hmm. thanks but that wasn't the point of the post.. the point is at the end.

(i suppose you could also point out my misunderstanding of production lines since i say 137k units for 365 days straight.. when reality is- some days, no phones would be made and other days, more than 137k would be made..

but for ease of getting to the actual point, i used averages in the example.. sorry)
 
Don't believe everything that you read. Even if it is delayed, iPhone 8 launches in 2 days, that should hold you over.

What happens to those of us on the upgrade plan with Apple? Does this mean we can't get next years phone until November as well? And what if we can't get a launch day one and we don't get one until Jan or so? I don't wanna wait that long twice...

Customers will just be getting their iPhone x's when Apple is announcing iOS 12. Starting this late and having the demand as large as this for iPhone x, they'll be starting production for iPhone 11 before customers get their iPhone x.

I've worked with Apple for years. Myself and many companies who do can place their orders directly through our contacts at Apple.

So every time there's a Keynote I simply shoot an email requesting what I'd like to order. It could be a fully spec'd MBP if they announce a new one or in this case I requested 6 iPhone X.

They make sure their partners are supplied with devices when they're released as we help them make millions.

I'm still not convinced about the face-touch thing.

Not for the typical reasons given, however. No, it's not the security that concerns me. It's having to take my eyes off the road to unlock my phone. No longer would I be able to unlock my phone with a thumb or big toe. No no, now I have to use my face to slide up! I don't think I can handle the risk for crashing my car just to change Pandora stations (do I have to @ss-swipe, to do that, and is it right or left?), not to mention the oils from my face getting all over my phone. It was bad enough before, when I merely had to hold a phone up to my face, but now I have to actually wipe my face across the phone? What's next, NakedTwister moves to browse the App Store?

If you order with Apple upgrade do you start paying your loan right away even if you don’t have your phone yet?

For the iPhone 8 launch they allowed upgrade plan users to do the work ahead of time so they were set to preorder with the rest of the crowd. But they may not do the same with the iPhone X.

With the iPhone 7, many upgrade plan users had to wait.

Remains to be seen how it all works.

Yes. It's no different than buying most anything with a loan. If you have to wait for a car to be delivered after signing a loan, the loan begins and you start paying even before you take delivery.

Only reason the OLED display is at a shortage is because of that ugly cut-out for the notch. Without that cut-out, the yields would be so much better .

That's what I'm saying too! Haha. I'm gonna be up at 2:45AM and am refreshing so fast come 2:59AM. I'm praying I get it for launch day delivery.

I have a bad feeling that this is going to be one of the worst releases by Apple in a long time. Hardware failures, screen issues, etc. hope I'm wrong.
 
Interesting that all my friends who are long term  supporters are seriously considering the Samesung simply as the cost of the phone is excessive. These are not people who have to be careful with money.

i highly doubt OLED displays are causing a hold up..
Apple ordered 70,000,000 of them in March to which Samsung decided to go ahead and get the tooling/resources ready to make more than ordered amount.

the displays have been in production for over 6 months.. there's no way the displays are part of OP's "Final production on the iPhone X has yet to start".. no way.

Meh, I'll pre-order on launch day and keep using my phone till Sprint decides to fill my order sometime in 2018. After experiencing launch delays for my 128g jet black 7 plus, I'm in no rush.

Yes. It's no different than buying most anything with a loan. If you have to wait for a car to be delivered after signing a loan, the loan begins and you start paying even before you take delivery.

Really? When I pre-order with my carrier I don't pay until the new phone is delivered. I'd check to see if thats correct.

Very likely considering every year theres the "production horror stories" posted on the web to send the entire Apple iUniverse into a frenzy. Every year this happens. Gold 5S, iPhone 6 Plus, Jet Black iPhone, ect. And I seriously can't believe that anybody would take this guy serious. Apple, the most valuable company in the world, is about to have perhaps their biggest iPhone launch since 2010's iPhone 4....and this guy is saying production hasn't even started yet? Really tho?.... Dude is so full of sh*t, his bed mattress is probably made out of Charmin
