Are you sure? I've got 1.1.4 (Obviously!) and I've set it to check at 15-minute intervals. I will often turn my Touch on and it will have new mail.

My bad, lol, I had mine not set to get it automatically (when I had 1.1.4) so I kinda got used to it working that way and thought it was a default behavior. I did have to manually turn this on in the 2.0 firmware though.

You really don't wan to piss me off more right now...

I have been up for nearly 48 hours without even so much as a 5 minute nap, waiting for Apple to come through on there promises whenever they damn well feel like it. I have every right to b!tch and Complain right now about this!

Don

Seriously dude, get a life, a job, a woman, anything to bring that blood pressure down...

So when the hell do you think everything will be fixed, and the 2.0 update will FINALLY be released for the iPod Touch? I'm hoping within the next couple of hours... though that's probably not going to happen...

The thing is, they haven't broken their promises (at least with the 2.0) they said they would have it out on the 11th, and they still have about 14 hours to do that, stop complaining.

Except it's well past the 11th in other parts of the world.

No, you don't. Here's why:

First of all, this is corporate America at it's finest. It makes sense that Apple would cater to iPhone users a wee bit more than iPod Touch users, because iPhone users generate more revenue for Apple. It's how businesses work. For the record I do not own an iPhone.

Second, Apple's customer service is superior to all others I've ever dealt with, and I'm sure Apple is doing everything they can to make the Touch 2.0 firmware available. Stuff happens, and as has been well documented, I'm sure Apple's servers are completely overloaded right now.

Finally, even with the Me.com issues, it's really not that major of an inconvenience. If it were down for say, a week, I could understand your frustration. But being without the service of Me.com for one day or even 2 is not that big a deal. Perhaps if you weren't so reliant on email services you would be more understanding.

Patience is a virtue, and you need to learn it.

Ok, I lied about going to get a Zune. But seriously these past few days of Apple releases have been major flops. The head editor of Cnet was just on Fox News saying that AT&T is blaming Apple for the iPhone activation servers crashing and Apple is blaming AT&, and that if it's anything like the Mobile Me launch people shouldn't even bother to go and get an iPhone for the next 24-48 hours. I mean come on. People are paying $200-$300 for a phone and can't even use it. All I'm saying is that Apple hasn't been realistic about its release plans, and then they don't even admit that they screwed up and it just pisses me off.

Don

I'm glad I didn't plan to have the upgrade today ( had too much work to do ) or I would be as pissed as you. :)

Just wait a little longer and you will be very happy. :)

I do find it kind of odd that the iTunes server(s) would be down for as long as people are mentioning. I would expect safeguards to be in place to have very little downtime...but I guess not. Although it's not like it's life-threatening if it goes down for a day or two - at least I hope not. :)

Are you saying that the iPhone 2.0 firmware does work on the iPod Touch? I thought it wasn't supposed to.

No bigboote ipod ipsw for ipod touch iphone ipsw for iphone. ipod touch won;t let you restore to the iphone firmware. BUT> you CAN put the ipod touch firmware on an iphone, it will **** it up but you can always restore back to the iphone firmware. Guy on this forum I believe did it earlier, just gota pay attention.

I'm quite surprised it still hasn't released yet.

I fail to see how apple are really at fault, the servers are overloaded, high demand.

Maybe there could have been better sequencing of events but apart from that if the servers crash theres little they can do.

I hate corporate society as much as the next guy but there are more important issues in the world than not getting an update for an ipod. If everyone chills it will be all ok in the morning.

I can understand if Apple's servers have crashed, but from what I've seen, it's almost like they don't even know they've crashed. Nothing has changed. Nothing's been said publicly. Apple needs to do something.

really? and just what are you going to do? wow stop acting like a child. if you're losing sleep over this im afraid your problem has little to do with apple.

The point was that he said he got the firmware for free. It's going to be free in any case on iPhones, so it would only appear to make sense w.r.t. iPod Touch _hardware_.

You seem to be having trouble typing. Fingers freezing up from standing in line for a week in the cold for your new toy? I've got nice warm tea, here, so my fingers are fully functional.

Got the .ipsw from apple's servers, and i updated my ipod touch and it's working great!

Super monkey ball is awesome :)

I am having the youtube issue as well, but all it's saying is i need to connect to itunes or something, and i assume that will fix itself when apple's servers come back to life.

I was never prompted with something saying I should pay. I fully intend to pay the $10 if I'm ever asked to...I just wanted the software and it seems the only means atm is to download it from apple's servers directly through a web link instead of through iTunes, so I did that.

lol, nope don't have an iphone 3G yet, waiting till a week or so to avoid the bugs/new users and other launch issues.

My 2.0 firmware finally finished downloading. I can't update my iPod though. I tried the Option+Update thing. All of the files are faded out so I can't click on anyone them to update with. Am I missing something?
