Err, it's obvious that iPod Touch is going to be refreshed, just like Apple have been doing with the iPod lineup for years.

1 big hing that I want for the Touch is a built-in microphone, and/or proper support for bluetooth headsets. It would be the perfect Skype phone.

Other than that, I expect Apple would bring the Touch to the same CPU+GPU as the iPhone 3GS so developers can optimize their apps more for the new GPU knowing that there will be a lot more userbase. Adding the same camera as the 3GS with video recording would be even more awesome. GPS + Geotagging would be great too. Heck, damn it Apple, just sell the freakin iPhone unlocked.

I'll be getting the next ipod touch. As long as they upgrade the processor.

I'm also really hoping for the camera and gps to make it in. I would get a great deal of use out of those.

IMO itrs really unlikely that GPS will be on.
iPhone uses AGPS---ipod doesnt have constant connection and drains battery very fast

Mic-Yes please

Camera- I would love to see the 3GS cam but we will probably end up with a 3g cam in it. Oh well I will still use it.

Compass- Yes, I can't wait to see what kind of games can be used with it.

GPS- No, it will make it too thick. I would rather a 3G router that connects into the dock connector so I can have both constant data and gps

and make it smaller it has too much bezel action! Or make the screen fit the entire thing!

As for the Tablet I think that will be released after the iPod event. Why would they rush to update and rebrand the lineup if they are going to wait until 2010?

64gb 64gb 64gb 64gb 64gb for the love of god 64gb.

If they do not bump the capacity to 64gb I'm giving up on apple.

Is 64gb possible? From what I understood before the 3gs, the maximum chips were 16gb and the ipod had two positions for chips (making a 32gb possible) while the iphone had only one (the remainder of the space needed for phone-specific internals), allowing only for 16gb. Did the 3G S free up space for two chips or is apple using higher density chips now (paving the way for a 64gb touch)?

NOW can we get a thin 240GB Classic? Yeah I know I know but some of us have HUGE libraries

I would imagine that with the introduction of a 128GB touch (maybe Sept. 2010) the iPod classic would be discontinued. But Maybe even this year with the intro of the 64GB touch version.

Faster

New iPod touch will have camera, microphone, same processor but clocked faster. Remember the iPhone 3 GS is underclocked to save power. The touch without GSM radio will use less power, so can be clocked faster.

I agree- its unfortunate, but the classic's a gonner- there's no reason for them to maintain the classic software platform and a hard drive based ipod. In my opinion, they have always been too fragile to be truly considered "portable". It was my experience that they had a 1-2 drop lifespan.

I agree that some people need the space, but I'm not sure if enough do to justify apple maintaining the product.

As apple tends to like use similar objects to probably keep price down...

Ooooh a 3mp camera, soo pimp.

If apple was smart, they'd up the camera up a lot to make the touch stand out. Still if it were to get a huge raise, then I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in the next iPhone.

I personally think they're going to introduce two models

1. iPod Touch 64 gb with mic, compass, faster cpu and graphics
2. iPod Touch HD (250 gb hard drive) with mic, compass, faster cpu and graphics replacing the old classic ipod with hard drive.

Sorry, but no camera yet.
:)

Could be right there were reports early this year of them ordering 5mp lenses as well as 3mp ones.

I think 3G service from AT&T is a no brainer... Apple and AT&T are supposedly working on offering other devices the 3G service. We all assumed that to be the iTablet device, but the iPod Touch is perfect for it. This of all of the people that want an iPhone but are really happy with their phone service or don't want AT&T for phone as doesn't work greatest for dropped calls in their area. These people would love to have all of the features, and they could in an iPod Touch 3G device. Also, the maps, GPS, and compass apps could work great too, but they need the data service (perfect additional reason for people to pay for 3G). This would most definitely be an optional thing but AT&T could make some bank selling $30 3G service to all iPod Touch buyers too. And possibly $100 off for subsidy???

Apple would most definitely charge more for such a device too! That may be the only reason it wouldn't happen in this economy??? But seems like a no brainer to me!

I hear ya. My ideal iPod collection would be a Classic for storing almost everything, an Touch for PDA like functions and a Shuffle for adventures. I just hope they don't drop the Classic yet and I really hope they up its capacity... At least bring back 160gb.

You are essentially correct. However, 64Gb chips were shown at the CES show early this year. With them the iTouch could hold 128Gb, but that would be obscene.

sounds good, even for iPhone customers. The more iPod Touches sold, the more we will benefit from it, because due to a bigger market we will enjoy even more professional apps from even more developers ;) .

AppStore becomes more and more important :)

iPod Touch with camera please!

I am still waiting for an iPod Touch with a camera so I can take good quality videos and images.
