So everyone is calling this ugly over a re-designed mute switch?
No, the ugly camera set. It’s awful. Will not get that thing.
[doublepost=1556326573][/doublepost]Does the camera have the mic hole in the glass? The camera glass on my X broke in that very weak spot. Seems to me a larger surface area of exposed glass is more susceptible to getting cracked. Most cases leave the camera glass exposed. Wish the the case makers would design a quick and easy cam flap to protect the cam glass. Maybe I’m alone on this idea.

I can guarantee you that the new upcoming iPhones will have something that everyone will say WOW I need this phone and it will most likely have to do with this new camera lens.

I am saying it could be something as simple as a whole new Camera settings app...not just an update released through the latest iOS but something that ONLY the new phones will have and it will bring picture taking to a whole new level. Picture taking is something everyone does and this will easily get the masses motivated to purchase the new iPhone that has this new feature which compliments the new powerful lens. The camera app won't be backwards compatible so the new features will only be available on the higher end "new" phones.

Thicker will frustrate the bend video peeps.

Thicker plenty good by me. Make it thick enough to submerge the lenses please.

How often are people looking at the camera on the back of a phone to be so offended at the mere sight of it that they won't buy it? I'm far more interested in the screen on the front, if the camera works as intended then who cares how it looks.

Well well well, aren’t YOU just the voice of reason? Rare around these parts!

Plus, most people cover their phone up with a case. So it all matters even less.

I was considering of getting the silver one this time around but if it looks that hideous with lens matching the color casing I’m getting the space gray.

You know, if Apple would really do 3 cameras and don’t know what to do, just freaking copy Huawei. Put the camera in the center, like this

At least, Huawei gets this done in a way that is not fugly.

Really, I don’t mean to pick on anyone in this thread, but the amount of comments are comical that others care about the back of the camera/iPhone. I can’t be the only one who doesn’t care what the back of the phone looks like, right? I mean, if this technology is promising enough where it would entice me to upgrade if the camera proves worthy of that, then by all means, I will. I just have never had an inclination to worry about what a smart phone looks like, as long as it meets my expectations in terms of (quality standards, technology and services), that’s all I could ask for.

[I also gather 99% of iPhone users are use a case as it is, concealing the back of the phone for the most part, so I see this is a non-issue. But I understand everyone has their opinions.]

man, even if this phone got converted with a case, you still gonna see the ugly camera bump everyday. It is like you have a tumer beside your mouth and you are covering it with a mask. No matter how you look at this, this is like ugly as hell.

If you line up three cameras in a line, like Huawei did with their P20 Pro or put the stupid square thing in the middle of the phone, this would not look so ugly.

For me the 5g is going to depend on what is done with data plans. I have no interest in 5g if data plan price goes up or is tiered in some way.

Both Verizon and Tmobile already confirmed that 5G wont be build for masses, but only for highly congested areas. I would honestly forget the 5G and move on with life for another half a decade before anything good (if any) comes out of the this whole mess.

More often than you would think. Lots of people put their phone screen facing down and camera facing up then you add people who don’t cover their phone with case.

Why mess around... Apple should just give us what we really want...

The iPhone 5c cases were ahead of its time!

I really need to know if the iPhone will be switching to USB-C or not.
Why?
No reason for iPhone to use USB-C.
What people want is for Apple to bundle lightning to USB-C cable and USB-C power adapter, which is rumored that Apple would do so this year. No reason for the iPhone itself to have USB-C, which is a much larger port than lightning.

I hope Apple does NOTHING like Huawei.

Considering what Apple has done with the A12 and smart HDR, it will only get better than that. Apple's forte is in its ISP/custom chip+software.

They are deliberately making the 2019 iPhone look ugly and Tim Cook need to resign if he can’t even make the product look appealing.

In fact, Tim Cook shouldn’t even think of developing project titan with so many flaws occur on its flagship product.  is in contradiction of its mantra since unveiling an iPhone X that have a cancerous notch.

Looks like my 6s lives on for another year. There are millions of us that will NEVER buy a phone that uses Face ID and is literally one of the ugliest design compromises in tech history “the notch” if I wasn’t so tied into the apple ecosystem I would’ve been gone 2 years ago
Why won’t apple listen to its customers?

This is how you do three lenses:

Or this:

But what is being shown as Apple's design is just dreadful. I hope those images are wrong, but they have been right so many times that I’m getting a little nervous.

Geez, that silver one looks hideous
Consider that it is not designed by Apple.

What's the point of the mute switch? Can't that be done in software? They should just get rid of it. Next casualty after the headphone jack.
You want a mute switch that can be operated while the phone is in your pocket, or in your handbag, at any time, without seeing the screen. Including when the phone is locked. Including if it is someone else's phone.

I totally agree, it looks so "un-Apple".
It's not designed by Apple. The easiest way to create a "leaked" design is to design it yourself.

These things keep getting thicker and heavier every year.

Reminds me of my ex-wife.
Reminds your ex-wife of her ex-husband :)

It’s depends on trade in cost but I’ve reached a point in my life that’s its stupid and fiscally irresponsible to upgrade $1,000+ Smartphones every year.... I’m waiting until my AppleCare runs out and then I’ll think about what Apple has to offer
Only 2% of customers have ever updated their iPhones every year. Only the ones with OCD that just can't stand the thought of not having the latest phone. And Apple supported that with the S models where half the time, nobody could see that you had a two year old phone.

New iPhones are not aimed at owners of one-year old phones. They are aimed at owners of three year old phones.
