iPhone XS Proves Faster Than iPhone X but Slower than Galaxy Note 9 in LTE Speed Test

I think one of the great thing is that this proves if that under the same received -dbm, Intel's Modem is finally performing very close to Qualcomm's offering.
The problem?
iPhone Xs are not getting the same signal strength under the same circumstances. So far the figures points to roughly 5 -db loses. So you should read the graph with that in mind.

I think that a lot of tech articles like this forget the most important reality. Few of us these days just buy a mobile phone to make calls and send text messages. Most of us have an entire ecosystem of products. For me I have a MacBook Pro, an iPad Pro and now the iPhone XS Max. All three devices perform very well and more importantly work extremely well together.
Even if I were to believe that Samsung or Google had produced a significantly superior phone, would it fit with my other devices better than the XS Max? I hardly think so.
Is there any cell phone on the market that would encourage me to throw out my entire ecosystem, and buy a new laptop, new tablet, all new software and media? Because that would cost about $10K or more. Unlikely to happen.
So I don't really care about other phones, I just buy the best one Apple makes each year, and so far I've been very well satisfied over multiple products from multiple generations in the past seven or eight years.

It kind of makes sense doesn’t it. If other oems found out that intel modems are just as good as Qualcomm, their monopolistic practices would have to end.
And Qualcomm really doesn’t want that.
The biggest problem with apple of late, is their penny pinching to save a few cents here and there, as the prices of their products have increased quite a bit. For what they charge for these phones now, everything should be top shelf but its not. They could put better components in them. But that would take away from their already inflated margins. Unfortunately you don't completely get what you pay for with apple. They have gotten worse. The intel modem's have been a big nightmare since iphone 7. They are more about greed than ever. They have gotten sloppy in hardware and software too. They honestly don't deserve the returns and profits they have been getting. But as long as there are enough people making excuses for them it wont stop and will only get worse.
Note 9 clearly has the best screen, I own both and I can see with my own eyes.
If you look carefully at the posters that are upset, it usually the ones that have no interest in the iPhone. It’s just more of the same.

Exactly, isn’t the real story here why the networks are so slow across the pond. Over here to the east the investments gone where it matters, and then one can respond with rolls Royce style answers when someone enquiries about the speed; it’s enough

No it doesn’t, what is had is the screen you prefer. What you prefer and what is best can be different which is fine. But let’s not confuse matters.

Care to show me an alternative phone form any oem that matches apples current hardware;
You know, 7nm soc, 8core npu, 3d facial biometrics, the fastest on board storage with nvme, edge to edge flat display without a forehead or nasty chin.
There is much more but let’s just stick with that.

And Apple did of course selectively pick the phone to send for test, so I don't suppose they picked an LG screen model to send them.
WHAT are you talking about? "Try harder"... seriously? Do you really view the latest iPhones as lacklustre products? What more do you want that's possible with modem technology?
This viewpoint that somehow Apple is barely making any effort is completely misaligned with reality. People that see the world through that lens have zero appreciation for (or clue of) just how complex today's smartphones are. Apple is achieving a level of finished product unmatched by the completion when *all* factors are considered.
