Why mess around... Apple should just give us what we really want...

This was the trial run

Different is not always better. Must have been a thousand other ways to configure the back of this phone. Anyway, a case will go a long way towards minimizing this.

Recent phones have been a toxic hellstew of nonsense with bits of brilliance stirred in... why not make the backplates even a little thicker to handle the cameras and then occupy the rest with... oh, I don't know, MORE BATTERY?!

Perhaps this is why those 3 industrial designers bailed? One can only handle so much foolishness.

So the one time they make the iPhone thicker they can't move the currently hideous camera in-line with the glass back?

Why Apple? Why?
How heavy do you want the phone to be especially considering most people put them in cases?

Because people don’t want heavier phones. Most people put their phones in cases for protection which makes the back flush. And even if the camera was flush with the back people would still be complaining that the layout is ugly.

I wonder why the cameras wouldn't be positioned along a 90 degree angle instead of a triangle like that. That would enable it to take 3D pictures in both landscape and portrait

Can someone check if Ive is okay? The rear design of these phones is terrible.

IMO, the rear of every iPhone since the 6 has looked terrible, this just takes it to a whole new level.

We can hope that this is fake but considering the history of these iPhone leaks it's most likely spot on.

I generally like Apples deigns but this is pretty horrendous in terms of the rear camera. I guess we won't know for sure until we see it up close and personal but from these renderings it looks atrocious. I might for the first time have to skip out on this years new iPhone.o_O

Energizer made a phone for you.

Thicker? Now that's a new design direction. Maybe that's why those 3 guys are leaving the design group to "spend more time with family".

The whole point of a horizontal switch is that you wont accidentally flip it when you put it or pull it out of your trousers. Which could easily happen if it was vertical. The iPad didn't need this as the use case are different.
