Oh boy. Well, this only furthers my theory that even if your phone stutters, you might not see it.

@Robertoxxxl - Yeah, I was talking about a 120hz screen refresh rate, a.k.a. Apple's ProMotion.

I guess my vision is too good, lol.

That was also my point in my post - some people may just not be able to perceive it and it may not necessarily be due to vision issues.

It’s not a theory , it’s a issue ! iPhone X is smooth but slow .. Xs max now it’s slow , it’s lagging and it’s stuttering a lot . I have a fried witch is developing iOS apps and he said that apple with iOS 12.3 beta 2 has slowed down animations , he is struggling every day to optimize animations to be fluid but he told that’s impossible because of apple software !
I don’t know why you people are defending apple in this situations??? Do they offering you benefits ???

I am not defending Apple, I don't see where you're getting that. I am simply saying that I don't see these issues. Your last comment is insulting. OK, Apple sucks - is that better? And yes, it sounds like Beta 2 also sucks.

If in older iPhone models all games, the application, the entire interface is synchronized to the level of their resolution, refresh the screen 60 hz and the device is able to generate a fixed 60 fps then we have the best possible experience. Today, they are launching new models and all with oled screens, which, as you know, has its shortcomings for this maladjusted applications, games and homescreen, constant upscaling, downscalling, People are disappointed to understand this ?! As everyone would know that it is supposed to look like it would have been in possession of p30 or s10 for a long time, it is not perfect either, but at least they have other advantages which apple can only dream about with its way of thinking.

Heh. I'm curious...which of these do you believe to be true:

1) My phone is not actually stuttering, as I've claimed.
2) My phone is stuttering just like yours, but my standards are so amazingly low that I am incapable of seeing it.
3) My phone is stuttering, and I do see it - but I'm lying about it and refuse to admit this. Because [reasons].

I'm pretty sure #1 is completely off the table. I'm guessing you may be in the #2 camp, but I also believe there are folks in this thread who would bet actual money on #3.

Re: my comment about the impacted devices - I was just throwing out a theory. That comment wasn't about regional differences specifically. I meant that a certain batch may have left the factory with some kind of manufacturing or software change/error, and these are the devices that ended up in your neck of the woods. I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that manufacturing processes (or merely tolerances) are adjusted slightly over time, which could somehow impact the performance of the devices. At least, no more of a stretch than claiming that every single XS-series phone ever produced suffers from the same serious flaw. Which 99% of the user population can't see.

As an example: didn't the original "bendgate" snafu lead to some quietly-implemented manufacturing changes, stiffening the phone's chassis? I could've sworn I'd read that. I'll see if I can find any supporting information. Wouldn't want to be accused of demonstrating low research standards

For me, I’ll stick with the alleged stutter, rather than going android. Apple offers to much in the way for me to switch. This also applies to my wife and 40 others in the extended family. It all depends on the individual.

My standards have always been very high and I have always been very good at attention to detail. So from coming from older versions of phones that did not stutter, I have definitely seen a difference in newer ones with the stuttering. My XR was so bad I assumed something was wrong and replaced it with the XS. Replacing the device was easy because the store agreed there was an issue. The XS had the same issue but worst, probably something to do with OLED screens. As for a bad batch, I don’t understand as there are a lot of people around the world with this problem and I am on my third replacement Xs over a period of 7 months. As for categorising what group I am in, I suppose you can put me in whatever group your opinionated to put me in but I don’t care. Would not lie about the stuttering because what would that gain me. My issue is simply the fact that why should I put up with stuttering UI and scrolling issues in newer devices. I still can’t find any new phones that do not have the issue in store. The scrolling issue is not on any older devices so why the new ones and why should we have to put up with it.

Also, really happy with the results of the new Beta so it appears that the UI can be improved or even fixed and will look forward to the new updates. Very strange that this update has improved the stuttering across our affected phones, but people who say they did not have the issue, have said that they feel the UI has slowed down in recent updates. Yes, slowed down but with less stutters and I would rather this be the case and compromise over battery performance. Would make sense if the frame rates were slowed down to mask the odd jitter here and there but not sure. Of course people with low quality standards and low attention to detail would not be bothered.

