Please let us know if it arrives. Argos are clueless - I rang late yesterday and they said 'yes, they're in stock' but after digging deeper they then said 'no, you will get a call when they are available - probably beginning of October'.

I hope that it does arrive for you but don't hold out - I am still fuming over my Wii preorder that I had with them.

Did a bit more investigation and its not coming tomorrow after all, even though they happily took extra money for Saturday delivery! Good job I phoned to confirm, otherwise I'd have been sat in all day waiting for nothing. The customer service guy was unsympathetic and slightly patronising so I canceled the order. I'll just wait and pop into an Apple store when a decent amount come through into the sales channel.

Took my 16GB iPod touch complete with its 'negative black' screen back to the Birmingham (UK) Apple Store this evening.

They were aware of the issue (he had seen one earlier in the day) and they gave me a full refund with no questions asked (didn't even want to check the screen). They were even very apologetic..... I can only give them 10/10 for customer service!

Oh well, that's the end of my 48hr iPod touch experience.... I will miss it :((well, everything but video playback).

I have decided to fork out for an iPhone :D. Roll on November 9th!!

the guys at the bullring store are the best when it comes to customer service, and if they go ummm .. you can always ask for the manager and she is sweeeet ...

they even look at you with surprised expression when you return the mighty mouse and go " why didn;t you get your student discount on that? you could have saved a lot you know!!!"

I live in Cambridge also. It is a shame that Cancom don't have them in stock. I was hoping maybe another electrical store would have them.

Was hoping all these places would have them in stock today (Argos, Cancom, Comet, etc). Sucks. :(

Ah well, I guess they are definately coming next week so not TOO much longer to wait...

All this time and energy put into patience and reading around these forums makes me hope that this iPod touch is worth it all...I hope its not going to be one of those things where you buy it then your not actually too bothered about it a couple of days later.

Just placed an order with Comet, delivery on Tuesday morning :)

I've kept my apple order aswell incase Comet don't have them or it's a week 36/37 model

Apple Store Glasgow has either sold out or has sent their week 37 Touches back as they had none in today when I tried to exchange mine. They did give me a full refund though :D

They're still saying they expect to get them on the 28th but they got that one wrong before and a lot of other shops have got week 38 units in already, so I may go in again at the weekend to check out what the situation is again.

Belive me, its not. In no way at all is it a let down.Yes, you have to get used to the touchscreen, and using an ipod without a scrollweel, but now I just would hate to go back to a regular ipod.I just keep looking at it and find excuses to use it over my macbook. It is well worth the money!

ok scrap my last post about the screen being fine! Tried watching Cowboy Bebop last and the dark scenes had no detail at all, had to tilt the screen away from me to see any detail and not a dark green smudgy mess :(

Mine is a week 37 ipod, i guess part of the faulty batch.

I'm going to take it back to the bullring store tomorrow, does anyone know if they have week 38 ipods in stock?

What is apple's policy regarding returns? I'd rather not exchange it at the moment as I fear i would just get another with the same problem. But surely the screen is covered in the 1 year warranty? So I could, say go back in 3-4 weeks and exchange it for a working one then?

What have other people decided to do? I don't want to get a refund as i'll have no ipod then, apart from my shuffle, but don't want to risk not being able to get a fully working one.

Online or retail stores?

Both, the person over the counter said that they were shipping from the main warehouse. I would get them quick, they are certainly going to fly when word at all Argos' become official.

Mine is coming this Monday (24th.)

So yeah all UK guys wanting one, Argos retail is the place to go!

Oh and here is the Argos link, has to ship from the main warehouse, you can't buy from the retail:

No. It's like that here in Sweden as well
I called them and they say that the storage in Holland was empty so we'll have to wait for a shipment from China.
Nice. Fresh, delicious, screen problem-free, iPods for the masses

My delivery date has also slipped to Oct 3-4 now.
It was Oct 1-2 until yesterday. But the shipping date is still Sep 28.:confused::confused:

Did anyone of you whose delivery dates slipped enquire with Apple why that happened?

Well I placed my Argos order on Thursday PM and I received a letter from them today saying they are receiving their stock from Sept 28th onwards and I will be contacted before then to arrange a delivery slot between then and Oct 12th

Yup, they can't say why. I was told it's because while usually the delivery takes 3-5 days in some cases it can take up to 7.

I cancelled my Argos order, thinking that they might get old stock... I would rather wait for my direct-from-Apple one.

I got a snooty email, saying they would cancel, but it clearly states in their website it is a pre-order item. I beg to differ, when I ordered it said 2 days delivery, with a big Green In Stock Tick and let me choose a delivery day, so it was far from clear.

Screenshot taken today to show the confusion, but DON'T GO ORDERING, THIS IS NOT IN STOCK;

Well just above where you click the buy button it says
Pre-order your iPod Touch now with FREE DELIVERY. Our customer services team will contact you to arrange a delivery date as soon as the first stocks become available.
So although when you click buy it says instock, it does state on the main page that it is a pre-order.
