iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

I find it interesting that iTunes tells me everything is up to date...until I click the link for the new firmware on the front page. Then it tells me I can update, fails because it can't get to the iTMS, and then reverts to telling me everything is up to date.
 
v2.0 showed up in my iTunes and I got everything done but the activation. It sits for awhile 'Accessing the iTunes Store' then gives up. Sometimes I get an unknown error -9838

My phone is a vegetable until it 'does something' from this point … the iPhone page just says 'iPhone' in the middle of the screen.

my purchased songs from the phone etc are all 'missing' too …

My iPod Touch is restarting.. here goes nothing...

Hooking into iTunes...

Restoring from last backup....

Restored, and now restarting...

Circle.. Grey Apple.. Still Grey Apple.. Still more grey apple.

OH MY GOD IT WORKED IT WORKED IT WORKED!!

Frack.. now I feel bad.. I need to pay for this!!

Yes, because that's what's meant to happen. Make sure you create a backup before you install 2.0 because it erases everything before it installs.

everything working fine here. got my free upgrade right from iTunes though. seems like apple really fudged this release pretty bad.

i restored my iPod, so yes, all my stuff is lost, but that doesn't really matter a whole lot, thats the point of Syncing anyway.
 
This is stupid and unacceptable.

It's the worst update of anything Apple has ever released. It's so bad it is funny.
 
Oh boy, Steve must be furious with how things have gone over the last couple of days.

When did they say that? They only said that it would be released on the 11th, no time, no time-zone. That is was people have been speculating, but not what Apple said.
 
worked just fine, but im going to do the official way when its available, i don't want to end up with something messed up.

just so you know, i've been inside and out of my ipod touchs software and i've done every random ugrade and jailbreak there has even been, and i can assure you, its practically impossible to mess anything up.

Yeah I just thought of that too. I'm still at 15 minutes remaining. It only took 5 minutes the first time I downloaded it...it's been over 30 I think and there's no end in sight.

Screw it. I'm gonna go get some stuff done while I wait.
