My explanation for that hole above the screen...A NEW LOCATION OF THE AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR!!!!!! I've been waiting for this day so long:)

Looks good. I was starting to wonder if it would only have the rear-facing camera based on the Hardmac report yesterday. What was Jobs's quote at WWDC? Tens of millions of FaceTime devices?

Good news for people waiting for the new touch. Now if they would only drop the price for the entry-level model...

I hope it has specs comparable to the iPhone 4, so I can buy one for development while still locked to my 3GS 2-year payment...

In order to achieve the quota set by Steve himself when he said there would be 10s of millions of FaceTime devices in consumers hands in 2010, the new iPod touch would need to have a front facing camera.

Apple could also easily achieve this by integrating iChat with FaceTime. This would make every single Mac computer with an iSight a FaceTime device.

My explanation for that hole above the screen...A NEW LOCATION OF THE AMBIENT LIGHT CENSOR!!!!!! I've been waiting for this day so long:)

Hopefully, you meant "sensor" not "censor" but this is Apple so maybe they have a way to censor us using light...damn them!

Real deal...

This appears to be the real deal.

@IphoneRevivers; It was you who did a live coverage of the iPhone 4 [when it because available] disassembly, no?

wonder how long it would take for them to start selling this considering they can hardly get enough supplies to build the iphone 4

No that was not me . I know what you are talking about though , I believe they are located in CALI and only offer repair . We started out selling parts & repair to repair people wholesale only now we are moving into selling to the end user .

@iphonerevivers

I know I've already asked this generally but do you have any idea if this contains the retina display?

I think it's the availability of retina displays that are the limiting factor for the iPhone 4.

Either the new iPod touch will not have a retina display or Apple has reserved a certain number of retina displays for the new iPod touch.

Unless there is a credible rumor beforehand we won't know until early September.

Ah I see. And I found the name/link again: http://www.brokemyiphone.com/ [couldn't recall it].

What's your website? Feel free to PM me.

Edit: Got it. iphonerevivers.com Right?

Not sure yet . It is something we are working on trying to figure out . If we find out first , ill be sure to post .

Why not use iChat (aim or mobile me) accounts?

Pretty good to have Facetime on iPod touch.

I really, really want a back facing HD video capable camera. I'd pay a nice premium for the same camera in the iPhone 4 just in an iPod touch.

I'd also like the design to reflect the iPhone 4. Square off that back panel!

Like I've been saying for a while... Either it will get both cameras or none, and it will obviously be both. Flipping the camera around is part of the FaceTime experience, so it will get both cameras, end of story!

I was really really really hoping for that. Then Facetime could work across Macs, iPods, iPads and iPhones...

First i would like to say hello to everybody.

Well that looks ok, but there is no way it would be that thin. Just the 5 megapixel camera module itself is almost twice as thick as you made the entire device! So, I don't see that design happening, sorry.

I sure hope it comes out before late September, so I can get it as a replacement for my 2G.

FYI, it's not double. The current iPod Touch is 0.33 inches in thickness, as compared to the iPhone's 0.37 inches in thickness. 0.35 would allow for a camera.
