I bought an iPod shuffle for my wife, and now I want one too!
Well, I just loaded my wife's 'shuffle' up with Rolling Stones songs and Italian Lessons to test it out. It's awesome. I know I'm a newbie, but I've owned a bunch of different Macs and I have to say I think this is one of the best designed products Apple's ever come out with. From the button layout, to the LED that shines through the white plastic, even though it looks opaque (I love the little things), to the power/setting switch on the back that's flush with the rest of the iPod, to the integrated battery level indicator, to the USB connector on the bottom, to the great sound, this thing rocks! When the USB cap is on, it almost looks like a solid piece of white plastic with a little button pad on it. I've got it plugged into a USB hub (powered) at the moment, and it works great. I'm working on a book right now and have it backed up on this 'shuffle'. Of course, it's also on two other hard drives, uploaded on server space and on a cd too. I mean, I'm not that daring!
I know there are smaller players out there, but I think once you get down to a certain size, a really small but usable size, then anything beyond that is useless to me. It's like telling me you've just come out with the world's smallest PDA, complete with Wi-Fi and a web browser. But, if I can't read the screen without holding it 2 inches from my face, why bother.
I know I've raved, but I haven't been this excited abount a new "toy" in a long time. I have two iPods already, and bought this 512 MB one for my wife. I'll be getting the 1 GB for myself when it's available in the Orlando Apple Store. Pick one up for yourself. I think you'll love it!
