iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

dont use the word "you." i didn't do anything but plug my iPod in recovery mode and be notified of the 2.0 upgrade, of which i was never prompted to pay for. never downloaded a thing on my own. iTunes handed me 2.0.
I'm getting the message incoming message settings not correct cannot access imap.gmail or something of the sort
Hang on... The iPod Touch has some kind of internal speaker to notify you of new mail? Cool!

Well, by the nature of how bittorrent works, not many people have the whole thing to seed.
Once you get the whole thing downloaded just seed for a bit to help everyone out. I have a couple computers I have seeding the 5A345 build on different connections just to help out
Maybe it will speed up a little.
The torrent link is only between 1-6kbs/sec for me

It always had a little sort of speaker whihch makes noises for your alarm so I guess they are also now using that for mail which is so awesome.
lol, yeah the one it uses for alarms and stuff. Nothing cool, just generic robot beeps hehe well you know how it sounds.
By default it doesn't get mail until you go into the mail app. With the 2.0 firmware you can now, under settings, set push and pull parameters. You can have the mail app check your mail accounts at a given time interval. you can even adjust them individually.
Yeah, but NASDAQ as a whole is down 1.82%, Apple stock down 1.89%. It's falling because the overall bear market. No relation to this madness.
slap me across the face with a wet fish, but surely the reason why we having problems downloading update directly from itunes, is because of the sheer amount of people trying all at same time?
maybe the servers just cant cope with the huge demand?
Cant really be compared with reliabilty of OS Software updates, because I'm sure
- a lot less people own macs than compared to ipods/iphones.

Can someone explain to me how Apple's accounting model allows them to charge $10 and include what I paid $20 for in January?

Yeah, well, I could kvetch every single time the price of computers or memory or hard drives or software drops in half within a year of my purchasing such a commodity. I not only accept that these falling prices benefit me, but I try not to be so wrapped up in possessions that it makes me unhappy. As it is, I'm glad that a last minute plot complication kept me from getting up early to stand in line for hours for a device that I couldn't even use right away due to the server problems. I sit here inside my house, warm and dry, while it's cold and soggy outside, just waiting until I can update the firmware on my iPod Touch to run the applications I've been downloading from the App Store. Then I'll have something to play with until the iPhone 3G inventory and activation issues get sorted out. Now for another cup of tea...
Are you sure? I've got 1.1.4 (Obviously!) and I've set it to check at 15-minute intervals. I will often turn my Touch on and it will have new mail.
You really don't wan to piss me off more right now...
I have been up for nearly 48 hours without even so much as a 5 minute nap, waiting for Apple to come through on there promises whenever they damn well feel like it. I have every right to b!tch and Complain right now about this!
