I just clicked update (and it is still telling me 2.0 is the newest version) and it says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted." This could be a good sign! It might mean that they are updating the server with the update. I would be soooooo happy!!!! :D

Edit: It is back to 1.1.4 as current. Still no server response... :(

Edit #2: Back to 2.0 as newest. No more "Server can't be reached" It has the click for info button that just takes you to a screen with "iPod" in the middle and then a second later it switches back to overview. **sigh** Just give us the update Apple!! Please! :D

Cynical thought... :)

Anyone else wondered if Micro$oft are engaged in a Denial of Service attack on Apple today? They do have an awful lot of computing power sitting there at their disposal... probably sitting idle waiting for the legion of Vista users to download SP1 <g>.

And it would be a great way to start their fight back campaign :)

Anyone been the MS site to see if it's up and running and what their service is like today?

Maybe Steve could ask Bill to host the Apple downloads today... just a thought.

LOL LOL LOL My thoughts exactly..............just couldn't put it into words:p

Software Server

Back to the Software Server message now.

And back to 'current is 1.1.4' message again.

I got Learn More again, but it still leads back to the iPod page.

EDIT: Now it tells me 1.1.4 is the most up-to-date version.

EDITx2: I get 2.0 again with the dead link of "Learn More"

GREAT.......

FROM WHAT iThink......

the iTunes server has EXPLODED.... (ie: the one with the fireball and everything...)

Somebody should print out ALL the 35+ pages of "it says 1.1.4 and a moment ago it was 2.0!!" to Steve Jobs...

Just to make him have flash backs from when he was young and software just didn't quite work the way they were supposed to.

;)

Sorry but I have to ask...

Just how did you manage to get a screen grab of your iPod Touch? I've been wondering about that.

Care to share your magic?

;)

It is a 2.0 feature, hold down the menu and power buttons for 3 seconds I think

It´s a long story....

First I download the torrent for the .ispw file of 2.0.
Upgrade my iPod, perfect, applications and music perfectly synched.
Want to downgrade to 1.1.4 from iTunes 7.7 and the iPod in DFU mode.
Error (20) while restoring the iPod.
Stuck on DFU mode, tryed Normal mode of ZiPhone and nothing.

Right now I´m able to update again to 2.0 but no downgrading. That´s my problem. What I really want is:

1. Downgrade to 1.1.4
2. Buy the 2.0 Upate whenever its available on the iTunes store.

Now: How I can downgrade to 1.1.4 without faving that error? Downloading iTunes 7.5?

I have checked and there is a new boot loader, it will not load 1.1.4, so no going back.

The final version will be encrypted and needs keys to activate it (YouTube, for example). Go to the iTunes Store when it is up, and buy the firmware to get the keys.

I have upgraded one iPod Touch fine from the iTMS, 30 seconds later when I went to purchase the firmware for my second Touch, the store went down. I must have caught it just at the right time. All activated. :)

With Software Upgrade?

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I only got my iPod touch less than a fortnight ago...
In my iPod details in iTunes, it says: Software version 1.1.4 (With Software Upgrade)
Does that mean I get the 2.0 software for free..?

(Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes.. Haha. I will be mighty peeved with Apple if I dont :/)

Well, I´ll just wait to the official release, download and install! Do you agree with me? :D

Sorry to be the breaker of bad news but no. Everyone who upgraded their iPod touches in January (including me) have the same software. We all have to pay $9.99 USD.

Lies!

I'd also like to take this time to note that the version of iTunes for 64-bit Vista systems, is a nightmare. All of the recent Windows releases have been bad, this is unbelievable.

Edit: So close! It said it was connecting to the iTunes store then cut out. (on the blank iPod page)

Bummer. Grrz. Well that sucks?
If I take it to the store and tell them it's only a few days old d'you think they'll frown at me (in that condescending way they do) and tell me to go home and stop complaining?
