Is anyone not excited about the 6?

If these dummy iPhones are a representation of the real deal, then I'm not excited.

I don't like the way they've done the antenna breaks and I especially don't like the front with it's huge bezels. All it looks like is that they've taken the current iPhone and made it larger.

The dummy iPhones are virtually the same size as the one m8 and xperia z2 but with a smaller screen and no front facing stereo speakers.:(

Based on past behaviour…

I'm concerned it will be another 8MP camera. Seriously? (Another reason I'm looking at a Nokia with 20MP, thanks very much.)

My main concern is that the 6 WON'T have a much larger screen. The most reliable rumours have been about pixels and not screen size, at this stage.

It's 4.3" minimum for me or I'm going to Nokia Windows for a while, because Apple just doesn't seem to be getting the message about how far behind they are on screen size.

The other problem might be iOS 8 compatibility. iOS 7 was constantly rebooting on the 64 bit 5S, and it's safe to say, the hardware was known well ahead of time last year. IF the 2 sizes rumours are true, the hardware will be up in the air until the last moment—and that looks like another iOS7/5S incompatibility situation in the making.

Apple quality has taken a dive in the last year or two. Too many devices and services now, with not enough people to maintain the quality. Everything is even more rushed than when Jobs was there.

Where services should be improving by now, they're just getting worse. Podcasts got even worse again this week. My iTunes is hanging, crashing, and popping a dialogue every hour (there it goes again) about logging-in to a podcast in my library that finished up in 2009 and wasn't protected when it was active! And last week a podcast appeared on my iPhone called Not Found and not the slightest clue where to look to fix that.

So, not much confidence in Apple software in general at the moment…

Why? There are quite a few that don't want a bigger screen. Some are happy with the 3.5 inch display. Do you have an Apple store nearby? I would go there for issues you're having. Bless Steve Jobs as he did great with the IPhone's success but if he were still alive and running Apple he was never in favor of a bigger screen size.

I am not looking forward to a bigger device. Phones are getting too big to keep in pockets... I don't wanna hold a tablet up to my ear just to talk to someone.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 5S instead.

Unless you were on a 3 or 4 year contract in Canada or other countries, or you can't afford a new phone every year...? I am on a 4 year contract, which is why I'm only upgrading from my iPhone 4 this year.

4 year contract? WTH? I would never sign up for this, especially with anything technology related.

I'm going to guess Fido, it's the only company I can think of that allowed contract stacking. All other contracts were three years until this past December, now everything is two years.

Yes, I'm with Fido. On Rogers, they were tearing up the previous contract where we were two years in so I would have been done last year. On Fido they added the remaining one year on top of the 3 year contract. All they did was allow you to get the phone early, but made us honor the previous 1 year contract plus the new three year contract.

Apple needs to stop making phones so thin and start using the internal space gained by filling it with more battery. Thin phones may impress the engineers out there but it's already getting to the point where they are uncomfortable to hold without a case and with screens getting larger the battery life must start taking priority.

I can ready hear the keynote now: "We made a bigger phone, managed to make it 15% thinner, and still maintained the same XX hour battery life as before".

Take that 15% you gained and make the battery 15% bigger and you would have gained considerable battery life. Sadly that's not how Apple looks at it. It's all about thin phones and bragging rights.

Different mockups?

I noticed quite a difference in the mockups floating around the web and youtube. Notice the difference in the size of the bezels.

You have this version:

Quite a difference. You should check the youtube link, it looks nice.
Add a shiny/chamfered edge and perhaps some refinements in the antenna lines on the back, and we have the iphone 6.

I will buy one, for sure...

Can't wait to upgrade the 4S, really hoping they launch both sizes together - it's going to be a tough choice..

I'm pretty pumped, so much that I will probably buy one outright rather than wait for my upgrade option in December. I want the 4.7 because it won't be much bigger, but will have more screen real estate. I'm not pumped about the rounded sides. I like the flat side design of the 4. But overall, I'm excited.

My 4S is still doing fine. As long as the iPhone is still going to be an iPhone 4.0 with AGAIN a bigger screen and even more thin, the 6 is a no go for me. It's time for change, and I hope Apple thinks the same. Let's hope the combination with the iWatch leads us to new surprising iPhone ideas.

MY wife will be getting one, but as I mentioned I'll wait and see what it has to offer. iOS8 has some nice improvements and some features I'm not sure I'll use so its all up to what the phone has now, for me.

Honestly, what more can you want? Change for the sake of change is never a good idea.

The design has been refined and honed over four years to make it the best it can be. Would a completely different design actually bring any tangible benefit?

Anyway, based on the rumours, the 6 is pretty different to the 4. All metal, curved sides, larger screen... In fact it's in no way similar to the 4 at all - even the home button is different!

Edit: Whoops, didn't see the date (some spammer posted before me). If these rumours didn't exist in early June (I can't quite remember!), I apologise :p

iPhone 6

What's the point of every year a new phone. I generally as a habit never buy the newest and the greatest. I wait till there's a need to change my phone not cause it new and I have to have it. For me it function. I just upgraded to the iPhone 5s and for my need it a great phone all though I had to take it back cause it had issues in the first three months the off and on thing, until then I had the 4s and it worked great. I past on the new iPhone 6 until maybe two or three years down the line after all the issues have been resolved, remember iPhone 4 lots of issues when it day viewed. Even though the platform has basically been the same since the first one, all devices are based on the same thing. Improvements over the years in speed and processors has improved it, I will not be one of the groupies waiting outside the apple store at 3am in order to be the first one to have it,

I'm really excited about the 6. Although I own an iPad mini retina, a laptop and a PC, I use my 5s more than the other 3 combined. To me, a 4.7 inch screen is beautiful news. I can't wait!!!

Yes, Me. I only care aboot iPad. I'll get an android phone. iPhone bores me to tears. It's really great with what it's supposed to be and do but it's not for me.

Huh? The iPad runs the same o/s and aside from the larger screen, it does less than the iPhone...

I had a Samsung S5 and it broke, very fragile but a very good phone. Anyhow after getting the Apple 5s I like a smaller screen and less weight. I have the phone in a lifeproof Nuud case and it slips into my pocket like nothing else.

Not everyone wants a giant screen, I will probably go back go a larger screen again someday but for now I like the smaller screen.

The phones need better battery life.

The 6 will come and go and we will all move on. See too many iPhone introductions to get really excited. Same questions asked and answered in the last introduction.

It is getting hard for any phone maker to WOW the world.

Agreed. The wow factor may be missing, but the incremental improvements are most welcome.
