Tip of the hat, to that! I though of that myself quite recently!

Well, you never know! Personally I'd hope that the next iPod is a phone-less iPhone (i.e. full screen multi touch) but maybe Apple will make us wait for that for a little longer.

Or, the extreme alternative would be that, conversely, the full screen multi-touch video iPod has already been released - and it is the new iPhone! The iPod itself will remain as is, and if people want the "new" iPod they'll have to buy an iPhone. ;) :D

Barf!!!:(:( If real, they obviously weren't designed by Jonathan Ive. They look ugly and not very ergonomic (In my opinion anyway).

Agreed, but keep in mind Ive doesn't design absolutely all of Apple's products... ;)

They're real...sorry guys. Gizmodo got a C&D from Apple Legal. They're real.

Yes, but as has already been discussed in this thread, a C&D order does not necessarily mean that the pics are real. Yes, it makes the possibility greater, but perhaps Apple wanted them removed because those hideous mock-ups would tarnish their image! :p ;) :D

I don't understand why people say that don't like it. If it were just a 6G video ipod, I'd agree. But...

Assuming this is a replacement for the iPod Nano, at close to the same price point, how can you possibly complain?

For close to the same money to get a much bigger screen and a video iPod. Seems like a no brainer. This is an AWESOME new Nano.

I assume the video iPod will get replaced with an iPhone without the phone. Another AWESOME new iPod.

If these are real, the colors aren't that bad really. What you have to do is take the image off the site, open it in Preview/Photoshop/whatever and change the color settings. Crank up the saturation, change the White Point, and you get it. You should try and match the colors of the 3 dots on the title bar at the top as close as you can. That crimson once altered doesn't look that bad really. The blue, ehh... I could care less, green looks decent, silver and black. Well, they're silver and black...

IMO they look too stumpy. I also think that Apple's products all look sleek and elegant, but these do not! I would hope that these are fake and the Nano keeps its current form

People's major complaints are centered around the aesthetics, not the price points, functionality, etc.

The current Nano is pretty thin..I'm not sure how much thinner is can get(before snapping starts to happen)

Usually it's Safari that feels snappier after updates, not Nanos!

Oh, I crack myself up...

aluminum is the new thing right now with apple...and glass...so they wont ditch aluminum

Someone must be selling it to them for cheap. Remember business try and save every possible penny from the bottom line. So very little warehousing.

Zoom 9to5mac's image by 200% and hold your nano up to the screen. Rather conveniently, the clickwheels in the image will match up pretty closely. It would make a whole lot of sense to carry that part over from the 2G nano. So I took a stiff-piece of paper and marked off the "new nano's" width and folded it. It fit nicely in my jeans' coin pocket without bending.

Nano and Video Ipods are discontinued...

I was at my local Target today looking to purchase a pink Nano, but they did not have any instock. I asked an employee if they had any in the back, he said the Nano and Video ipod were discontinued in there system. And was not sure if they would be getting any more back. I guess this could mean that the new ones could be coming out soon.

Given the scale, that doesn't look too bad. Obviously I have too much time on my hands, so I did my own mock-up making the click wheels the same size...
Interestingly, when I copied a leaked image of the the new (6G?) interface it scaled perfectly to the screen size on the images released today...
I don't think it looks too bad. Not too much different, but with a huge increase in the screen size.

How would this new nano compare in width to the 5.5g ipod? Anyone care to make a mockup?

The click-wheel won't be smaller than the actually nano wheel, knowing this you can lay a picture of the nano over the wheel and compare it, who needs a mockup? xD

Wow... someone mentioned the main reason this has to be fake and it seems no one even noticed.

If any of you work in ANY type of advertising job, you all know the photoshop image (which I guarentee is what apple uses) has to be quite large... and for a company like Apple... the image would have to be AT LEAST big enough to fit on a poster, if not billboard. Now obviously an image wouldn't be the size of a building, but it would have to be larger than what is shown to us... and if you look at the image... the image size beside the name says 100%. NO apple ad, in the photoshop form, would be able to fit on a single computer screen at 100%. if so, then the new ad campaign is going to be Nano also.

This one thing proves that this image is fake, or apple is making the LOWEST quality iPod ad ever. Also add in that the product looks like crap and they named it "NanoFlower.PSD" which would be dumb since i am sure there is more than one ad being made. Wouldn't there be a number involved... or date... or person... or anything else than what a kid who was making a fake ad would type???

Finally for everyone saying this may not be a nano and could be another ipod... the name of the alleged file is "NanoFlower.PSD"... that would probly count out it being the video or anything else but the nano.

The C&DO was given most likely not because it was a real ad, but because things like this spread and then next thing you know, everyone on the internet things this fake ad is the new nanos, and people commenting defending that an obviously lousy cell phone shot of a horribly created Nano ad is the next generation... and then stock drops. If someone created an image of you naked and put it online (and it is obviously fake, but people believe it may be you) would you ask them to take it down or take legal action... or would you just let it happen. You guys are WAY too gullible.

While this is a nice theory, it is not true.

Apple has never Cease and Desisted a fake image and afaik Apple has no legal grounds to cease and desist a fake image

MMmm. Its going to be a long 3-4 weeks to see what happens.

The nano seems to be replacing the current Pod for features and the new iPod I guess will end up being a phoneless iphone with a big HDD...

Featurewise, I think the nano will be on par with iPod, yes. But storage wise, not by a long shot. I think the iPod (regular) will have wireless features, but not as fully developed as on iPhone. Song sharing, perhaps? Downloading your iTunes library through Wi-Fi?
