I'm sorry but the Ipod Shuffle is just not up to standard! I mean I love Apple and the Ipod, but........what was STEVE JOBS thinking?
That there are many folks who would like to listen to music in a random fashion provided by a small and lightweight device with minimal easy to use controls...

The ipod shuffle is lacking a screen
For some of us, this is fine. Even on my regular iPods, I usually just select a playlist and then let the iPod determine a shuffle/random play order for me. The iPod Shuffle is a subset of the regular iPods in that it can only handle one playlist.

I hate the usb attatchment(which only lets you charge by your computer, doesn't work with firewire(400mb a sec, while usb is only about 12mb a sec,and you have to pay $30 more just for a regular charger)
Uh, the iPod Shuffle can connect with USB 1.1 or 2.0. USB 2.0 can communicate at up to 480Mbps. This is plenty fast for 512MB or 1GB of storage.
FW is not needed in this case.
Also, by having the integrated USB connector, the iPod Shuffle can be used as a Thumb Drive with a PC or Mac which is great for those of us who work and live in a dual platform situation.

Maybe an Ipod Shuffle 2 with a screen, a cable that you link to it for firewire or usb and that can be used with a charger! Wow, that would be a good product for Apple!
You can get a short USB extension cable. Apple provides an optional charger (which does not require a cable by the way.).
Currently there is no USB to FW adapter, but for 512MB and 1GB, USB 2.0 is fast enough for most folks.
I guess you could say that the iPod Shuffle is a bad product for Apple. After all, stores and mail order outlets are sold out. The two models are backordered. Yes, these are signs that the iPod Shuffle is not selling well.
Hint. Just because the iPod Shuffle does not fit your particular lifestyle desires does not mean that others feel the same. Apple made the iPod Shuffle for those who were looking for a simple to use flash based player, that was small, lightweight, integrates with iTunes, works with the PC or Mac, and is easy to use. Looks to me like they have accomplished this and a whole lot more.
