I'm more than willing to pay for it! I had no idea that the download wouldn't ask to pay! I'm already restoring my iPod back to 1.1.4 because of it. Don't judge us all!
You know, I would've happily paid the $10....but they toyed with us for 3 hours having the link go up and down.
They got my $20 in in January and they'll get cuts from all the apps I downloaded. I really don't feel too bad about this one.
Open iTunes, hit Shift+ Update (button) go to download location and thats it!!!!
anybody can post that on a torrent or something!? It's taking forever to load from Apple's servers! 
i got mine for free right from iTunes which automatically updated mine. oh well. sorry that apple doesn't have their act together.
and how is it such a crime if your downloading the files straight from apples server, which was clearly visible to the public? its not like they hid it.
Yup, and it's his own damn fault. Trying to launch iTunes 7.7, the App Store, the iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and iPod Touch 2.0 software - oh yeah, and MobileMe - all on the same day?!?! Way to bite off WAY more than they could chew.
How is the backup restore thing working out for people?
I have 15GB of music on my ipod that I don't have on my Mac, or anywhere else for that matter, as I keep my library encoded in flac format, and only convert to mp3 to get it onto the Touch.
Before I do the upgrade I'd like to know that the upgrade will properly replace my media without an iTunes sync when it's finished wiping and installing.

Well I am syncing apps in to see how they run. Once the Firmware is officially available I will restore and get everything back the legal way.

okay so i did the update, but iTunes comes up with and unknown error -9838 and my phone is not working. I can only get the emergency call screen. How can i restore it?
Guys I upgraded via link submitted here, works just fine it is 2.0 valid one. Weird thing is I haven't been asked to pay 9.99$ which I really want to do in order to support apple and my apple friends. So i might restore and do it via iTunes once the 2.0 is available

Boy, I'm glad I updated it with the free link yesterday. I was not going to pay for it, I paid a lot of money for it already and it wasn't long ago that I bought my iPod touch.