These days there are more products getting rushed out too quickly without extensive testing, especially products with OLED, 4K HDR technology, not all these products are perfect with constant software updates to fix issues. Just like when the 4K Apple TV got released without automatic frame rate/ resolution ability resulting in jittery video playback with dropping frame rates. Spent months complaining about that until it was fixed. That’s probably why people are complaining about video playback because there is no ability to choose what frame rate and resolution is being shown and the phone is trying to upscale and is stuck on 60hz.

I pay a lot of money for my gadgets and expect high standards. As I previously mentioned, I will not make this mistake again and wait at least a year to see how the products doing before getting it.

I agree with you in 1000%. And as to the release of animation, the point is that there is a problem with proper synchronization. If we accelerate the animation, the effect of the earlier Stuttering will be intensified. The chance to synchronize each frame is better if we decrease the speed of the animation. Unfortunately, this also does not pose a problem because we will go back to what was in IOS 11. The solution is to introduce the Dark theme of the whole Interface, plus a new type of scaling on the example of NOVA, the ability to intervene in speed and transparency. in 99% everyone would be happy, something nice for everyone.

Finally !! I’m glad that you see what is apple doing ! Also they have a very bad power management , with the battery at 100% my Xs max is freaking slow , at 60 or 50 percent it’s a little bit smooth , it’s like the phone is in a continuous lower power mode ...

Because that's the way it is, there are several modes that automatically switch on. To have 100% full potential of the device, you can only use 55%. You paid for it? It's a scam! Only the ignorant and the Blind do not want to admit that it is. for this you do not need a sage even a child will notice.

I made a test between my Xs max and my iPhone 7 , what I can say .. my iPhone 7 is opening apps very quickly ( I can say that is twice faster than my Xs max in animations , literally in everything .) I paid 1400 £ for my Xs max witch is rubish .. I cannot watch to a video or something because I see lots of stutter and frame drops .. what is the explanation of apple ?? They are deleting topics from the official apple forums to hide this thing . What they are hiding ??

I guess what they are hiding. They drowned a pile of money in Oled panels, which in the perception of half of us fall out pale VS IPS panel. Instead of the advent of IOS 12, focus to unnoticeably fix it, introducing the solutions mentioned earlier, the software has cut all the advantages of the Oled panel to a minimum. Do you think that it is just stuttering? after all, in IOS 12 they have disappeared the whole color profile which is like washed up in relation to IOS 11. Instead of dazzling potential and depth of color, they can not get along with YOUTUBE and you can not turn on content higher than 1080p. You paid for it ?! You have not even seen what is waiting for you by spending so much money because incompetent sales point staff offer exchanged devices from other ones previously returned with the same defect.

So does your device stutter or are you having YouTube issues.

Your rant isn’t making much sense.

So your unhappy with you iPhone XS Max, why don’t you replace it under warranty?

When writing such things, you can see that you are not on a regular basis in the subject everyone spoke on this issue, and how many times he exchanged his devices. I advise you to go back a few pages and familiarize yourself with the topic before you write something meaningless.

While you are entitled to the product you want, I wonder if you are chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Seems like you have to decide if Apple is for you, as you stated above. I would be surprised if Apple fixed every micro stutter in every corner of iOS. I can only speak for myself, but every product has its pluses and minuses. I wouldn’t put up with stuttering watching a video though.

Everyone tries to present possible solutions, it is not about perceiving the matter through a prism or black and white.

There apparently is no solution while the rest of us who say their phone doesn’t stutter have the issue but don’t notice it or lie about it for various reasons. Is that correct?

You wrote yourself before that in later updates Apple should fix it. Waiting is free, exchange for Android is the last resort in which each of us can fall from the rain into the gutter. The term "premium seller" obliges us to constantly raise standards and in relation to earlier Iphone models in some aspects can not be mentioned.

Anyone that has followed these threads and has been an Apple customer for a while, would lie Apple has their own timeline for fixing things. But it’s clear there are different symptoms across different phines (related tonsettings maybe). My iPhone has some odd micro-stutters in random places, but I’m not going to let that reduce my enjoyment. Notice it yes, care about it yes. Hope Apple fixes it yes. Move to android because if it. No.
