I don’t have any stutter playing videos from prime or Netflix. Don’t play games on my phone. Whether it’s my settings or not I don’t know, but no stutter during video.

Since you do not experience any discomfort, it may be better not to write about it because we belittle the problem which for us means the end of cooperation with Apple. You pay heavy money there are no compromises otherwise let it get off the price.

Depends what Video format but when watching 4K the phone struggles to maintain 60 hz. This is all a different subject though. Would be good if there was an automatic setting like in the apple 4k tv. Anyways the main issue is the UI of this phone and why the throttling in idle modes to save battery life is acceptable as a compromise for customers to experience stuttering. if this is the norm in all new phones or not because all older phones I have had were smooth. If you can put up with it, then that’s great but for me, I hate it and would prefer the smooth UI of the older models without the stuttering.

I share this sentence in 100%, I am convinced that expressing our dissatisfaction in mass numbers, we will induce Apple to focus not on nonsense but on things that are important to us, in fact we decide because we pay our expectations. Why at the time of the presentation did not show these changes that in the wash come out in the negative. We always look at their test devices that are perfectly prepared, use all potential. Editors for testing also receive models free from defects. We find the equipment of the inferior sort get hard for money, and that's not enough to ask for patching holes in the software that Apple does not want to admit.
[doublepost=1553428369][/doublepost]Please note that iphons are not important whether new or old are just a vessel for perfectly optimized software that has always been IOS. Apple keeps them only for yourself and for exclusive use. Since the launch, the iPhone X has not adapted the software so as to eliminate the weaknesses of the Oled panel. they should focus on this. In the meantime, new devices appear and they will not admit to the problem. If Oled actually has it to yourself that it is slightly smudged or is not free of defects then you need to adjust the software so as to cover all the shortcomings. At the moment, my wife does not want to change her 6s because she claims that in terms of basic functions she is fluent in action. Nobody will look into the future if one has to go backwards.

Yes, I do not experience any discomfort because the issue does not happen on my phone. Hardware and software is intricate and issues sometimes not entirely replicated. However I’m satisfied with my max.

I want the battery saving and don’t want stutter. There is some odd random stutter that occurs on my phone, but nothing reliably replicated. My 6s also had some random stutter.

I'm happy with you. However, here we stick to the topic and problem that concerns us. I suggest sharing in the subject "My iPhone works great"

I am trying to understand the issue which is why I am posting in this thread. Not affecting all Xs is important to note as if you are discussing all stutters, some stutters, one stutter in particular. It’s important to understand this.

My iPhone 7 is soo smooth and quick in tasks or animations , but my Xs max is garbage... I will return my phone Monday .. I’m feeling soo disappointed.. i was a apple “fan boy” from the first iPhone 2 .. but “it’s not working anymore :( .. galaxy is 10 is sooo quick now and the animations are soo smooth compare to my Xs max ... my 15 inch MacBook Pro 2018 it is rubbish compare to my old MacBook 15 inch 2015 .. for me it’s enough so literally I invested 4700 £ this is for rubbish things but it’s alright I will move on ..

For us, it is only important to pay attention to the problem so that Apple, by its grace, will take appropriate steps. Only we are interested in a bright and powerful message. Therefore, saying this now only for myself I will not buy a new IPhone until they show that they did not overthrow the owners of previous versions. For me, the cure for poor optimizations is not to turn off all the visual effects on the phone because I paid to have it. And I do not like to put money in the toilet.

You feel just cheated. Theoretically, with a proper class action lawsuit, you can claim your rights to sell products that are a truncated version of those from advertising and misleading people, hiding defects and shortening the life of devices.

I don't know how far a class action suit on a random stutter will go. However, filing a lawsuit is easy, winning is more difficult.

You must work for apple too ? Lol.

Apple are trying to avoid a possible lawsuit because they removed the apple thread on the stutter issues. Remember the apple thread that had more than 1500 people on that acknowledged and hit the me too Button ? Still disgusted that apple removed it without saying why. So many people have replaced or exchanged their phones because of the problem.

