Is that a serious question? Lol of course a new iPhone will launch in 2018.

Apple will make and sell a lot of iPhone X this year and next. They know what they're doing.

Sure is. Also at a starting price of £1,000.00 should they move to a two year cycle? After all, imagine you've just paid that amount of money, only to receive the phone in 2018, the same year the S model comes out. Whats the point?

Many laptops/notebooks are that price or less and you would never consider changing them every year.

so why is only ONE FaceID being stored? At least with TouchID we can have multiple fingers so you can share the phone with a friend, flatmate or partner and they can open it.

FaceID would have been the perfect time to set up individual accounts and screen layouts/apps as the system recognises you and could load your preferences. Seems a backward step if the second person needs to know your password just to get in and has to jump through more hoops to open the phone. If they only wanted one face they should have kept TouchID for other access.

Not everyone change phone every year. Otherwise Apple would sell > 600 millions of phone per year. Next year iPhone could not be bought by this year buyers but by a lot of people with older versions. It's the norm.

Production delays, FaceID glitches, and that ugly, distracting "notch" at the top.

I'll wait for the XS.

I would imagine it being a software restriction and Apple could easily change that. I think they need to work extra carefully because of the neural engine also dedicated to Face ID.

What FaceID glitch?

And if you think the notch will be gone next year I am sorry to disappoint you but that will stick around for the next 3+ years.

They should have skipped releasing the 8/8+ so they can put all of their efforts into the X. A lot of people seemed to skip the iPhone 8 and are waiting on the X.

Silly comment. It doesn't work that way. You can't just move all production over to the X like a snap of your finger. Apple simply can't even get enough OLED screens to fill out the demand for the X

Listen the iPhone 8 was released to actually help with the iPhone X's supply issues.

Expectation leads to production delays?

Ok then...
It already has, genius. Why do you think we are having a new iPhone model not available until November 3rd versus the Middle of September as with the last several iPhones? Because the expectation of the features exceeded the production and development ability.

Besides that, I wrote expectation and hurried production might lead to more defective units, not delays. Similar to the chamfers being chipped and scratched on iPhone 5 models.

Ok then? What great reasoning and conversation to debunk a thought I had which I also wrot...may not be.

in my opinion it sounds more like a fake news for people to buy the iPhone 8 (which has trouble because of the release of the iPhone X).

I don’t think Apple would put out fake news like that, they want people to but the iPhone X.

I don’t care about Apple’s sales.

You did allude to them, whether you care about them or not. You're talking about what you perceive that Apple got people hooked on as if everyone, en masse, is refusing this pricing increase. If you read this forum, it's clear that's just not the case and plenty of people are buying this phone. So, speaking to Apple's logic re: sales was a valid point. I don't personally care about their sales beyond whether or not they do well enough to keep producing items of theirs that I purchase.

From an investor standpoint this entire rollout is a nightmare. First they release the 8 series with no WoW factor. Then they name the new flagship device with an ambiguous name. Is it the X? Is it the 10? Where is 9? I spoke to a sales rep from our service provider yesterday who insisted they don't have a 10.. But they are releasing an X soon... So, Apple has crippled their final quarter sales by offering a handset series that will not sell well due to stagnant innovation and anticipation of the X, and a flagship that can't be delivered until next quarter. There is a reason they always release in September, it's to boister final sales numbers for the year.
Apple is about to be unseated due to errors in marketing and mismanagement of the manufacturing stream.
Mark my words. Next year you will see a 9 in a final release of the 6-7-8 design and they will retire that line, and you will see an X+.

Anyone purchasing the X on launch day is just asking for trouble. For the first time ever, I believe Apple rushed this model into production too quickly and it will show with a myriad of problems.

I'm definitely going to be purchasing it, but not until mid-year 2018.

Why? If a person has AppleCare+, they can just swap it out for another one long before you buy one in mid-2018.

Notch is here to stay. Screen to bezel ratio is the new megapixel race, Samsung are rumoured to be doing it for the S9 already. TouchID is gone, they've spent too much money on FaceID to go back now. Craig F has as good as announced this by banging on about how amazing it is.

