OK,

Good News: The Apple Store on Buchanan Street in Glasgow definitely has a large stock of both the 8GB and 16GB models.

Bad News: My 16GB model is definitely affected by the negative screen issue, my unit is part number MA627ZO/A

I went down to the Regent Street Apple Store, got there about half 4, and they were sold out of 16GB. No chance whatsoever of getting to play with one though. I was loitering around for half an hour and some a**holes that were playing with them when I arrived were still playing with them when I left.

That's coz most Glaswegians are way too scummy to even afford one let alone know what one is.

/is allowed to slag Glaswegians off, because I am one, originally. :p

I picked up 2 16gb's from Sheffield Meadowhall this morning - screens fine on both.

Now have 7 iPods but obviously no life!

So far nothing but thumbs up for iTouch!!!!!

I've been using my 16Gb that I bought at the Trafford Centre last night, all day and I haven't noticed any problem with the screen at all. I'd go as far as to say this thing is perfect. Very pleased with my purchase.

For those wondering the Trafford Centre Apple Store had loads in stock in a cupboard at about 9pm yesterday so I doubt they've sold them all yet!

really
i'm like 10 mins away form TC
but already ordered from apple store.
tempted to ask my mum to go there and get on for me.

How do you know that that model is affected?
my order is that number

Because that's the number on the box of my iPod.
The above poster is right though, I'd imagine it's just to do with differences in the wireless laws in different countries. For example, in some countries you're only allowed to use channels 1-11 for wifi, but in others it's 1-14.

Just emailed Apple Euro PR asking if they could comment on the issue, whether they plan on fixing it and what they recommend owners of affected units do with their iPods, will report back when I get a reply.

Any ideas of stock levels in Meadowhall?

Pity I can't walk in with my online order and get them to match that price (£20 off £235 promotion) :(

Bluewater had loads yesterday and was willing to hold them. If you have the means to get out there I'd suggest calling to reserve, then cancelling the online order. I don't know what their problem is with preorders, but clearly they're delayed!

Almost forgot - if you take a printed copy of your order showing the discount you had, they'll apply it in store. How easily may vary depending on the manager on duty, but stand you ground and tell them you know they've done it for other customers.

Good luck all!

New Ipod Touch!

Decided the iPhone was too far away and Orange wanted £200 to terminate my contact, so an iPhone touch was justified!

Headed off to the Apple Store at the Trafford Centre, Manchester as I'd eventually managed to get through to them and they had 'plenty of stock'

Got my device home and it's very nice indeed. Still playing but if anyone has specific questions let me know and I'll try and answer them.

I live in Stoke and with the rush hour traffic, took over an hour to get there. Not sure how many they had, but he quickly pulled out two for me and my friend. There's no advertising in store yet, but the staff are walking round with them I think round their necks.

I'm so impressed with this, it is unbelievable. And it plays music as well. Wow! :D

Man, I know how the Americans feel when they complained about pre ordering and then seeing people get them in store before you lol Don't see why they aren't giving them to people online if people are saying the screens are good

I really think this has nothing to do with the screens.

I think the online apple store are gonna just wait untill the 28th... That's what well I've been told twice on the phone!

It's rediculous

I ordered mine on 6th Sep and the estimated delivery date has slipped from 1/2 Oct to 4/5 Oct.

I'm pretty disappointed that it looks like I won't be getting mine for another 2 weeks when I pre-ordered. I live 100+ miles from the nearest store so don't really want to travel to get one so looks like I'll have to try and be patient!
