Is yours a refurbished one too?
No, because I noticed the dust/smudge in my camera lens within my 14 day return period, so I just reserved another one online when they had stock and returned my defective one.

I'm debating whether I should swap my current one (with minor edge blemish) since I'm still within 14 days with this new phone. Too many of the current phones have defective rear cameras that it's not really risking for.

Sad isn't it. Even it it were a "re-furb" as people like to call them, anything you can touch has been replaced, the unit has been inspected more so than a production unit off the line, I wouldn't think twice about it.
You say that but i had my iPhone 6 replaced with a white box refurb at the beginning of this year and the battery went in it within 6 months! I soldiered on with it until i sold/recycled it in September to get the X.

Well I just checked the battery on my "refurbished" one and it says zero cycles, so I'm good on that front.

I guess this phone is even better than the "new" one I had before, given that it is smooth all around. I inspected it under intense light and it has no scratches anywhere or any blemishes. I still feel a little bit screwed over with a used phone. If this is a used phone, that is, because, as pointed out, there can be no used phones this early in the phone's life cycle. But why brand them refurbished in that case? And why is the frigging capacity shown wrong in the serial number check?

its not refurbished, people just say that because they become refurbished later on.

Its way too early to get a refurbished phone, those are brand new phones. Maybe January they will be refurbished. However, bad news is, once you get a warranty device you loose your 14 day return window. Thats why its better to return not exchange.

Just took my leather case off to clean the phone and maybe run it naked for the weekend. Noticed immediately that the edges feel very rough. Swiping to go back a page it is very noticeable and if I catch my nail on it it isn’t pleasant

I thought it’s supposed to be this seamless join but it isn’t at all. there is a noticeable rough strip between the smooth glass and the smooth steel.

The back glass has a much smoother, more seamless feel as it transitions to the steel

Btw I just noticed that there is a spec of dust under the camera lens cover of my replaced iPhone. At the Apple Store, my main concern were smooth edges, so I didn’t pay attention to the camera then. I’ll exchange it again... One faulty phone... **** happens. Two in a row? Damn.

to revive this thread. my X has one very sharp edge as well, and of course it's the at the bottom where there's no case to cover it (otherwise I wouldn't mind it). at the store they immediately agreed that it's a quality issue and the device should be exchanged. had to do it online though, because they didn't have any stock.

kinda anxious of what's coming. hope the next one is better and doesn't have any other problems (like an even worse screen).

Yes it generally is, I’ve had 5 replacements and the serial number of all of them was “N” which stands for the replacement phone. Model numbers that start with “F” are refurbished

I'm sure you meant Model number start starts with N is replacement unit and Model number with F is a refurb. Because with a brand new retail model starting with M will have a serial number with C, D, F, G.

The only reason Apple agrees that this is a quality issue is because they want you to leave a happy customer. Every X I’ve touched has had a degree of this “issue” present. Enjoy your device!

yes, my bad thats what I meant.

Just stumbled across this...

I have a Space Gray 256gb X and had an issue where my screen went completely black and was never able to get powered back on. Anyway had to do a replacement at apple and began to have an issue where my new phone was having issues connecting to my cars blue tooth, so again Apple had to replace the phone.

The 3rd replacement I got yesterday had such sharp edges it felt like sandpaper on the left side, honestly I've never felt an iPhone like that coming off the production line. The reason I didn't notice is the phone went from the box right into the machine to apply the glass screen protector and than right into my phone case. Only when I got home did I notice it when I took the phone out to just give it a once over. I honestly didn't think this was a wider spread issue but it's kind of crazy that a bunch of phones made it through inspection like that.

Either way a quick ride to 5th ave and they swapped it right out for me, and low and behold...no sharp edges to report!

Space Gray and i do have it. What bother me is that it catches my beard ...

I'll wait a few more weeks and check the problem with the warranty service :)
Same here. It pulls my hair when I’m calling someone.

However, I checked a device in the local Apple store and the one from a colleague and they both have it more or less. The differences are really minimal.

Did you get to replace yours? How’s the new one?

6 iPhone Replacements later, $188 in belkin screen protectors later, and I think Im finally happy with my iPhone, No sharp edges, No display banding, No lint in camera lens, nothing. I think im finally happy with my iPhone.

Yea I know some of you will hate me, I need help yes I know, but after spending that much, I did feel deserving of a perfect device, and Now im very happy. My OCD is gone and I no longer wake up every day to sharp edges and lines in the notch area of my display.

Very funny but no I didn’t return for small silly reasons, more so glaring ones. One of my iPhones and a full human hair in the camera lense.

Sometimes what appears to hairs that are under the camera lens cover, are not actually hairs, they are just fibers from the manufacturing process. Either way, it still shouldn't be there.

If you really had to go through SIX iPhones for "glaring reasons", there are several QA heads at Apple that should be rolling down the hall right now. There is no way you found six "glaring" problems unless nearly every phone has one- which is certainly not the case.

First iPhone had lint in camera lense that moved around when I moved the phone, second had the full hair in it, third and fourth had horrible oled banding issues that were super annoying using apps in the night time when brightness was low. Fifth had sharp edges, which made a gap where you could see the inside of the phone. Sixth is this one, the screen is really blue unlike my last ones but I’m going to deal with it.

I disagree
I am on my 4th phone, and it still has a minor issue.

My first out of the box Space Gray 256 was fine for about 2 weeks and than a slight popping sound came from the screen when the phone was cleaned or just touched hard, a few days later the phone was dead, flat lined and black and Apple couldn't re-start it so they deemed it hardware and replaced on the spot.

2nd Phone had an issue with my cars Bluetooth. No matter what I tried it would connect and disconnect, my 7+ had no issues and the previous X gave me zero issues as well, plus I tried my fathers X and it worked perfectly. Again Apple replaced with no headaches.

3rd had sharp edges down one side of the phone and when looked at very closely you could see the band separating from the screen, AGAIN...Apple replaced immediately!

4th and current has begun the issue of screen popping just like the 1st. It's noticeable, especially in a quite room. Everything else is fine, screen, cosmetics of the device, so my inner OCD right now just doesn't want the headache of doing an exchange again. If it gets really bad I will have no choice but for now I will live with it.

Point of the story... Apples quality control sucks, and these issues are not just showing up on a very small number of phones. Some people just don't care, or just wont notice lint under a screen, or a yellowing display, or screen burn in, or sharper edges, or popping under a screen...However those problems amongst others are there, and it's kind of annoying.

Not necessarily. I opened a brand new one with a serial number that started with F.

No issues so far with my white/silver X. VZW model, 64gb. Loving it so far. Glad this thread was around b/c I have been feeling all over it trying to find any sharp edges. None so far.
