iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

this has to be one of the most aggravating and frustrating "apple" experiences in a LONG time... of course it is all based on MY expectations...

Waiting the whole morning, clicking on "Update", but nothing happened.
A few minutes ago, iTunes finally showed me there's an update available and I clicked on "More Information" which was followed by the massage "Store temporaly unavailable". After that it showed me again 1.1.4 was the latest version.
After clicking a hundred times again it's now the same: 2.0 available but I can't connect to the store.
I'm in Germany.

i'm glad i was able to get this downloaded and installed before a million users started raping apples servers.
I'm also in North Jersey, and I have not been notified of an update. However, I have not been checking religiously either. I'm just waiting for the link on Apple's website to go live...
i'm in Boston, and i got it straight from iTunes without even being asked to pay for it about 50 minutes ago.
i don't know about you guys, but I just updated to 2.0 and I'm stuck with an iPhone that can only call for emergency with a usb picture pointing to an itunes icon.
This is extremely frustrating as I have a lot to do today and my phone is crucial for communication.
I am totally screwed if I lost everything on my iPhone.
I'm also getting the "Accessing iTunes Store...." message in iTunes and it's just trying to load i guess...

Downloading fine here now on the east coast.
Did a download only and will install later when I don't have to be on the phone!
Seems to be a 6-8 minute download for me. 218.2MB
BTW passed by the Apple store in Bethesda, MD 1/2 hour ago. Must be a line of 200+ people.

For sh*ts and giggles while I'm waiting for my iTunes to decide to let me update, I decided to see what happens when I click Restore. So, I did. And it restored me with an iPod that claims to have 1.1.4 in place, but is missing all the 1.1.4 apps. Their locations on the home screen are empty - as in there's a space for them, in the places I had positioned them, and all my web bookmarks are in place, but the 1.1.4 apps are not visible.
WTF?
