Is a complete newcomer better in supply chain than Apple? (Essential)
No. But I'm sure the 25 phones they sold were in stock. The reviewers made sure of it.

---

As for being on topic, I wonder if this was pushed out by Apple (through this guy) to help set expectations and drum up sales of the soon to be dropping 8/8+.

What a mess. Samsung will be ready to pounce. Apple will likely be 1 year behind on new technology features soon.

Samsung Wireless Charging - April 2017

Apple Wireless Charging - November 2017

If you order within the 60 seconds and everything goes smoothly. I'm pretty sure you'll get it on Nov 3rd.

Of course if you forget to pre-order the second pre-order starts and end up pre-ordering an hour later, don't be surprised for a 6-7 weeks wait....

I'm very curious to see how this plays out. If shipping gets moved to January for folks that pre-order as soon as they go live or even into early FEB..... it will be interesting to see how many wait that long, or at that point, simply wait for next September. Not sure who thought the biggest IPHONE launch ever in terms of countries that can pre-order on the same day mixed with the shortest supply ever for the launch was a good idea.

Meh, don't care about the X nor the 8/8+ because the 7/7+ is fantastic. As is the 6S. I know more people this year just sticking with what they have because there is no reason to upgrade.

I just hope the SE sees a refresh in March/April. I’m done with any size/model but the SE. It has everything I want/need in a phone, it’s the smallest, it’s the most affordable. I used to be a latest and greatest guy. Lately, I’ve been discovering that all of my most used features (safari, mail, Apple Pay, photos) are great on all phones across he board

Still using an iPhone 5 and desperate for a 10! I hope that I'm able to get a day one release... I'll have the site open and the Apple Store app going at the same time... fingers crossed it doesn't crash and I get the iPhone X pre-ordered in a couple of minutes...

Oh yeah, and I hate scalpers. Companies need to do more to stop them from being able to re-sell at a higher price. E.g. iPhone locked to your Apple ID for 3 months minimum after buying and won't work with another Apple ID. The same happened with Lego's new Millennium Falcon... it's frustrating for fans / buyers who actually want to use the items.

They should have skipped releasing the 8/8+ so they can put all of their efforts into the X. A lot of people seemed to skip the iPhone 8 and are waiting on the X.
Obviously, they have the 8 in place in order to make up for the lack of 10. They knew it from the very beginning that it was not possible for them to mass produce it in 2017.

Apple saw what worked with Nintendo's NES Classic and Switch. I'm sure they are taking a page form them. Set a limit on what they want to sell and then artificially create a shortage on the device so it can sell like hot cakes.
I feel bad for you if you believe that is what these companies do. Apple would sell 20 million on the first weekend if they had them, and you think they’re trying to artificially create delays. They would be throwing billions away. As for the Switch, the same is true there, Nintendo wishes they had enough but they don’t, end of story.

I know it’s a nice thought to think that these companies artificially create shortages, but it’s just not the reality.

I'm going to get an iPhone x but I suspect the delays and supply will be so bad at launch pretty much no one will have one until next year. Such a shame, I feel like a company with 250billion in the bank shouldn't have these issues. Considering apple sets the release date it's disappointing to say the least.

Unfortunately they rely on their manufacturing partners :/. I'm sure if it was under Apple's control / Apple's factory, leaks would NEVER happen and we would see **** come out on time

I already pre-ordered an 8+, but damn I kind of want to get up at 2am again just to see how fast the X sells out, and how bad the shipping delays become. It's going to be like a 5 minute window, if that, before they are sold out. I have no problems waiting a generation or two for a more refined X model, almost anything 1st Gen with Apple has some issues or deficiencies.

So we'll get 9 months at best of that new iPhone feeling before the next one is unveiled... hmm. Perhaps an 8 for a year is the better money spent.

I need to get rid of this 6 soon....

One of my reasons for ordering an 8 Plus was impatience. I also fully intend to get an X+ if that is released next year. Buying an X would have meant maybe only 8 or 9 months use. I'd rather avoid stress and have a few extra months with a less exciting, but equally fast machine.

The iPhone X actually delivers/is available on November 3, not November 2. And I would say pre-ordering would have to be almost immediate and under two minutes for more promising delivery times.

Don't hate on scalpers because the richest company in the world is inept at making enough stock of their products to even remotely satisfy initial demand. It's not just phones they do this with it's damn near every product they make. Air Pods was the latest fiasco. They rushed this phone to market. The design shows, the supply shortage shows, it reeks of being rushed to market in the name of the 10th anniversary and moreover making a phone that looked like the flagships of their competition.