Still not really sure who their market is these days, and I'm not sure they do either. What was the best bit about FaceID? Animojis or whatever the flip they called it .... how many people who are interested in that tat have $1k to blow on a phone? Too many I suppose is the answer.

Rumours all point towards Samsung getting dual IS cameras on the back of the S9, that and fingerprint under the display. If that isn't the perfect phone I don't know what is - as a recent switcher I can confirm that Android (just like Windows) is a perfectly lovely alternative OS these days, as long as you're not wanting to keep all your Apple cloud services and rely heavily on integration with other Apple hardware. iPad is all I have left now so perhaps that's why I found the switch easier.

..also sounds like S9 will be out and about in the wild by the time Apple can get the X built in decent numbers - going to be an interesting year for tech.

Apple almost needs to skip a year to catch up. In 2007 June release. Now in 2017 we are November.

doubt it...if this fake news is true about them having trouble making the phones, then how the hell will they be able to make a Plus version of the X for a late 2018 release

Damn...might as well not get my hopes up for getting one by November 3rd! But I will try!

Yep I guess I might have to suffer with my 7Plus 256 for another year if the delay is too long ;-) But I will at least try and see if I can snag one before years end. That is going to screw up us apple upgrade folks if we cannot get one by then for next fall when the X Plus comes out LOL. Seriously though if the delay is way into 2018 I might as well just enjoy my 7Plus longer and wait for 2018. Time will tell how true this rumor is...

I’m glad my 7plus is handling iOS 11 well. With these delays, the iPhone X basically is the 2018 release!
Yep my 7Plus is seeming more and more my phone I will stick with for another year LOL, was just wanting the camera tech of the X but I guess I will have to suffer with my 7Pus 256 longer LOL

The one thing that gets me is they say its launching November 3rd - I highly doubt they hadn't started production when they announced the release date on September 12th.

That is also what I wonder as well -- not long we will see what happens one the 27th and the ship times the next couple days will be telling
[doublepost=1506002769][/doublepost]
Kuo reported on iPhone X production already at 10.000 units a day and slowly ramping up like 10 days ago.

Right I tend to believe this more than this "scary" rumor but it does stir things up like the press always wants to do LOL
[doublepost=1506002841][/doublepost]
I'm skeptical of this report. If Apple wasn't sure it would have ample supply at least so the first 30 minutes of pre-orders could get release day, why not just say "Fall 2017?" Hard dates indicate some confidence that they can at least get more than 5 of these out the door on 11/3.

I agree it is not as bad as this extreme rumor claims ;-)

Further proof the X was never meant to come out this year.
Proof? From an unkown analyst with out any credentials or track record. Sorry, that analyst is just talking bs. That phone was in planning for 3 years. Apple doesn't rush things. They have a clear road map.

That is why I hate reports like that. We get the notion that the product will be rushed but it won't be. If it really was rushed they would be launching it in a few countries at start. You are looking at the biggest launch ever.
Please take this and any other report with a grain of salt. Analysts want their 15 minutes of fame, too. Frankly speaking I am not even sure if the guy in the report knows what he is talking about.

Yep. This is also something to keep in mind

I'm very curious to see how this plays out. If shipping gets moved to January for folks that pre-order as soon as they go live or even into early FEB..... it will be interesting to see how many wait that long, or at that point, simply wait for next September. Not sure who thought the biggest IPHONE launch ever in terms of countries that can pre-order on the same day mixed with the shortest supply ever for the launch was a good idea.

Me also although I am not inclined to believe this report much. However if us preorder folks, who also are on the upgrade plan cannot even get our X's then I will be one who just continues to enjoy my nice silver 7Plus 256 ;-) like you. With iOS 11 it runs very well thank you ;-). I was only inclined to try an X because the upgrade plan allowed me to do so with included AppleCare. Otherwise enjoy my 7Plus and perhaps rejoin the upgrade program next fall with a Plus 512K LOL
