So after using the silver one and comparing it to my friend's SG, it's very obvious that the Silver has a ton more scratches on the stainless steel band than the SG. The Silver definitely stands out more, but not sure in the long run (for resale value) it will hold up as well as the SG.
Thing is that the silver's stainless steel can be polished to the point where it almost looks brand new. So before you sell it then just polish it and it'll look mint. The SG you can't polish; so whatever scratches it does get are there forever.

Lol...silver owner and still on the fence with a return for the Space Gray... Every time a click on an iPhone Video and see that dark stealthy X I just want it..

It’s in a case, but in my world it’s Apple cases only, silicone or leather, and both are open on the bottom and reveal that stainless steel.

Can some owners of the SG chime in and let us know how their phone is holding up?

How do you polish a band that thin without damaging the glass and seal around the screen?

By taking your time. I've polished watches even thinner than these bands without a problem. Polishing isn't something you rush. You do it maybe once a year to make your item look basically brand new again.

Any guides or how-to's that you used?

I'm sure there are plenty of videos on YouTube; be sure to watch a few before you attempt anything. I've been polishing my watches for the past 7 years and was taught by my father. For the iPhone X I'd recommend using polishing cloths (basically pieces of cloth that have polishing compound already in it) opposed to polishing cream so that you don't get any polishing cream in the phone's speaker holes or lightning port. I tend to take the cloth I'm using to polish and make an edge out of it so I can perfectly run it along any areas that are tight or require precision.

Polishing takes practice and time. From my experience, you also should polish no more than once every 12 months. I polish my SS Apple Watch about once every 12-14 months and every time I do everyone always asks me if I got the new Apple Watch because it looks brand spanking new.

Thanks. Do you have any close ups of your AW?

I love the back of the silver X - more of a pearlacent than silver, really gorgeous. The SS band on the front though... makes the X look too much like the 6 to my eyes. I’ve only had it a day so I may get over it, but at the moment I’m leaning slightly towards exchanging for the SG (I’ll be spending 98% of the time looking at the front not the back).

Wasn’t the storage or colour I expected to get but ended up with a SG X 64GB. First SG iPhone I’ve owned since the 3GS.

Polishing watches is one thing, polishing the iPhone X silver band is another:

- There are holes in the phone that will be hard to miss and can get wet with the polish.
- There is the “gasket” surrounding the glass which might be affected by the polish.
- There is the glass/screen itself with oleophobic coating which might react and get destroyed by the polish.

This is the main reason I chose the SG. Other than dropping the phone itself, the only way you can scratch it is well, deliberately scratching it. Normal handling and cleaning won’t give it micro-scratches like in the silver band.

I finally settled for the iPhone X 256Gb Silver. Very happy. Looks amazing in the clear case and my black suede jacket.

I have always been using black or grey iPHones because I never liked the white front. This time was the best chance to try a new color and so glad I did it. Too boring using black all the time. Apart from that, the SG iPhone X reminds me of the Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus. I wanted the 10th Anniversary Special phone to feel and look different.

I have the same thoughts as yours. Space gray is exactly like jet black iPhone 7 Plus. I concur that the iPhone edition color should be different from the past colors. Silver is a magnificent color and a flagship color of iPhone X edition.

How you liking your power support. Thinking of going with the black one to black it out whenever I feeling the black lol. Thinking of getting the clear and black one.

I am really loving the case. I can recommend the clear case. Have not tried the black case so can't comment.

Saw each colour for the first time 'in the flesh' today & as expected, the Space Grey was my fave. The Silver's overly blingy chrome bumper stood out from a mile away & made the thing look dated/tacky.

Space Grey looked slick & flowed from front to back.

I'll get a case with the bottom edge exposed, so the darker bumper of the Space Grey will be shown off in all its glory ;).

I like the fact that when the screen is off the SG does a very good impression of the monolith from the film 2001.

I got the Space Grey 64GB which is the least popular model according to this poll. I was coming from a 128 GB iPhone 7 so I spent some time at the Genius Bar figuring out if everything would come over or not. Since I use iCloud Photo Library, the 50+GB of photos I had on my iPhone 7 stayed in the cloud and only came over to my iPhone X as thumbnails. I picked up the Apple leather case which is the same type of case I used with my iPhone 7. There are 2 ways I know I'm using a new phone. One is that beautiful display and the other is the missing home button. It auto-unlocks with FaceID just about as fast as TouchID used to work for me.

I turned off touch to wake and I use lift to wake instead so I don't activate something trying to put my phone back in my pocket. One thing I liked about the home button is my phone almost never butt-dialed. I'm pretty sure if I left touch to wake enabled, I would have butt-dialed a dozen times by now.

I considered the 256 GB model but I decided to see if I could get away with 64 and so far I'm doing fine. I only have 128 GB on my Macbook Air and I'm somehow able to make do with that so having 4x as much on my phone didn't make any sense.

I initially planned on getting the 64 GB Silver, but then I decided to reserve and pick up one. And availability of the iPhone X here in the Netherlands just sucks. After three days in a row of not being able to reserve my favorite model, I decided to not care about the color anymore.

But now that I actually got the device I'm kinda happy I went for space gray anyway. It looks better than my space gray iPhone 8 Plus did (which at first was partly the reason why I wanted to go for the silver X). :)
