That launch was about as smooth as I could have asked for. Pre authorizing through the Apple upgrade program made things so simple. Aside from being on the East coast and having to wake up at 10 to 3 this morning, got in at 3:04am via the app and was able to order the 256 space gray for delivery on Nov 3rd!

Yeah that was smooth when I got it took me here in Illinois til 2:12 AM CDT. 12 minutes of trying all kinds of stuff to refresh and it would spin and go back to waiting, finally at that time the thing spun and let me in but I got this date (not terrible but would have preferred the November 3 arrival, thanks giving week is gonna be messy I might have to have UPS/Fedex hold depending on which day it delivers..

Items to be Shipped
Shipment 1
Ships: 2–3 weeks
Delivers: Nov 17 - Nov 24 by Standard Shipping

I wonder if there was a pattern to getting in before 10 minute window and especially 5 minute window. last year with the 7Plus I got in that 5 minute window and got it thru the IUP for first time and delivering on the opening day. I think with 55 countries and people hitting it hard there was just luck of draw, how regional server IP's were allowed or were able to connect to the servers that helped some score better.

Btw, for me it still shows 5-6 weeks delivery, but "check store pickup" is gone...

T-Mobile has the same estimates as well. They still had launch day delivery at 5AM EST. I was tempted but I'm already committed to the 8 Plus so I will be wait until next year.
Me too with the 8+—just proof of concept. :)

But I can not wait to read/see more about the new phone!

I stand by my earlier point. Apple (or anybody, really) should really be more proactive about this
Why? I bought a phone for that purpose. (1) If someone is willing to spend extra £££ because of impatience then there is nothing wrong with the concept. I wanna try to make some extra profit simply because people will pay that and if I don't get a buyer then I will simply return it. I wouldn't consider myself a scalper as I simply got 1 phone to sell with a profit to offset my own purchase. Simple as that.
However, don't blame scalpers. Its people who should get blamed because scalpers only exist because people are willing to pay more. Its simple market rule. If no one is willing to pay extra to get it faster then scalpers would not exist!
So, let people do what they want to do because that is their choice and stop suggesting that Apple should introduce some kind of dictatorship about who can or cannot buy a phone.

We all have a choice so why criticizing others for trying to make profit out of the situation.
Some people simply try to do anything to get some extra cash because that is what they need in order to get a little extra to use elsewhere. So in the bigger picture, let them have it. I'm sure you order yours and you will get it in a matter of days/weeks which is fine.

Got 2 with 17-24 Nov shipping... based on you experience.. should be more towards the Friday 17 or 24th??? I´m on 33130. Thx

Except it didn't work - the app kept showing the placeholder updating page for nearly 10 minutes after the website allowed you in. That's with killing and restarting the app. So the website was way faster this year

This was not the case everywhere. The app went live for me at 12:02 PST, and the website was down for about 8 minutes after that.

This whole process, of not even having enough phones for the first hour, is pathetic. In any other business, this would be a failure.

Any other business would kill to have this problem, selling billions of dollars in product in minutes, and having orders for billions more.

Dave I was constantly refreshing & I got in at around 00:03 now that I checked my vblog of this. We do have an Apple Data Center in the state as well. Maybe that's why it was so clutch for us

Get SE. It's as cheap as $150 when on sale.
I don’t remember when the 5 came out but it was a while ago. My wife wanted a top of the line phone if possible. We talked about the 7 7s and both 8’s but she wasn’t excited about those. We’ll wait and rethink our options after the first of the year.

My phone is a 6+. Wasn’t planning on upgrading it this cycle anyway.

If you got blocked for "Reservation" verifying with carrier. You will likely be out of luck as this has been going on for years now it seems and when they get this bogged down, if the order doesn't go through smoothly the first try, your pretty much guaranteed the "reservation" will expire before the system returns to normal communication. I just read a few threads on this and it seems to be the case. Pretty much a forced dead end. I'm kind of loosing interest at this point.

Everyone in this thread apparently doesn't know we're in Daylight Savings Time. The time is PDT, etc., not PST. I have literally not seen one single poster get it right when posting their purchase time.

Pre-order supplies of the new iPhone X are now largely sold out, with the new iPhone models displaying shipping estimates well beyond the November 3 launch date. All models from all carriers at the moment list shipping estimates of five to six weeks in the United States, although some Sprint models can still be ordered for November 3 in-store pickup depending on the store. Other countries have similarly delayed shipping estimates.

Ahead of iPhone X pre-orders, rumors suggested supplies would be heavily constrained due to ongoing production issues with everything from the TrueDepth camera module to the flexible printed circuit board for the device's antenna.

