Hello Dylan, welcome, we are hopeful, but tbh i'm not expecting it in the UK today. Only 3 hours left!

sorry to hear that, I called Apple Support (which took an hour), the lady said that the servers are over jammed, and everyone needs to stay of itunes for a few ours to cool down.
Once cooled, the update can be sent out (finally), and hopefully we'll have it by 5 PM EST.
best of luck.

still nothing

Upon a restore earlier today I lost my January update (just disappeared) and now I can't even get 2.0. This is a bit ridiculous. I paid $20 in January which apparently doesn't matter now since I have to pay for the update as well but since I paid for it I should still have the Jan upgrade. errrr.

Apparently, Apple took down the January Update from iTunes earlier this week in preparation for 2.0. So, what you're experiencing with that is normal. The 2.0 update will include everything from the January Update.

guys

guys i know how to fix youtube problem on 345 i will try it in 347 .. lols then ill post a video how to do it :D

Syncing did seem a bit slower, but I'm having trouble getting some of the apps to sync. After I finished syncing it said there were 3 errors syncing and it was from some of the apps that I had downloaded.

hmmmm

Okay, after 4 hours of my January software update disappearing... it is back.
I unplugged and replugged my ipod a few times and restarted itunes but that is the weirdest thing. It was gone for HOURS then just reappeared and is syncing.

THIS IS ANYTHING BUT NORMAL!! They payed for the january software update and it is a cheap play by apple to make these people lose what they payed for. For all apple knows, they might not want to pay an extra $10 to get the new update. They are just assuming that these people will want to buy the new update and automatically erasing all the things they had already bought. This is the biggest let down from apple of today in my opinion.

The Youtube problem is not caused by anything wrong in the firmware, the activation servers are down, or were down and your iPod touch has not been activated with that firmware. I was having the same problem. Wen you plugin your iPod you'll notice iTunes trying to connect to the iTunes Store, it was never working it would just skip that, but when I plugged it in one time, it successfully connected and youtube is now working.

Woah, calm down. I never said they took the January Update away permanently. I'm assuming they'll put it back up for those who don't want to upgrade to 2.0 once all this server business is sorted out.

For some reason whenever I go into the app store and click on an application it says its been downloaded 0 times, is it saying the same thing for anyone else? Not sure if it's because their servers are being hammered or not.

edit: All of my apps are now syncing too, maybe I won't have to restore when it actual goes live.

The software was saved on the computer you originally used to purchase/sync it. So, if you restore, the apps and software should get included automatically. I wonder if you've been plugging it into different computers or it finally connected to itunes to tell it that you should have it installed.

iPod Touch screen freeze after 2.0

Like a lot us on this board I installed the "unofficial" 2.0 firmware for my touch. The issue I'm seeing now is that ever since I updgraded my screen has been consistently freezing and not responding to any touches. At first I thought I had it isolated to only when the wi-fi was on but now it's doing it with no wi-fi. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Apple made the right move by disabling the January update. For people thinking that they were downloading the newest software they would be sorely disappointed and out $20. This would probably be a large problem. Plus, when 2.0 comes out, it will have everything 1.4 had, and more, for half the price.

It may have been a bit much to take it off automatically, but that may be some confusion with all of the people downloading 2.0 early.

BTW, my ipod, which doesn't have the January update, keeps on asking me if I want to upgrade to 1.4, so it's still around.

LOL!
They've not removed it from users iPods, just from the iTunes Store, as in availability to purchase. I've still got my January Software Update running on my iPod, I once lost it but just restore and plug in a couple of times and it's back.

They've not taken it off the iPods, just down from the store. So people that haven't purchased it, can't now.

I'm pretty sure 1.1.4 is not the same thing as the January Update. The January Update is just an add-on to 1.1.4.

Also, here's exactly what happened with the January Update: Apple pulled it off iTunes on June 9, when 2.0 was announced, presumably for the reasons you stated above. However, after that, people who had bought it previously and subsequently restored their iPods would still have the Update. This changed yesterday (or the day before) when people who restored their iPods could not get the Update back. I presume that Apple took the Update completely off their system as part of the preparation for 2.0.

Edit: Some people are saying today that they can get the Update back after a restore, which was the case before late this week.
