Argos has limited stock of both 8 and 16gb models of the touch in limited stock. GET THEM NOWI have got mine and it will be shipped "for sure" Monday or even tommorow. I am quoting this from Argos' main warehouse!

Managed to pop into the Apple Store when I was in Glasgow today and they were sold out
I did get to play with one - it's lovely
I'll just have to wait for my online order then - although if it hasn't shipped by Saturday and they get some in stock (the guy in the store thought they would get some more tomorrow) I'll head over to Glasgow on Saturday morning.

Still no change on my UK pre-order, still not yet shipped, ordered it as soon as the store came back online after announcement.

Went into Apple store, west quay today and the display models had bad screens/firmware/whatever. I asked them and they were happy to swap my touch over but they had no way of knowing weather i'd get a working one.
They said as soon as Apple makes it official they will be happy to repair it.

Took my 16GB iPod touch complete with its 'negative black' screen back to the Birmingham (UK) Apple Store this evening.
They were aware of the issue (he had seen one earlier in the day) and they gave me a full refund with no questions asked (didn't even want to check the screen). They were even very apologetic..... I can only give them 10/10 for customer service!
Oh well, that's the end of my 48hr iPod touch experience.... I will miss it(well, everything but video playback).
I have decided to fork out for an iPhone. Roll on November 9th!!

Just called both the Manchester Arndale and Trafford Centre stores.
Manchester Arndale had the iPod Touch in stock today, but they've already sold out, and are waiting for another delivery of the iPod Touch which should be arriving midweek next week.
Trafford Centre said that they had also sold out already, but they have a delivery coming tomorrow. Whether the delivery contains iPod Touches cannot be confirmed until tomorrow morning.

i called TC earlier they said that they have NONE in stock. and they even said without me asking arndale have NONE in stock too. they said they are getting delivery on monday to me
So i phoned 2 hrs later and a different guy said they only have 8 gigs in but not 16gig (TC only)
and they are telling u a different story???????

I was in there today, unfortunately it was really busy so I had to resort to drooling at it behind a glass cabinet. Did you notice any problems with the screen?

Also, some early iPod Touch units have had defective screens, where images appeared too dark. Apple says this problem affected a small number of units and is being remedied. My two test units displayed beautiful images.
Despite these downsides, the Touch is a great media player, and the iPod remains the best end-to-end portable solution for playing and purchasing music and video.

Please let us know if it arrives. Argos are clueless - I rang late yesterday and they said 'yes, they're in stock' but after digging deeper they then said 'no, you will get a call when they are available - probably beginning of October'.
I hope that it does arrive for you but don't hold out - I am still fuming over my Wii preorder that I had with them.
Apple Store Kingston have had them and sold out - due to get them by the end of next week.
