iPod Touch 2.0 Firmware Update (Almost) Live

There's some movement now. I've got iTunes recognising that there's new software out there, it' letting me click "Learn More" then going to a blank page before back to my iPod devices panel.

Hey, no "iTunes is not available" crap at least.

I'd quite like a download now before the west coast finished work...

I think we've become so used to having something on the day Mr Jobs says we'll have it that anything like this is just asking for trouble.

Wait... there is an unofficial iPod touch release?

I just finished restoring mine, and it says that 1.1.4 is the current release. No sign of 2.0 for me.
 
If the servers are down because everyone is trying to download the firmware at the same time, we should hold off for now. Hopefully it relieves the overload and we might get the firmware faster.

Well it's 11:15 PM, if Apple can squeeze out the 2.0 update for the iPod Touch users by 11:59PM today, I'll be surprised...

But if they won't... the entire MeMobile, iPhone and iPod Touch Update's been a disaster....
 
It's acknowledging 2.0 now, but "Learn More" takes me to a page that simply reads "iPod."

Edit: Ugh. I got to "Contacting iPod Update Server" then I got stuck.

It might be 11:15 where you are, but from Apple's perspective, it is only 3:18 right now where they are based.
 
i cant wait any longer
quite literally
my internet gets throttled in half an hour to 64kbps
so if this doesnt work, ive got to wait until 4am tomorrow morning

Are we talking about the universal Internet time or California?

But you're right... however New Zealand's had their release yesterday so I'm wondering what's up with today?

Wait was it New Zealand or was it Australia?
 
Now I can't access the update server at all, I don't even get the box asking if I want to learn more, maybe this is a good thing?
 
Australian 2.0

Well, it's now 8:30am, July 12th in Australia and I'm still seeing the blank 'iPod' page. Let's hope the update will be here by 9AM (4PM, July 11th pacific time)

Or maybe they blocked me from hitting the update button anymore until it has been put up, I am sitting in my car in the driveway waiting for everybody else to get ready to go, in about 30 minutes I will be without internet for an entire week. So I know it might be a source of the problem, but if I don't get it now, I will be a week behind.

Now when I push the Update button it tells me that the iPod Update server cannot be contacted.........Must be down to the Rain and Storms as was said to A.N Other forum member at an Apple Store earlier today.........:rolleyes:
 
iPhone 2.0 for iPod touch

I'm now getting the 'iPod touch 1.1.4 is the current version' box again. Looks like I've taken a step back.
