Read the last page. Seriously, YouTube scrolling lags in iOs?
Having an snapdragon 801 work phone and it FLYES in YouTube. It must be sun radiation or Google for lags in this app.

Wow... is this seriously still not fixed?? This was the final reason that made me return my XS at launch and just keep the X.

A stutter fix suggested on reddit, mine was on, just turned it off and I haven't tested enough to confirm or deny. I felt that the information had to be passed on. Let me know what you guys notice with the option off

https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/cy03dy/finally_found_a_fix_for_stuttersframe_drop_on_xs/

I haven't had a stutter since applying this fix. I am on 12.4 and my phone is buttery smooth as it should. My phone was mostly smooth anyway with 12.4 but I had random stutters here and there. I have done that idle 10+ second in an testing and swiping back to the homescreen and all that and still no stutter.

i have iphone xs max and iam having a scrolling stutter while my finger on screan and it happen in apps with a long list like messages iam but its smooth with safari running ios 12.4.1. and here is an example

So on Monday I updated to 12.4 (restored and set up as new device) and I wish I would have done so sooner because the stutter is gone on my XS! I’ve tried letting the phone sit for 10, 20, even 30 seconds without interacting with it in every app I have and swiping or tapping a icon or closing the app doesn’t cause stutter at all anymore.

I was on 12.1.1 and my XS had REALLY bad stutter to where if you touched the screen after a few seconds of inactivity it would drop SEVERAL frames. I mean it was really bad, this phone was a stuttering mess and I’m extremely sensitive to frame drops so I was really unhappy. I regretted getting this phone instead of the X, hell I was ready to get an iPhone 11 Pro on launch day not because it’s a decent upgrade because from what I’ve seen it isn’t. It was so I could be rid of this phone finally but it feels like a completely new phone so now I’m keeping my XS another year.

I hope you all have solved you stutter issues!

I think I found a possible fix for stuttering.
A friend of myne who owns 2 x, 2 xs maxes and one XR had the exact same issues. I also played with his phones long enough to realize that in fact there is a problem. He somehow removed one cheap glass screen protector and the phone worked fine after 24 hours. Then he removed another silicone screen protector and again the phone was faster.
Cold it be that the touch input is affected by cheap screen protectors and silicone ones?
And what's the thing with 24 hours. Does it mean that it involves some sort of AI regarding touch behavior?
I repeat, this is his story, not mine, but he is a nice person and trustful. It might do the trick.

I changed my screen protector more than 10 times. Nothing happened and still stuttering.

Yes but still stutter
Restore your phone and restart it as new (Not from backup). You'll still have contacts and photos. If that doesn't work take it to the Apple store. I just tried that on my XS Max running 12.4.1 without a screen protector and can't see any stutter. It's possible that my eyes aren't picking it up I guess? The only time I've had any sort of lag with my phone is lately when it's plugged into the battery case. I think I've dropped it one too many times :)

I restored my iPhone XS Max to iOS 13 (Public release) in recover mode. while still can see animation or scrolling stutter, but seems the phone is much faster and smoother. now I can enjoy using my iPhone.

I was just at the local Apple store to pick up my watch and played around with the new iPhone Pro Max and was somewhat dismayed to see even worse stutter in Safari scrolling than on my (returned) XS Max. I went to the Apple site in Safari on both the new phone and on my old iPhone 7+. I then scrolled from the top to bottom on both phones. On the new phone, initially there was considerable stutter - this diminished a bit as I continued to scroll. But it still consistently stuttered at one place in the middle of the page. I did the same thing on my 7+ and it was silky smooth at all times, no matter how many times I scrolled.

I showed it to both a salesperson and my wife and they didn't notice it! I needed to point out exactly what I was talking about to my wife before she saw it. I think this is the reason for Apple not fixing it - relatively few people either see it or are bothered by it. What is a gross lack of smoothness in the operation to me is normal to most people.

I've tried to look for some type of stutter or anything while scrolling safari and anything else and I couldn't see anything. Maybe my vision is in old school 24 FPS instead of 120 FPS LOL

Hello all! I mentioned it more than once in my earlier posts. Don't buy new iPhones in the hope that the stuttering problem will disappear with the arrival of new Hardware. It's the opposite. IOS optimization for new devices lasts over a year. This is because people first buy then think. My iPhone XS only on IOS 13.1 Beata 3 works perfectly, before it was a massacre. Buying it I had the impression that I received an office that works on 1/3 of its capacity. Only the emphasis on prioritizing optimization instead of buying a new blind can be effective.