Just being realistic. How many xs/xs max were potentially sold? Tens of millions vs a forum thread. How many people actually experienced the issue, vs how many people have the issue and maybe ignored it, vs how many people don't have an issue. It's not inconceivable that some people don't have an issue. A thread that is removed can easily be surfaced during discovery in a lawsuit. Not saying the issue doesn't exist, but it's possible that it's a small percentage of the total xs/xs max sold that apple has to concentrate on.

An internet thread is not indicative of the scope of any issue.

A faulty batch. Is this possible ? But even the people that have managed to get a replacement are still reporting the issue on their replacements. I’ve gone from an iPhone 6s which was perfect to an XR and then an XS. My XR had the stutter as I noticed it straight away so I had the opportunity to replace to an XS. Unfortunately the XS has the same issue but more. So there may be millions of people out there that do not notice it because they are used to it with the newer models. It’s a shame and as I mentioned before, I would be happy to give up a bit of battery life if the UI gets stutter free. Throttling in idle states has been mentioned a lot on several forums. it still bugs me that no one actually knows why the scrolling and stutter after inactivity ? Why screen record illuminated the problem for most ? Why the silence from Apple ?

I notice some odd stuttering here and there. But my max is not a stutterfest. A poster said their XR had stutters opening and closing folders. That clearly isn't the case on my max. Some apps may need to be recompiled to take advantage of apis in ios 12, that's on the app developer. I don't have the stutter on a continual basis in Safari, I've examined the UX closely.

Millions of people may not notice it, because either they are used to it, or it doesn't exist. It's hard to say. Maybe auto-brightness is a factor. Hard to say.

There is an issue but not the developer fault.

Don’t think the developers are at fault. Read the following link:

https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/109459

The developers are also struggling to get perfection on their apps with the new phones. I notice severe frame rate drops and stutters in gaming. My iPad Air2 the same games are smooth with no stuttering and jitters. Opening and closing folders is intermittent for me and the stutter is always there after about 10 sec of inactivity when closing and opening apps or moving from home screens. The scrolling stutter kicks in also after a short period when coming off that idle state. None of this happened on all my old devices and this is why it is noticeable for me any many others. Maybe the software can’t keep up with the hardware. I still think the phone is rubbish and for a stuttering UI with a high price tag this makes me upset. Fully granted that there are people out there that can live with this, but some prefer performance and smooth UI over crap stutters here and there. Most of us have disabled nearly all the good features on this phone (including auto brightness) to make it smoother, but the problem still persists.

It's my head to let everyone see what the problem is. And those who ignore cease, the blind eyes opened. There will be an end to their ignorance.

I've seen that one link before. FWIW I dislike eye candy and have reduce transparency and reduce motion on since my 6s. Maybe that is why in my use case, there are no stutters. But it goes back to many variables when diagnosing a problem. Auto-brightness is NOT disabled.

FWIW, I like the max and think it's worth every penny I paid for it. People have different views on the phone based on their own styles.

Reducing the motion does work with the app opening and closing stutters, but we shouldn’t have to do this. Gaming and scrolling stutters are still there even with reduced motion. The point is, why desalted features to improve the UI.

That's the point, the fact that you need to turn off half of the function makes you pay for what? it is the basis for winning the dispute. I bought an iPhone only because animations were always running smoothly, unlike Android devices. Tell me to turn off the animations to solve the problem, this is a scam! As far as I know, the number of dissatisfied customers grows Apple will officially lose twice than he will admit. Fanboys who turn the cat's tail will not help them.

Can you give me an example of where scrolling stutters occurs? What app does it occur in?

When you have your finger fixed on the screen and scroll up or down; there is jitter/stutter. Some time I give up and close the app. Swiping the finger slowly up and down whilst releasing contact from the screen works better. This happens in the following apps for me but in general the whole system:

Safari
Facebook
Messages
The iPhone setting
All games (panning up and down) especially landscapes
WhatsApp
Messenger
Google maps & the apple maps.
App Store
iTunes Store

Hard to explain but it’s there! And never had it on my older devices. Maybe the 120 hz touch technology needs calming down. But the app closing and opening is a bugger and needs improving.

It’s almost like you have to change the way your fingers connect to the screen to avoid the stuttering if you know what I mean. Have adapted a swift swipe and release as supposed to constant finger swipe and hold to avoid the nasty jitters.
