Does anyone else get the attached message when trying to log into the Uk store? Do you reckon the store orders have overloaded it :p

I get the same message trying to log on in the Canadian store but only in Safari. Try using Internet Explorer (*gasp*), it's worked on there.

3-5 weeks!!

4 week wait for the 1GB iPod shuffle if you have not already ordered one

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/TECH/ptech/01/18/ipod.shuffle.reut/index.html

Unless of course you are lucky enough to live close to an Apple store with some in stock.

I ordered my iPod Shuffle Jan. 15th and the shipping date is on or before Feb. 23rd 2005. Yipes.

The local apple retailers say that they won't be getting them in until sometime near the end of Feb.

Sucks to be Canadian. Not even a chance to get one early.

I bought 3 today for friends and my Shuffle is already coming apart! The play/pause button is already coming off. I'll be back on Saturday and return it for a 1 gb version. Hopefully that'll hold. :(

controls

I've read almost all posts but I still have a question about controls.
I know that if you hold down back and forward skip buttons you can scrub through the songs.

My question is: are the ff and rew controls exactly the same as those on iTunes? In iTunes if you hold down the ff button the fast forward speed amounts progressively. Is it the same with iPod shuffle?

Thanks :)
Lap.

I'm getting one !!! Its not reached stores in malaysia yet but my friend is heading to singapore for the weekend so he's getting me a 512 model. I'm going to get 1 of these 1st and wait till the updated version of the mini comes out. i hope its sometime this year.

What is the likely timeframe for a usb auto charger to come out? Don't see that Apple made one for the initial release. Has anyone heard of one already in the works?

I really hope this is a one off issue, Apple need to make sure this isn't a design/cutting corners flaw because even for £69 i want it to last. Or because there is such high demand that they are abandoning quality control

There was an article about taking the Shuffle apart (I think I saw it in Mac Bytes) and it looked difficult to get off—it had to be pried off with a knife, as I recall, and it required cutting a membrane, so I doubt that this is a widespread problem.

I live in Toronto and I ordered a 1 gig the day of the keynote. It will ship on or before Jan. 27th.

I ordered one from the Canadian Apple store by phone and the guy I talked to said that they were really happy that they were available in Canada immediately.

Accessory received

Ok, ordered 1GB iS, plus 3 peripherals 1/11/05.

Received Nike (jogging) earphones today. Black. Just assumed they would be white. Oh well.

iS open to ship 1/24.

Dock open to ship 2/24!

Sport cover open to ship 2/25.

Going back to hibernate.

Is it just me, or did the package of Trident gum on the shuffle page just change? Wasn't it not orange before? Could this mean... Powerbook G5s at last!?!?

In other news, immediate Canadian availability is great - I was thrilled. However a little peeved the iLife and iWork are shipping to Canadians by the 29th and Americans by the 22nd... Hopefully they get here early. With my luck probably the afternoon before a morning exam.

My second day using it and it still feels like it's going to come off. I hope it's just mine. I don't think the shuffle could survive an entire year, especially when I start using it while excercising. Does this have the option for AppleCare?

I will just have to wait till mine comes and check.
Does anyone else think the new Shuffle ad is awesome?
Apple make such good adverts and i hope they do spend a bit on advertising the Shuffle and not only in the US.
Creative are advertising the Zen on the music channels now which is perfect advertising, Apple needs to do that.

I bought an iPod shuffle for my wife, and now I want one too!

Well, I just loaded my wife's 'shuffle' up with Rolling Stones songs and Italian Lessons to test it out. It's awesome. I know I'm a newbie, but I've owned a bunch of different Macs and I have to say I think this is one of the best designed products Apple's ever come out with. From the button layout, to the LED that shines through the white plastic, even though it looks opaque (I love the little things), to the power/setting switch on the back that's flush with the rest of the iPod, to the integrated battery level indicator, to the USB connector on the bottom, to the great sound, this thing rocks! When the USB cap is on, it almost looks like a solid piece of white plastic with a little button pad on it. I've got it plugged into a USB hub (powered) at the moment, and it works great. I'm working on a book right now and have it backed up on this 'shuffle'. Of course, it's also on two other hard drives, uploaded on server space and on a cd too. I mean, I'm not that daring!

I know there are smaller players out there, but I think once you get down to a certain size, a really small but usable size, then anything beyond that is useless to me. It's like telling me you've just come out with the world's smallest PDA, complete with Wi-Fi and a web browser. But, if I can't read the screen without holding it 2 inches from my face, why bother.

I know I've raved, but I haven't been this excited abount a new "toy" in a long time. I have two iPods already, and bought this 512 MB one for my wife. I'll be getting the 1 GB for myself when it's available in the Orlando Apple Store. Pick one up for yourself. I think you'll love it!

Weird but very nice: I ordered a 512 Shuffle on the 15th of january, from the Dutch online Apple store as I live in the Netherlands. Estimated shipping time was 2-3 weeks. After my payment I received a confirmation that the shuffle would be sent te me on or before 11th february. But today I suddenly got an email saying that my shuffle is already being sent to me and will be there in 2-3 days! I would have thought it would take some more time to get my shuffle in comparison with the us... So maybe the estimated time on the apple website is only theoretical? I can't imagine it would take more time for a shuffle to ship within the US than all the way to the Netherlands? I'm thrilled because I just couldn't wait for 2-3 weeks... Maybe I'll be one of the first consumers in holland to own a shuffle ???

lol, yeah, those zen adverts are terrible! lets hope creatives $100m ad spend finishes soon! :D

I, too, hope that Apple advertises the shuffle here. The UK shuffle page doesnt show a TV ad which is a bit odd. C'mon Apple!!

Perhaps it will start when stock comes in..

Anyone who ordered a 1gb'r from the uk just after the keynote like me, please post when it ships. My order went through at 7:37pm on the 11th, I'm crossing my fingers it ships before the 25th, my Sony EX-71's have arrived today and I'm well impressed.

Cheers

I don't think they have changed the advertisements at the Regent street store so i think they won't start advertising till they have stock ready, there is a 4 week waiting list already and relatively very few have heard about it :p
Like the 20gb ipods and the minis, Apple will sell every Shuffle they make this year.

Don't know

TenBlue...Apple's Fed Ex number isn't recognized (yet) by Fed Ex, so I can't answer...not sure where it is being shipped from....China or Cupertino.

Will post when I find out.

According to Apple in Australia Shuffles are shipping directly from Singapore!

We are still waiting for shipments to arrive from Ingram Micro in North Calgary. Should arrive sometime next week.
