I prefer the straight, chamfered edges on the 5 series, but other than that I'm looking forward to the iphone 6.

Absolutely nothing wrong with my 5S, but I like to get the best iphone as soon as it comes out. Some people might think Its expensive but it's a couple hundred bucks every year (net after I sell my old phone). Some people spend that easily on a weekend out partying

I've had each one with the exception of the 5 so I never have a phone long enough for it to get old or for me to get bored with it. I never really get "excited" about the next phone (with the exception of the 5S since I skipped the 5) but I always plan to get the next one as soon as I can.

I got my 2-year contract cycle timed out perfectly to stay on the "S" cycle. I got a 5S in October of last year so I'll be set to upgrade to the 6S soon after launch. I believe the "S" phones are better anyway as the new design gets the better hardware.

I got burned buying an iPhone 4 a few months before the 4S came out and regretted it, I should have waited as the 4S turned out to be a much better phone. I'm fine waiting until any flaws from the newer design get ironed out (see: antennagate) and the hardware gets a significant boost in the S line. Phones like the 5S are getting powerful enough that there's no need to upgrade every year in my opinion.

Screen Size is big deal for me

I don't need the size that rivals the Samsung Note series, but something around 4.7-5 inch screen is really why I use my Android more than my iPhone these days. Looking forward to more competition in that space, though the iOS 8 features are also really appealing too.

Yes really excited about iPhone 6 because bigger screen is really mean to me, and also excited about ios 8.

Really? I thought the iphone 4 had better hardware than the 3GS, and the iPhone 5 has better hardware than the 4S, and if the trend stays on course the 6 will have better hardware than the 5S.

Just so you know, every new version of the iPhone has better hardware than the last release.

Since I have to wait until February for my Verizon upgrade, I may just wait a bit longer for the "s" model. That is if my 5 holds up that long. I've never had the "s" model.

Im on the opposite cycle. Not because of any rational thought as if the new design is better than the last design, but because that is how my subsidy rolls. You know, people have to give themselves a reason not to spend the money so they come up with whatever excuse...

You misunderstand. I meant the "current" design gets the better hardware in the "S" cycle. In other words, the 5S looks the same as the 5 but performs considerably better. My point is if you like the look of the 6 when it comes out, perhaps it's better to wait for the 6S because the look will be the same but the internals will be better. That's only my opinion though, I know many will update every year regardless.

So you prefer to have an "outdated" looking phone with better hardware, is that what you mean?

No worries, I skill have my 4S and love it, but it's getting a little slow.

Still haven't decided if me and my wife will make the leap. We just got our 5S iPhones back in February. So we would more than likely have to pay off our next plan and then upgrade. If I deem the phone worth it then I will do so, but otherwise I'll either wait till the prices on Craigslist drop or just wait for the S series.

The 128GB (or 64GB for the smaller one, if they go that route) versions of both models will be the ONLY ones that have sapphire screens.

Excitement? Just for THAT there will be an insane response...

Sure, you could get the crappier NON-sapphire version of either, but just like people freaking the crap out over the "gold" 5S (which had nothing but a cosmetic difference) sapphire actually adds some function too.

(and before the "it hasn't been announced" crowd chimes in, I realize that, but remember this post in 2 months... the "sapphire only being on the top storage versions" spoiler came from a VERY reliable source).

No one cares if you're not excited about the 6. Least of whom being Apple. There will be MORE than enough people to keep the phone on backorder for months (don't believe me? look at the 4... then look at the 5... it happens with non-S models easily).

Not excited? GFY (good for you). Enjoy the Samesung :p

I actually get more excited about new releases of iOS than a newer iPhone. I'm excited to see what else we may see with iOS8 and what next year will bring with iOS9 :D

May I ask who your incredibly reliable source is?

I'm looking forward to seeing what the 6 has to offer. Longer battery life and water resistance are 2 features that I'd like to see.

I'm also excited about iOS 8.

I'm not particularly excited, I'd keep using my 4s if the last couple of iOS updates hadn't slowed it down. Aside from the slowness and crap battery life (even after putting in a new one) it meets my needs very well. My contract was up with verizon in May and I've been debating having it unlocked to switch to a cheaper plan. I'm waiting to see what the 6 looks like but if it's as big as the rumors say I'll probably just try to pick up an unlocked 5s cheap when everyone else is upgrading to the 6.

Not excited in the sense that I'm not looking to buy, since I don't need/want to update my phone every year. And I suspect that the anticipation with a lot of people will depend on where they are on their contract or self-imposed upgrade cycle. I know that last year. I was eagerly anticipating the 5s, but primarily because I was in the market at that time. The improvements were enough to steer me away from the 5c and non-iOS options I was looking at.

Then again, there will probably be more interest than usual because the larger screen size will draw more interest in the new iPhones from current Android users.

Went to the store today and inadvertently got to check out the new Samsung phone that was on display that piqued my curiosity. Biggest things I noticed:

1- Display is higher resolution than current retina iphone display.
2- Phone has a sensor to measure your pulse (healthbook?)
3- Has an application that is like Pandora, based off of mood (reminds me of acquisition of beats by dre?)
4- Multiple applications open simultaneously - the demo app is pretty nice with the guy explaining how you can watch a video and surf the web at the same time
5- High resolution camera that takes awesome pictures

After walking out of the store, it made me wonder... what is the iPhone 6 going to have that is really "groundbreaking" outside of what it is for Apple? Sure the bigger display, better Pandora-like feature, and healthbook may be something, but hasn't Samsung already gotten those? We've seen "leaks" of attempts at getting multiple applications open simultaneously, that hasn't made it out of code thats hidden, but is there really something to look forward to?

I believe its not a "its just a marketing problem". If all we see with the iphone 6 is just "heres a bigger screen", it would be disappointing. Sure some people might say "who cares", but as a consumer looking to get a high quality product, which I know what Apple delivers, but if Samsung is upping their quality and functionality with extra innovation, it does seem at this point in time "The Next Biggest Thing is Here".

My excitement has decreased, but I am still hopeful that Apple will do something in the next months that will wow us all giving me some good reasons to pick one up.

I think you'll find apples implementation will be better than samsungs, going by past experiences. Bigger screen, iOS 8 should be pretty good. And apple has a way of making iPhones highly desired. Every iPhone has outsold the previous.

Even the 4S today is a capable phone for most needs. iPhones are usable for three-four years (provided the battery doesn't deteriorate too much and the screen is OK) due to the quality of iOS.

I dont know about any of the health, but the radio feature is very slick. The "tips" like application Apple annoinced today to show specific features of the phone is something surprisingly the Samsung had and it had a video of an on screen narrator that tells you aboit a feature and lets you interact with the open application, and the narrator talks more about it. This is thanks to the simultanous multiple open apps feature which Apple doea not yet have.

Well, considering the news today that a 5.5-inch IS coming after all, I can't see how you CAN'T be excited about iPhone 6.

Bit weird actually! It's the iPhone 6 for goodness sake!

Some people aren't excited because they don't want their phone to be the size of a phablet. Some people think that people who hold phones that are that big up to their ears to talk to someone just look weird.

There are many reasons to not be excited.
