The thing is, if this is your position then the current war shouldn't appeal to you because it's not going to prevent a nuclear Iran. Unless you actually are willing to do the hard work of going in with lots and lots of boots on the ground to properly unseat the Iranian regime you aren't going to succeed in defanging them. They are going to continue to pursue a nuclear weapon especially in light of this new war. If you really believe this you should be calling for a full-scale invasion to capture and secure all nuclear material and put in place a government that will never pursue a weapon. Otherwise this war only kicks the can down the road a bit.

I mean I guess you could bomb Iran every few years to keep kicking the can down the road but that is likely to just make them angrier and more determined.
And not to forget that you won’t know the outcome even if you do manage to topple the government. Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan all spring to mind, they all turned into **** shows with terrible long term outcomes.

It's so sad to see the US, in a matter of a little over one year, completely trash its reputation. You were once respected by most of the 190-odd other countries of the world, now you are not only despised but not a single word uttered by your government can be trusted. It's seems that the word "negotiation" has been turned into bullying, whether it's supplying the arms that killed 20,000+ children in Gaza, bombing schools in Iran or simply talking about trade agreements with long term friends.

What's wrong with you guys? Why do you hate the rest of the world?

Yeah you are going with the argument of “its her fault for wearing revealing clothing” I see. That’s a horrendous take. That is an ultra right take. I think anyone reasonable without trying to make some weird narrative stick.. would come to the conclusion that the people attacking the ships are responsible. They are attacking innocents. That is direct unfiltered extreme terrorism. No matter how far you reach and what way you try to twist things to make them fit… the people attacking the boats are the ones causing the prices to go up. That is a fact. No one is forcing their hand to do that. Russia and Iran are in a war. India and Pakistan have had their back and forth. Do you see those states attacking third party boats that are just hauling goods? No? Yeah it is because it is inexcusable and if they did that it would be no one’s fault but their own. There is no reason to do this other than terrorism. No military goal is gained. No one is forcing anyone’s hand. Iran is the sole party responsible for attacking the vessels, period.
Seriously? The US attacks Iran and you don't expect Iran to use all the leverage it has? Of course this is terrorism and despicable on the part of Iran but this is also expected of Iran. Iran has been sponsoring terrorism for decades but apparently the world leaders thought (before Trump) that the terrorism was small scale enough to not be worth the fallout from a full-scale war. The US should have known and planned for this, if they didn't then this is a result of the US choosing to wage war on Iran.

You mean these guys?

I think you meant Pro-Piece ticket. As in a piece of those billions for us during the war.

.
They aren't stopping them from getting a nuclear weapon. Unless they actually put boots on the ground and go in and force proper regime change the IRGC is just going to dig deeper underground for their next steps in enrichment... all this war is going to do is make them more determined.

One of the things I didn’t fully grasp before the war started, was the terrain. Iran is a giant ring of mountains. It’s almost like a cartoon version of the most defensible country imaginable.

All their missile production capacity is buried deep underneath mountains. You can’t bomb them, and landing ground troops into a mountain range is a nightmare.

I honestly have no clue how you’re supposed to attack something like that.

This the biggest problem. We crossed a rubicon. We now HAVE to go into and remove the regime, because they will go for nuclear weapons now. Why wouldn’t they?

They created a self-fulfilling prophecy with this nuclear weapons ****. They’ve said it for 40 years. But after now, if the Islamic State survives, it may become true.

I believe we can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube. We will, unfortunately against my wishes, have to go all out.

The deeper can of worms is this…Why on Earth wouldn’t you get nukes? They don’t deal with North Korea, which not only has nukes, but threaten others. But go after Iran (cowardice masquerading as bravery). What does that teach everyone else on what they need to do to survive? We all know the answer to this question.

As Tywin, played by the great Charles Dance said before GoT went to ****, “Madness. Madness and stupidity.”

Theocratic frauds. Bearded robe wearing nonces who steal all the money, slaughter their own populations, and buy up billions of dollars property, politicians and journalists in the West who are always happy to take the oil money and blood money. The children of that regime live billionaire lifestyles in Barcelona, London, Toronto and Monaco.

Remember guys, the more religious someone appears the more they have something to hide.
The Lump doesn't have a beard!

That Russian war is still going yet President Trump got the gas prices down prior to this Iran war. But you won't explain that one.
Gas prices have been falling ever since that June 2022 peak when it averaged $5.032. Average gas price hit $3.139 at the end of 2024.

Have they gone lower since then? Yes. But what did Trump do specifically that lowered prices? From what I understand, it was mainly because OPEC+ decided to pump more oil than the market needed to take back lost marketshare all throughout 2025.

OPEC+ agrees further oil output boost from October to regain market share

September 7, 2025

OPEC+ has agreed to further raise oil production from October as its leader Saudi Arabia pushes to regain market share, while slowing the pace of increases compared with previous months due to an anticipated weakening of global demand.