With pre-order supplies of the iPhone X exhausted, some customers could be waiting for months to get their hands on one of Apple's new devices. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will not reach supply/demand balance for the iPhone X until well into the new year.

Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone X at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 27, and it took just minutes for shipping estimates to start slipping. Shipping times are likely to get longer over the course of the next few hours as pre-orders continue to trickle in.

Customers who are hoping to get an iPhone X on launch day but weren't able to get a pre-order in early enough can try their luck waiting in line for a new device on launch day, Friday November 3.

Customers who were able to place an early iPhone X pre-order will begin receiving their devices starting next week.

Woke up up at 2:55AM Eastern time to order this and got on and had the phone ready to go but got a message that Apple couldn't located my carrier based of number and reserved my order. They are saying they will send me an email to complete my order. After that I tried again and saw phones go to 2-3 BO to 5-6 week BO eta. I wonder where my reservation if valid will put me in terms of ship date.

This brings up a couple things, one the iPhone 8 is a bust and launching two phones at different times was a huge problem. The lack of supply isn't bad per se since I intended to buy the iPhone X and sell it for profit since I already have a Pixel 2 and think it's amazing. If Apple's intention was to create some sort of hype like they experienced with the iPhone 4 then job well done but I don't think this was the case since the iPhone 8 has had it's production cut which is unheard of in terms of new iPhones and logically they would want both models to sell well.

getting on my soapbox some more I believe this would never would have happened under jobs. One there wouldn't be two phones being launched at different times. He probably would have launched just the X starting at $1000 and made consumers choice to buy or not buy it, but not introduce two phones to confuse consumers. Also the fact that the X makes you relearn the iPhone to a certain degree is a huge deal. The iPhone has been adopted by so many demographics and for someone like my parents who currently have them learning how to swipe to getting certain actions due to the lack of home button is going to be a huge deal. By having two different models you just have divided your consumer base. Take the headphone jack, they didn't keep the headphone jack on some new iPhone 7 models and not on others, they made everyone adopt at the same time.

In the end the iPhones are still great devices but the the 8 is a pathetic excuse for an upgrade and the X IMO just isn't worth the money considering the lower cost Android alternatives that I prefer since I think at this point Android OS purely more compelling at this point. Now if you are an Apple guy or girl or tied to their ecosystem my advice would be keep your iPhone 7 or buy a 7 on sale or used. If you have the money and or can afford the MSRP/Monthly payments the X will be the future of iPhones, but I fear that the Iris Scanner is NOT 100% ready and when someone like Wozniak says the same thing I don't think I am too off.

Who cares if Jobs would or would not have done something? What has Woz done in the past 10 years to indicate that he has any grip on today's smartphone market? If you would consider a low cost Android phone, the iPhone X is not for you. Nothing wrong with that, different strokes for different folks.

I'm not getting a X. In fact, I'm still on a 5S. I'm merely watching and thus really don't think I'm being hypocritical.

Congratulations, you must be very proud of yourself...

Think you'll find that 5s was made in the same factory. Unfortunately pulling the moral high ground out from underneath you :D

I just got up this morning at my normal time (around 7AM US Central) and ordered the upgrade on the Sprint website.

Got two 256gb Silver models, scheduled for delivery on 3 November.

I know others complain about Sprint, but we've been with them for almost 20 years, works great for us :)

Same situation here. I pre-approved the upgrade earlier in the week and was forced to order through the app. I wasn't allowed in until well after others not in the upgrade program. 10-15 minutes after the hour. After several errors occurring in the app I was able to complete the order with Nov 17-24 ship date.
There is no order showing in the store, only an Order Is Pending status under the upgrade program. No confirmation email.
It seems that being in the upgrade program was a big disadvantage. I contacted Apple via chat and they could not confirm that I even had an order. Will try again when store support opens in a couple of hours. They should already be open on a such a heavy day.
I finally got my confirmation email for pickup on the 3rd.

I have a tip for you to make a little extra: work. Save. Be patient. Repeat.

But then again, maybe I'm just not made for this capitalistic world...

Just got my Reservation follow up email :), and it did hold the shipping dates. It is showing 2-3 weeks, when if you were tying right now clean, your looking at 5-6. Good luck all!

There’s work, and then there’s business. You’ll always be a worker bee. Nothing wrong with that, just stating the obvious.

Are people on here really whining about a 2-3 weeks delivery?

Man, I wished I had your problems...
I agree. With all of the supply rumours, I was just hoping to get one in 2017! I really got lucky and have a SG 256 coming next week!!!
