iPod touch iPod Touch - Prepared For Shipment

Hiya - Yeah, it's definitely a strange one.

Basically for online purchases, I do 'em from a basic, bog-standard Natwest current account. If I purchase something online, or use my card anywhere "offline", the transaction usually pops up on my online banking immediately (some stores like ASDA can take an extra day, occasionally), under the guise of:

Usually, within a day or two of paying for something, I can go into my online banking, pull up a "Full Statement", and get a more detailed breakdown, like the following:

The Apple £249 POS came up immediately, and was still listed on my account, around 8PM last night. It was listed, and my account was £249 lighter.

Logged in this morning and it had gone, and I was "up" £249. And yet, over on the Apple store, the purchase order number they gave me still works, though the status hasn't changed.

Edit -> As for the Dudley bit - Aye, just outside it - Netherton, to be specific.
 
All that dropping off is standard procedure. Apple puts in a preliminary claim on the money and your bank will hold it as a temporary transaction for a set number of days (length differs, depending on bank). If Apple claims it, it's done. But if Apple doesn't claim it in the specified period, the transaction drops off. But the reference number is sort of stored with the bank much longer and Apple can just reapply that transaction, using the original transaction number, with no fuss.

Ahh - Never realised that. Probably because I've never pre-ordered anything ('cept some stuff when I was younger, and I paid for those on a Credit Card). Good to know - and hopefully it'll be going back out again sooner rather than later ('cause that way I know it's on the way)
 
I just checked my UPS status and got news :


ANCHORAGE, AK, US 07/09/2010 13:18 ARRIVAL SCAN

At first it was scheduled between the 13 and 16 september on apple website but on the 10th of september when i got the first UPS notification.

Now the UPS tracking dont have anymore delivery date, but im confident :)

Any news on your side ?

Don't feel bad. Ordered on the 1st, within two minutes of the online store opening and not only has mine not shipped, Apple had the nerve to charge me twice for overnight shipping.
 
Mine hasn't shipped it still says delivery 13th - 16th I was hoping to get it before the weekend but I don't see it happening the last 2 things I ordered the camera kit for iPad and magic trackpad both came faster the camera kit came about 2 weeks faster the trackpad I got 2 days faster than it said the iPod doesn't even say prepared for shipment yet so I don't think it will be Friday for me

idk. lol. just hoping XD would be more irritating if Apple store gets it first over here. lol. but most likely they will get it first. come on fedex, hawaii is just down below. sadly they dont do that. im guessing they will stop by California first.
 
i ordered on the 1st at 4:30... i just today got the "prepared for shipment" thing so im hoping it might get here by friday :( i really want to use it this weekend..
 
I just cancelled my order. Called apple and they said they would have them in stores tomorrow. Preordering was such a waste.
 
Does anyone know or have experience with returning an unopened ipod bought online from apple to a physical apple store? I have a trip Thursday, and if my local store gets it in tomorrow I may want to just return the one i preordered, but I only want to do that if I can return it in person so I don't have to pay for the shipping charge back.
 
I am calling the Aple store tomorrow. My bet is they will have it in stock. The freaking Online chat employees gave me so much BS. Why make the people who preorder wait an extra week?

Where is online apple chat? I cannot find it for the life of me.
 
Still nothing here in the UK - I think I'm going to leave it until this time tomorrow (7:30am Thursday) and if there's no indication that it's moved further along the process, then I'll cancel, and just wait for it to arrive at either Best Buy or the physical Apple Stores.

same with my status. It's a shame but I don't mind too much since I'm buying it as a gift ;)
 
nothing new here in vienna either....still "not yet shipped". it really sucks that apple is an american company and doesn't really care about the rest of the world (but getting their money, of course).
don't see the difference between shipping to US or any other country. i don't even care now if they are shipping the ipod from amsterdam or china, since apple uses TNT from amsterdam and they take about as long to get from there to vienna as UPS does to get here from china.

there is not even an apple store in vienna, just some premium resellers who always get the new stuff last (talked to them yesterday and they will get them "somewhen in september"). so looks like i'm ****ed....
 
Shipping...

Ordered mine on the 1st, and just received my email that its been shipped from Kunshan, China. Delivery is scheduled for the 14th.
 
I wish Apple would hurry up and send me an email. Currently says not shipped with estimated delivery between the 9th (that being tomorrow) and the 14th. Apple Chat employee told me earlier that Apple's delivery times are very accurate and reliable I said how that can that be so, between the 9th, which is tomorrow, and it's not even shipped yet?

Waste of time speaking to people on that chat, they serve no purpose.
