Lol carriers try that every year and then people are hugely disappointed when the carriers get much less stock then Apple and lots of people are empty handed. Don't count on that

Th day of launch I went to my carrier and signed a sheet for the iPhone X oct 27 they will call me to process the order and I’m guaranteed a iphoneX November 3. Love it can’t wait

Actually it's costing Apple a lot more to make the X, hence the higher price.

If there is a massive swing towards the iPhone X over the iPhone 8 then we can kiss goodbye to the £699 entry price of future new iPhone models and say hello to £999.

This whole aniversary angle is just an excuse to hike prices and everyone is falling for it.

Lol. Apple fans do not choose Samsung. Lol. That’s ridiculous

What's a $200-$300 price difference anyway when you're financing the phone over 24/30 months?...

Any Apple "fan" willing to switch to Android is either bluffing or just grasping at straws to try something different.

So... where did that 10,000 a day number come from? Obviously the analyst got the information from somewhere.

thing is this.. it's not as if the factory worker shows up in the morning, begins their task of making the display, their neighbor makes the camera, etc... then at the end of the day, a phone has been made.

an iPhone is being made all over the world

• Chipsets and Processors ....(S.Korea / Taiwan)
• Flash memory ..................(Japan / S.Korea)
• Gyroscope .......................(France / Italy)
• Touch ID .........................(Taiwan)
• Battery ...........................(S.Korea)
• Accelerometer .................(Germany / U.S.)
• Camera ...........................(Japan / U.S. / Taiwan)
• Display ...........................(Japan / Taiwan)
• Glass ..............................(U.S.)
• NFC ................................(Netherlands)
(probably not exactly factual.. especially if the OLED displays are coming from Samsung(S.Korea).. but close enough to make the point)

most of what Foxconn (China) does is the main chassis assembly..

so when we hear something like "this amount of phones are being made per day", it really makes zero sense in how most people will interpret that.. some parts of it were made last year, some last month, etc.

----

10,000 units a day?
who knows, maybe that means they've been shrink wrapping 10,000 boxed units (ie- THE final product) of them per day up till now.. but they could easily shrink-wrap a million of them in a day.. it's just that they haven't as they haven't needed to.. once the final OS (for example) is installed on them, then the dude pushes the button and the entire lot gets wrapped that day..

10,000 units per day, going through some sort of final process, could be irrelevant info as to whether or not there will be millions of phones ready on launch day.. but by the time the news makes it to the consumers reading rumor sites, the report, while possibly factual, has been skewed to make it seem as if there's a huge shortage and/or problem..

we just have no way of knowing what's meant by 10k/day.. none.

and it's such a ridiculously low number for the way many will read it as (omg- there will only be 325,000 phones available in November )... it just makes no sense. none.. which means, even it the report is true, it's being misconstrued beyond recognition by the time it's processed by consumer rumor readers.

lol yeah because demand isn't already st an all time high. So why would they actually sell every one they could make when they could have them sitting in a warehouse

I think this is a marketing tactic to drive up the demand right before the holiday season but I bet I may have them for my daughters by spring.

Apple is rushing this phone out. It’s like they fell asleep after the iPhone 7 release, no direction and just came up with some last minute ideas trying to catch up to Samsung. Everything is just FAIL right now.

I say they just wait until next September and bring out a product that is going to lead us into the next gen of smartphones.

They should have just stuck with the 8/8+ this year, and then hold onto the design of the X for next year. That would have given them more than enough time to work out kinks.

Isn’t this late release date and any further delays going to screw us all over next year when they release the new iPhone in September but our trade ins aren’t eligible until November at the earliest?

Stay up and order at 12:00 AM on the 27th only to get "ships in 6-8 weeks" message after check out. Can't wait for all the bitching on here when servers crash and it takes people 2 hours to get an order through only to be told their X will be at their door steps sometime in the new year....
Good times!!!
I call bull ****. There will be delays, but I highly doubt production hasn't started.
They are crazy, not stupid! While I may be mired in the internet crash of 2017...I will try my dang best to order one...or cry trying!!! :D;)

I'll admit that 10k/day sounded like a crazy low number when I first heard it.

And when it's the only number you hear... it's what you go with. :)

Let's hope it's complete hogwash and that Apple can (somewhat) keep up with launch demand.

But they never do... so...

I guess we'll know when shipping estimates start saying "January 2018" on October 28...

All of these posts about this topic will make it harder to get because the scalpers will wake up at 12-3am to make a buck on eBay.

The chaos on pre order night will be a sight to behold

I sent out all a poll a few weeks ago, asking users how long before the OLED iPhone (at the time, we did not yet know the X moniker) ship dates slipped to Jan. '18. My vote was under 1 min. And now Jan. might be some of the early shipments. #crazy

So at what point do people wait a few more months until Apple is taking preorders on the iPhone Xs (or whatever)?
I mean, a March '18 ship date is not out of the question. And if so, might riddle orders seeing that ship date, canceled. Yeah?
Maybe I need to post a new poll...

B/c it would've taken away from iPhone 8 sales. Apple wanted a staggered release, instead of pushing everything out at once. It would be like Samsung releasing the S8+ and Note 8 at the same time. Or Sony releasing the PS4 and PS4 Pro at the same time. Like I said before, every year these production horror stories appear online and every year I still get my phone on or around launch day. Remember the elusive gold 5S that was supposed to be backordered until January of 2014? I got mine a few days after the launch day. Remember the 6 Plus that was supposedly having production problems? Got my phone on launch day. The Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus that wasnt gonna be readily available until weeks and weeks and weeks after the holidays? Got my phone a week after launch day.

My point? This guy is full of crap. You honestly think Apple would wait mere weeks from arguably the biggest smartphone launch in history, to start producing iPhone Ten's? This is Apple aka the most valuable and powerful brand in the world. This isn't Little Susie's summer lemonade stand. No way in hell would Apple have set a release date if they didn't already have an idea of iPhone stock and a plan to get iPhones shipped out. Everything will work out. Folks just need to calm down

Next year, the production horror stories will continue. This is almost like a tradition, heading into preorder time.

Can you tell me when did the S8+ get released with the Note 8? There releases are several months apart to put emphasis on the Note 8 being the better flagship device.

Uh oh. It's like the white iPhone 4 all over again:

Wired said:
The black iPhone 4 hit stores in June, 2010, but the release of the white model was mysteriously postponed — first for a month, then to the end of the year, and now until spring of next year.

It wound up being 9 months late.

Ya, I am still waiting for one place I was on a list to call me about the iPhone 7 Plus from last year around this time LOL.

My question is why is it more expensive at all. The 3g to the 4 was a huge upgrade, inside and out. A radically new, high-end design with exponentially better materials, Retina display, better camera, etc. No price increase. These phones are not maturing enough compared to the past to justify the higher prices. JMO.

I really don’t know. I feel relatively confident the change is not arbitrary.

What does Ming Chi Kuo say? He's pretty much the only one I trust when it comes to supply chain.

This article does not make sense to me as a week ago Ming was saying that they're already producing, but at ~10k per day.

If this thing does not even start getting produced until mid-Oct, the launch is virtually non-existent come Nov 3rd, and the pre-order will be more than disappointing, it'll be outright aggravating.

This one should be taken with a grain of salt.
