iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

Alright Kevbryant. I realised as i hit post reply that i should have looked on google which incidentally i did. The other thing is i am not using windows but cheers for the help anyways. I thought this is what we had a community like this for to help people out. I know I have helped people on here instead of telling them that they should have looked on google.

This is a response from an user of Apple Discussions (Ben Pryor) about the release of the official 2.0 firmware.
"Basically, I said, "Do you know when the update will be out?"
He explained to me that, because everyone is trying to download it and activate all their iPhones it is not available. I asked when. He then went on to say, "Most likely the update will be available tonight or tomorrow morning."
So let´s be patient and STOP hitting the update button!
Easy way to put your iPod in DFU Mode
1. Shutdown your iPod
2. Press the Home Button and leave your finger in the button.
3. Connec it to the computer through the cable
4. When the iPod appears in the Devices category, release your finger and restore.

Activated iPod Touch
I either got lucky or the activation servers are back up, I plugged my iPod touch in after upgrading to 2.0 manually, and now Youtube is working after it connected to iTunes Servers successfully.

I applaud your help its just there are some new people on here that might not realise to look on google so they may find it a bit off if someone at the end of theire little bit of advice makes them feel stupid for not going on to google and finding out themselves
Rezipping won't work! When Safari downloads a zip file it extracts the contents and saves it as a folder. It then deletes the zip file....look in the Trash....the zip file should be there!
has anyone successfully downgraded their ipod im getting the same old error 1600 in itunes when trying to do it in dfu mode as well.

This is mostly true, although the jailbreak community isn't all laughing at you, some of them feel bad for you, and want you to join them because it's better - kind of like how Mac users sometimes see Windows folk.

YES. This has usually been their policy (I believe it was for the $20 January update). I wouldn't bug them directly about it today (for obvious reasons) but keep at it.
---In other news, I just got a message from the iTunes store that my request to download 2.0 timed out, rather than that the iTunes store wasn't working, which I last got a few minutes ago. Progress?
