There is one reason why I highly doubt that report: The iPhone X will be shipped to more than 40 countries at launch. If it is going to be so heavily constrained the chaos would be perfect, and Apple would have chosen a more modest initial launch schedule with the big countries (US, Canada, GB, Japan, Germany, France, China) like the years before. But then again I could be wrong.

And what's the track record for this guy?

he says this every time a new product is announced.. so far this year, i remember he used his connections at Apple to order a maxed out MBP prior to public availability.. he also has a maxed out iMac Pro on order, and now he’s ordered 6 of these new iphones that are being set aside for him and he’ll have on Nov3.
Interesting. I'm jealous. I really do not want to wait until February for this phone! I doubt I'll get an order through quickly enough at pre-order start to get a 'first-day' shipment. From what people on here say, we here on the East Coast are at a disadvantage when the ordering beings (versus those on the Pacific Coast).

They haven't even STARTED production yet?! This can't be real, I thought they typically started production like months in advance?!
He contradicts KGI, and at this point my money is more on KGI than some analyst without any track record.
And let's not forget one thing: In 2014 the 6 Plus model was repported to be pushed back to 2015, and that didn't happen. Analysts don't know everything. The same goes for KGI. He has also made false predictions.

No, we're not. I just ordered my S3 AW at 3:01 last Friday. No issues.

I was logged in right at 3am.

I have done preorders down the street from Cupertino and I have done them here on the East coast, and they all pretty much ran the same.

There's no Pacific Coast preference. It all opens at midnight Pacific, all over the world. Sometimes, the first people in the store aren't even in the US. I think the iPhone 6 launch was like that, if memory serves.

Most of the people on here saying they were ordering with no problem were in the UK. It really does vary.

For the past couple of launches, it seems like the store opens up right around the time it should, give or take a minute.

BTW? No need to be jealous. I know people who do business orders like this person is describing. They don't always get their product first. Most businesses don't care about being first. They care about the business discount and getting an order in so they can get it as soon as it's available to them at that discount.

Apple saw what worked with Nintendo's NES Classic and Switch. I'm sure they are taking a page form them. Set a limit on what they want to sell and then artificially create a shortage on the device so it can sell like hot cakes.
The problem is, that Apple only earns money by selling the devices. Which means that the big December sales would fall apart. To some degree there will be an artifical cap of the quantities but endangering a whole quarter would be madness.

Scalper no doubt. Eurgh.

Nah... scalpers don't place business orders with Apple. I have friends whose friends get deep discounts with Apple for business orders, and they will sometimes snag a few extras for their friends to buy at discount from them. I don't know anyone who does that who makes a profit off the merchandise.

I had an option to get the Series 0 Apple Watch via such means, but it would have meant waiting an extra month or so for them to get their order fulfilled, and I really wanted it at launch, so I just paid for it and placed my own order online with Apple.

Actually, it's more than 55 countries. https://www.apple.com/ca/newsroom/2017/09/the-future-is-here-iphone-x/

"Phone X will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, October 27 in more than 55 countries and territories, and in stores beginning Friday, November 3."

this type of analyst reports aside...

something i think you’ll see happen if there truly are problems at the magnitude you’re being told (ie— 10k/day or yet to begin production)...

Apple will officially delay the release.

i highly (highly!) doubt Apple would continue with the nov3 launch while having no phones.. or only a handful of phones.

stop and think this for a minute.. thousands of people camped out at nyc apple stores for days (week for a few).. excitement building.. people up in the wee hours to pre order.. etc..

doors open to Soho store and everyone is just turned away.. “sorry, we haven’t started making the phones yet”
or
“sorry, we only have 5 phones at this location”

not gonna happen.

that is the disaster scenario you seem to think is real but seriously, it will not happen like that.

again, apple will officially delay launch (well, they wouldn’t of announced a launch date if there were problems like you think but let’s pretend they made that mistake).. there will be no Nov3 launch day if the reports are true

Maybe I need to camp out at the Apple store now to reserve my spot in line for the X? Everyone else will be showing up for the 8 but I'll kindly let them go in front of me since I'll be there for another month and a half. ;)

But seriously, if this report is even partially true it makes me even happier that I ordered the 8+. I couldn't' imagine pre-ordering the X and have it tell me it could be months until the phone arrives. My anxiety would get the best of me.
The 8 Plus is a great phone, and I don't think many people know how similar it is to the X minus the screen. It's going to have an hour better of battery life, and probably be a bit snappier due to the 1080p screen vs the 2k display. It's going to have a secondary OIS on the back along with a bigger aperture for low light for depth effect shots, but the new camera is already getting great reviews on the 8 Plus.

