yeah, and did I get this right that China gets real dual SIM, and the rest of the world get's a 1 physical SIM and one eSIM?, … WTF! Now we need to import it form China?
eSIM is better, China carriers just refuse to allow it. If all carriers supported eSIM Apple might be able to actually roll out their (now old) MVNO system allowing the software to manage the carrier activation on the fly based on location, tower congestion, signal strength, etc.
I'm actually curious if the SIM-Free version will be able to activate service just using the eSIM rather than needing to use a nano-SIM for a "Primary" service. The wording on the site seems to indicate it will but it's not clear.
EDIT: Looks like it will support using just the eSIM for supported carriers once the update for enabling eSIM is live.
One of your cellular plans uses a nano-SIM and the other (or others) uses an eSIM. If you don't have a nano-SIM and your carrier supports it, an eSIM can serve as your only cellular plan. The eSIM provided by your carrier is stored digitally in your iPhone.
