This will be a crazy quarter for Apple. The demand for these two phones has been huge and they're not even the big sellers. When the XR goes on sale, that'll be the big one.
We also need to remember that most of their sales do NOT come on release day. They happen in the coming months from people that wander into an Apple Store or other outlet and buy them. Most don't line up to buy on release day like many of us did last night.
You have to look at the bigger picture. Sure, goods in the US may cost less than the same goods in Europe/elsewhere, but we pay for other things that you may not have to. For instance, healthcare is not cheap in the US. Going to University costs a ton in the US. Overall, I would imagine that the standard of living in the US is similar to the other European countries.Xs is 40€ cheaper in Germany than in Italy, but it doesn't really make a difference when you're spending more than 1000€
I think people from the US don't know how cheaper the iPhone is for them, we're talking about $300 (and even more if you live in a state with low taxes) for the Xs and $400 for the Max.
And I guess our average income is lower too. Good for you guys from the US, and Apple is doing great so doesn't need to cut prices on the EU, but they can't expect to sell as many iPhones as they did 4 years ago with iPhone 6 here, they're really too expensive. I guess it is the same in other countries in the world.
I was sitting on the Apple Store app the second it went live. Finished my order within 1 minute and got an October 5th through 12th delivery window. It could not accept me picking it up with a scheduled time at my local Apple store for some reason. Does this seem normal? Could it be because I went with the Max 512gb? That's the only reason I can think of. That maybe there will be fewer of those at launch so they went instantly. Pretty ticked off about the 3 week wait when I know I was through the whole process quick. FYI: Boss woke up an hour after the pre-order started and ordered the 256gb Max and was given September 29 ... I'm just really confused and to I know the 512gb is overkill but for the very first time in my life I'm able to say the heck with it and decided to go all out for once and also preorder for the first time.
Any insight by pre-order pros would be appreciated.

You can't just do a currency conversion and compare. Too many other factors.
People keep parroting this year after year, even after Apple announces record sales. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As a hardware company, Apple has zero incentive to limit sales, and they certainly don't need to resort to this in order to generate hype.
It's going to be like upgrading from an iPhone 1 to iPhone 7 ;-)Count us in as well, both still using pre-ordered Series 0 from May 2015!
I've always been able to understand Apple's pricing policy somewhere and was willing to pay the premium, but this goes too far for me. 1319€ = 1494$ for iPhone Xs 256 GB.
There is no "process" that can get millions of complicated phones built in a shorter amount of time. The available manufacturing lines are what they are and they are sized so they will be busy all year long.
The only "process" that would work is to start final manufacture of phones a month or so earlier, then store larger amounts of phones for longer period of time. Doing that would vastly increase possibility of leaks of working phones. It would also cut a month or so off of an already short development period, taking away a month of time to innovate on that model. Apple doesn't want to do that. They already, obviously, stock several weeks of full scale production. But to really satisfy first day demand, they would have store many more weeks of production.
You Americans are lucky.Thta's messed up. In the US, $1449 gets you a 512GB XS Max.
I also had an Oct ship date after just a few minutes. But I picked in store pickup for the 21st and that worked fine. Perhaps the in store slots filled up in between you seeing the options and finalizing the order. On Apple launch days, seconds matter.