OPEC+ has been increasing production since April after years of cuts to support the oil market, but the Sunday decision to further boost output came as a surprise amid a likely looming oil glut in the northern hemisphere winter months.

The Sunday deal also means OPEC+ has begun to unwind a second tranche of cuts of about 1.65 million bpd by eight members more than a year ahead of schedule. The group has already fully unwound the first tranche of 2.5 million bpd since April, equivalent to about 2.4 percent of global demand.

How’s this actually supposed to play out though? If anything, giving companies like Apple a heads up is the worst possible move if you’re trying to land a real hit. These companies already operate at a ridiculous level when it comes to cybersecurity constant monitoring, internal red teams, external audits, bug bounty programs, you name it.

Now you’re basically telling them to go into full lockdown mode ahead of time. Could there be attempts? Sure. But a meaningful breach of a company like Apple isn’t some quick flip the switch hack. Feels more like signaling than something that realistically changes the outcome.

Im no expert in any of this, but what i do know is you dont have negotiations and then bomb the country while at the negotiations table. This like Iraq was totally manufactured and unnecessary and a giant distraction from other issues. Also, according to Netanyahu, Iran was days away from having the bomb for over 40 years now and yet despite our own intelligence saying they dont, we went in anyway because trump is a impulsive child in a 80 year old body, has never had to face any real meaningful consequences in his life that cutting a check couldn't have gotten him out of, and now hes acting like a spoiled toddler throwing a temper tantrum that the rest of NATO wont join in his fight and give him what he wants (Iran's oil) and now Iran is rightfully pissed, has the upper hand with the oil, and isn't going to back down.

Now look, that does not in any way shape or form mean i support Iran. Im just stating facts here. They cant hurt us directly with man or fire power, so they are naturally going to block off the oil, and go after all American companies like apple and various others.

Heres the reality of the situation though. This war is already super unpopular with the American public and we are just starting to pay at the pump. Come summer i wouldn't be shocked if gas is 5 dollars OR MORE a gallon and once Trump gets boots on the ground and we start seeing god forbid large numbers of American casualties, this already unpopular war is going to turn on trump big time and their is no clean way out of the mess he created needlessly and if he does what he says hes going to do and bomb their power and water sources that effect civilian infrastructure, THATS A WAR CRIME (Not that it would stop him) and he would be fueling (Pun not intended) the motivation for a new generation of Iranian sponsored terrorism with more reasons to hurt us.

I cant blame Europe or Nato for wanting to sit this out one bit. This is going to be another Iraq/Vietnam and its the last thing we need right now and you watch, once this goes south, you watch companies like apple start to pull back support from Trump.

Tim Cook did what he had to do to keep Tarriff prices from effecting Apple and yes it made him unpopular among apple fans, but whats the bigger crime from his point of view, stand up to trump and tarrifs make all apple products even more expesive to the point no one can afford anything? Or kiss the ring and bow the knee a bit and keep prices somewhat reasonable and affordable for their consumers?

But with this war, ill bet you apple pulls back the first chance they get cause apple is not in the buisness of warfare and spying. They go out of their way to secure their users data, and i highly doubt they are spying on Iran for the US. We got other agencies to do that allready.

Why on earth wouldn’t you get nukes? They don’t deal with North Korea which not only has nukes but threaten others.

I would think any sensible state would pursue nuclear deterrence after seeing what happened to a denuclearized Ukraine.

The People’s Republic of Korea and South Korea have enjoyed relative peace and stability by comparison. India/Pakistan as well.

In a might-makes-right world, nuclear deterrence makes for good neighbors.

Iran needs nukes to deter attacks like the one the U.S. is doing right now.

Look up what the U.S. did to Iran in 1953 with the Mosaddegh coup.

I view Iran as the good guys in this fight, and Israel and the U.S. as greatly out of line.

Iran was not a threat.
You must have great intel to know that. r/politics on Reddit doesn't count as intel fyi.
Cool story. Reality says otherwise.

Top US security official quits, says Iran did not pose immediate threat

March 17, 2026

A top security official in U.S. President Donald Trump's administration resigned over the war in Iran on Tuesday, saying the country had posed no imminent threat ‌to the United States.

Joe Kent, who headed the National Counterterrorism Center
, is the first senior official in Trump's administration to resign over the conflict, now in its third week.

"I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby," Kent wrote in a letter posted to social media.

Gas prices up from $2.80 to $4.20 in under a month and now this.

Thanks Donny for finally Making America Great.
I’m not taking political sides here, but just for a little context diesel was at about $5.81 per gallon back in June 2022, which is still the all-time high. So if we’re going to throw stones about gas prices, probably shouldn’t be doing it from a glass house. Energy prices swing a lot based on global events, not just who’s in office.

I'm not sure why people are giving me articles from sources like the new republic and the daily beast to show me "Iran was never a threat". When I referred to intel, I meant military intelligence. Stuff the media, you and I don't know about. Safe to assume they would know better where the threats are.
