Odd

I’m staring to think I would have gotten a launch day phone if I would have done in store pick up. Oh well. 11/10 is still pretty good. At least I still have CoD WWII on 11/3.

I seriously wish Apple would completely disconnect the whole buying process from the carriers and just sell stinking sim-free phones to everyone. I wanted to order a couple of verizon phones to keep my CDMA options open but I guess I'm too stupid to figure out how to make that happen because the only option I could find was to "order one for my existing account" (and my wife/daughter don't have Verizon). Wound up buying the t-mobile version because they have t-mobile. Now I guess I've got two phones that cost the same, but have less functionality, for no good reason. Ugh!

Was up at 1:50am central a full 10 minutes early. Was busy feverishly refreshing until the store was live (somewhere around 2:10am). As soon as I added an iPhone X Silver 256GB T-Mobile, shipping date was 2-3 weeks out. Frustrating to say the least.

I woke up at 2:55AM EST with my husband and we were fanatically opening/closing the app store on both our iPhones/iPads, nothing. At 3:07AM I decide to try the website and it immediately came up! I saw in-store pickup for various stores in NYC which threw me off. As I was choosing the Grand Central Store it suddenly wasn't available for in-store pickup anymore at ANY of the NYC stores. This was for the T-Mobile version. Then we proceeded to purchase for delivery and while I was trying to checkout with Apple Pay on Safari it froze! Apple Pay just wasn't working at all! I had to manually input my CC info along with shipping/billing. By the time everything went through the orders had slipped to 2-3 weeks, so Ill be receiving mine Nov. 17-24th. My husband on the other hand secured one for 1-2 week delivery. Both Silver 256GB!

Update!

I also just placed an order through T-Mobile.com with an estimated Nov. 3-10th ship date with FREE next day delivery! So I guess Ill just cancel my Apple.com order if I receive the T-Mobile order first. Good luck everyone!

Wouldn't say 4-5 weeks is "Drastically" for a device in short supply that apparently everyone wants. Was expecting it to be next year sometime by now, but still 4-5 weeks. My mate got his silver 256GB for iUP pickup on 18th Nov, and he ordered at 08:09.

When you have > 10 million units drop and sell out in < 10 hours it isn't supply constraint. It's insane demand.

I had a 11/3 SG256 TMO order in tmobile’s website, but now my order status is “no estimate currently available”. I knew it was a bit too good to be true, since that order went in around 12:30am pacific.

I do still have my SG256 TMO order from Apple though, 11/10-17 even though I didn’t get into the app until 12:05am.

It seems impossible to order a iphone on Apple without setting up new service or having existing service. I don't get why that would be. I think I've bought off contract phones without having to go through carrier auth process. God I hate this system.

Careful with that Tmobile order. I got confirmation upon ordering for 11/3, but now my order status shows as “no estimate currently available”. I suspect that Tmobile has just done a poor job of updating their site with new dates.

Found on PED 3.0:

From a note to clients by Rosenblatt Securities’ Jun Zhang that landed in by inbox Monday:
  • We believe iPhone X preorders reached 5.5 million units within the first 5 hours in China, compared to 4 million units for the iPhone 8 in the first 3 days.
  • The wait time for an iPhone X in China is currently 5-6 weeks, similar to the iPhone 6 Plus in 2014. The iPhone X was sold out within 10 mins in China and sold out overall in 20 minutes.

If anybody has T-Mobile, their site is still showing 11/3 - 11/10 ship date for all models....
https://explore.t-mobile.com/shipping-dates

Just spoke to T-Mobile, preorders are based upon available stock and are preorders only, if stock is not available, phone will ship out later dependent upon what they have on Nov 3rd, first come first serve. Rep advised no guarantee of actual ship out date on Nov 3

Yeah, my order from T-Mo still shows 11/3 delivery... I ordered later than you too I believe, but 64gb. Time will tell.

Kept refreshing the app and the website. App finally came up at 12:11 PST. I have to wait until November 24th. Total crap. I can't believe no news organizations are talking about the outages and problems Apple had last night. The forums are full of people sharing stories, so I know it's not just me. Where's the story MR?

Interesting, there were WAY more phones available for in store pickup (basically a reservation) than delivery. The delivery window (on Apple Store anyway) went within minutes for some carriers. But the in-store "reserve a spot" stock went through until 7am (EST) or later for Verizon and Sprint. I tried to get it to deliver and in fact couldn't, without starting over, so I just went for in-store 11/3 pickup - a 256 GB AT&T model (grey).

There were STILL phones available for 11/3 pickup in store in some cases (though not, it seems for AT&T) as of 8:00am. So did apple shift most of its inventory to carriers and stores?

It makes me wonder how many will be available for actual walk-ins with no reservations (almost none). It's like they shifted people to stores with reservations just to create buzz. It was hard to get delivery on 11/3, not so hard (if you woke early) to get in-store reserved.

AT&T also had phones available as late as 7AM for 11/3 delivery (64gb models).

All the phones for 11/3 seem gone now though, all sources, all carriers.

10 x 256GB Space Grey - Unlocked in the UK for delivery on the 3rd for me.

Apple Store App at 0801 & Carphone Warehouse.

Happy days.
