Exactly, even though I'm thinking of getting an 8 Plus 64gb, because of only $30 dlls difference between the 7 Plus 128gb, it is the most mediocre "number" update, it is pointless, all the resources should've gone the to X.

If anything should have been canned it’s the X until they could do things like integrate Touch ID into it. They only put out what looks like a beta device to cash in on the tenth anniversary.

This happens with every release. Jet black too. Why do we always believe these things as if no one will get them. There will still be tons of people getting it November 3. Like with every release some scattered.

Seriously contemplating buying a 6S, 7 or SE to used for 4-6 months and wait to hear about any issues with the X now. But that's still a chunk of dough and buying a used phone is a pain and risky.

Apple is going to get hammered by orders for the X and there will be a lot of people waiting for months for the new X to arrive, if I had to bet money on it right now. My guess is we'll only start to see availability open up mid to late February or maybe even March 2018, if they get better yields on the constrained components.
any then only a few months later Xs.

Market crash incoming. When this many people will pony up $1k + for the iPhone, we are overdue. :p
lol.. already converted a majority of my assets into cash. :p

These type of articles attract the attention of scalpers and ramp up the odds for people that actually want to use the phone.
Quite honestly, I don't have a problem with scalpers. Not that I've ever done it or will, but they do solve the supply/demand problem. Honestly, it's Apple's fault that scalpers even exist. If supply is low and demand is high, the price SHOULD be higher due to basic economics. It's sad that capitalism isn't perfect, but scalpers effectively solve the supply/demand problem. If Apple's head wasn't up its own ass (in terms of pricing and availability), there wouldn't be any issue at all.

Case in point: No one is scalping the iPhone 8s because supply already meets demand. No issue. With the X, we can expect the market price to come down slowly as supply increases to meet demand.

I'm not opposed to the innovation of the X, but I'd rather wait for the "XS" when they get some of these innovations refined and after it's had some time in the market.

I completely disagree with those of you saying the 8/8+ are "pointless".

Final production on the iPhone X has yet to start, even though Apple will begin taking orders for the device in just over a month. Raymond James chip analyst Christopher Caso conducted supply chain checks this morning and then shared what he learned about Apple's production schedule in an investor's note obtained by Barron's.

According to Caso, while there were already production delays affecting the iPhone X, further delays have occurred recently. He says production is set to start in mid-October, later than earlier predictions. With additional delays, full production ramp up will be delayed into the December quarter.

We've already known the iPhone X is going to be severely constrained, but hints of further delays suggest supplies could be more restricted than originally thought.

With the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus seemingly not garnering as much interest from customers as previous smartphones launched in fall, it seems there could be quite a lot of Apple fans who are holding out for the iPhone X.

It could be months before Apple has adequate supply to meet demand for the $999 device. Reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, for example, has said it could take well into 2018 for Apple to fill all orders.

The iPhone X will be available for pre-order on October 27, with the device to officially launch on November 3. Pre-orders will undoubtedly sell out rapidly so all but the luckiest customers may need to wait for several weeks to get their hands on one of the new flagship devices.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, launching this Friday, should be readily available at retail stores around the world.

Supply chain checks? Why should I believe some Wall Street analyst and their so-called supply chain checks? Which Apple suppliers (that want to remain Apple suppliers) would blab to Wall Street analysts?

Said it right after the keynote.. they should have never ever said the official preorder and release dates for this product. Just say preorder in the fall and be done with it. It was obvious they were constrained big time on this release and with the misplacement of touch id.. which yes.. was suppose to be built into the screen spacing away from iPhone 8 would have made a lot more sense. No way they fill orders before Christmas on X. You'll be lucky to get one before End of Q1 2018.

Apple saw what worked with Nintendo's NES Classic and Switch. I'm sure they are taking a page form them. Set a limit on what they want to sell and then artificially create a shortage on the device so it can sell like hot cakes.

No, no and dam NO! Apple do not need to go to such stupid lengths to create demand. It is already there. These so called analysts are usually wrong!
Remember that these so called analysts said that Touch ID was a stupid idea and would fail
Remember that these so called analysts said that there would be no iPhone 6 plus because they see no evidence in the supply chain checks.
And so on and so on.
I would imagine that Apple have already started production by now.

I do not trust a single analyst.. or as i like to call them anal-cysts .
After all they are Analysts working for the house.. and whatever their personal agenda may be.
They spread Fud... have people sell in panic, manipulate the stock price lower and then they get in and buy cheaper shares....
So take all these rumors with a grain of salt .

Shortage of supply in November would be disastrous for Apple if they can't get phones out to people before xmas. People will just switch to Samsung if the waiting times slip beyond 6 weeks

They probably announced it because of all the leaks this summer. But the device wasn’t ready. We heard it was going into production in September but could only produce 10,000 a day. Seems they’re having even further issues preventing mass production. Also with the NAND shortages and screen supplies from Samsung being shorted makes perfect sense that it’s not ready.

NOPE! You fail! Go back to School!

Apple placed an order for more than 80 million screens from Samsung so no supply issues there considering that Samsung has been making old screens for a few years now.

The leaks have nothing to do with production. Apple do not comment on leaks etc so would not need to talk about a phone not ready for production just because of leaks.
Apple are very good at supply chain and are hardly likely to have bene planning a phone for more than year and not have the NAND supply sewn up well in advance of any issues regarding supply.
