iPhone4S Shipment Status: Backordered!

Well I'd be concerned if the automated system doesn't recognize ur order #. Not saying it's means u won't get ur phone on launch day, but it's just another thing to worry about in the unreliable world of iPhone preorders. All u can do is hope that everything goes smoothly and ur phone shows up on Friday (maybe even Thursday). But I am sure come next Friday there will be people saying they ordered at 3:30am who didn't get their phones, and people who ordered at 3:30pm that did. That's why I hate depending on shipments. I loved the pre-order with in store pickup. It made me feel like I was more in control of getting my device on launch. Anytime there are automated systems, thousands upon thousands of orders all coming in at the same time, and a limited supply, u can't bet that somewhere along the line there are gonna be a few problems. U just have to hope that ur not one of the unlucky ones.
Another thing to check is ur upgrade status for the line u just upgraded. If it shows 5/8/2013 (or somewhere around that date) it's a good sign that ur order does exist.

611 order status works
It's that one system that does not work.

Maybe because I am a AT&T premiere customer - but that number that was posted does not pull my order. as calling 611 does.
I just checked mine and the backordered column now says zero. It also says pending shipment. I don't recall what it said before but I know it did say backordered when I checked it yesterday.
no longer says backordered for me, that entire column is gone now and under status is says processing. Relieved to no longer be seeing that stupid back ordered note though, haah.
What is the size and color of your iPhone 4s and did you order through ATT website?
First iPhone and all but you're gonna think I'm nuts. I don't want it to come until Friday so my cases and screen protector can come first. 😀 No way in HE** will I use a naked Apple product.
If you purchased your IPHONE throughout AT&T Premiere you CAN NOT check your order status by called 18663910749 - The automated system will not find your order - I waited on hold and the rep. told me that they can not access AT&T Premiere orders.

Ordered late Friday evening through Premier website. Till yesterday morning, it also said "Pre-Order Item: 14-21 Days", its disappeared now.

ATT website shows "Backordered" with "Pending Shipment"

Ditto guys, my AT&T order (placed at 5 a.m. Central on Friday) no longer indicates "Back-ordered" and instead is listed as "Processing". On the order status results page it's showing "In Progress", quantity back-ordered zero, and Pending Shipment.
So are the phones actually shipped from the point of manufacture in China, or has AT&T/Apple amassed a quantity of them here in the U.S. already? This is the first time I've actually ordered an iPhone for delivery as opposed to going to the Apple store.