People aren't going to like the bar at the top. And coming from a Note 8, fingerprint sensor is boss. People are also not going to like the portrait effect for a good 10 months (if it looks like anything on Apple's website). Portrait mode got a massive update in 10.3 that improved it greatly, only took about 8 months.

Yeah... I'm good to go for next year as well when the 10S or the 11 launches and I can still place a pre-order without going over my 1 year mark on my Next plan. Plus it'll make waiting for that screen next year even more worth it when I have the refined version of the 10.

I don’t believe this rumor and I don’t believe the 10000 per day number either, I would bet that it’s substantially higher.

If not, Apples sales numbers for Q4 would be way down. And that would be a far bigger deal.

Looks like they knew what they were doing.

2017 or 2018?

I suppose that they´ve decided to launch the (pointless for us) Iphone 8 because they MUST launch something on September and the X wasn't ready yet....

What happened to all the "Apple is doomed. Doomed..." posters?

And the "This would never have happened when Steve was alive" ones.

Guess we just wait and see what happens on October 27th...

Basically, I'm just going to pretend that it's not being released until mid-January. No point in stressing over getting it sooner than that...

Can't wait for the new iPhone release in January, guys!

Roto, despite I agree with you, if they don´t launch -at least- 50% of the demand before X-mas, its gonna be a difficult 2018 for Apple.... I can already guess that they are struggling to get as many devises as they can ready for the end of the year.

The 8 is pointless why...? It's the same phone. Different look and a slightly bigger and 2x rez screen is that big of a deal? The iPhone 8 Plus may actually be snappier cause of the resolution with the Bionic. Let's be honest, the other features people aren't going to be using after a few days/weeks. How many people still use iMessage effects here?

I understand people were dying for a redesign and an OLED display. But the 8+ still supports HDR... and still has portrait effects on the back cam. Anyone actually see these portrait effects and Zoom in on Apple's site?

So, I made up my mind. I'm going with an 8 plus. This is just insane! Further delays?? The average customer, even pre-ordering at midnight will be waiting until february to get their iPhone x. This is such a fail for Apple.

Customers will just be getting their iPhone x's when Apple is announcing iOS 12. Starting this late and having the demand as large as this for iPhone x, they'll be starting production for iPhone 11 before customers get their iPhone x.

https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/20/iphone-x-production-further-delays/
I wouldn't put too much into the latest report. The guy isn't a known source.

The x will be delayed and limited but we knew this

Well, truth told, most people were hooked on the 200-300 every other year for the carrier upgrade here in the US.

When people started having to look at the actual prices of these phones, they all had sticker shock. Now, this phone is 200 more than its predecessors, but it's also probably going on a NEXT plan or an Apple Upgrade plan (or some other equivalent) and people are only paying several dollars more per month than they normally would, so I really don't see this having a drastic impact on sales.

Not when people can also just go with the 8 or 8 plus.

I don’t care about Apple’s sales.

Believe he's already weighed in to report that the 8/8+ sales are below expectations because, coming as a surprise to nobody, everyone's waiting for the X.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. People don't always want a 3rd generation of mostly what they already have, especially with the 8 that doesn't even get the dual cameras and new features.

No-one I've spoken to is getting an X, I was one of those waiting to upgrade from my SE "gapfiller" but I haven't been convinced that the X justifies its price or that the execution is that amazing. I'm actually thinking of seeing what the new Pixel is like and I've been an iPhone user since the 3G.

Of course the X will sell well, I just don't think that's the only reason the 8/8+ aren't.

I think the whole idea behind the iPhone X is that it's supposed to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone. That's obviously why they called it the iPhone X. If they release it next it would be too late to celebrate that.

They are shooting them selves in the foot with all this incompetence.
They'll have very low and limited stock for sale 2-3 months after the device was revealed.
And 6-7 months later they might have the wireless charging pads available too and those will have a 3-4 week ETA.

If airpods were any indication of the crazy that faces the iPhone X, we're going to see the Samsung S9 around the time some people get their preorders. It's going to be hectic.
