What made you expect more? Did you find that certain features didn't work "as advertised"? Not trying to be snarky, just curious as to what you thought you'd get vs. what you actually received.

The scanner, the slow mo, the faster phone. The better camera. Don't get me wrong all these features delivery but reading online and watching the presentation they seemed amazing. And now owning the phone is just bla to me.

The iPhone 5 is very capable, I guess for some people it's a lot of money to pay for a spec bump. Comes down to personal preference, for some it worth it, others will have buyers remorse and return it. I'm undecided , though mine does not arrive till October.

No ghost line bud.

Anyways, I want to return it I guess because I expected more. There isn't pretty much more I can do that I cannot do on the 5. Only thing I'm enjoying is the scanner. But why would I pay 600+ for a scanner you know.

from iphone 4 there is no real reason to buy another one unless something is not working as it should be. Lets face it for only a phone you can do that with iphone 4 as well. So why you should upgrade from 4 to 4s from 4s to 5 and so on. But some of us appreciate and for me personal that security plus is a must and i think the leap from 5 to 5s is bigger than 4s to 5. Just in my case.

Exactly. I don't need the money back or anything but I have to be sort of realistic to myself here and that's where it becomes "personal" as you say. I feel like I'm throwing money away because is just a small spec bump. Is not something that I'm saying omg this is awesome like I did when my iPhone 5 arrived last year. There I felt my 600+ was worth it.

The iphone 5s is the future...is apple's motto like Mercedes S classe : the little toys that all others will have in the next years

The 64 bit CPU- galaxy s5 will have for sure(Samsung way)
Security Touch ID- (samsung s5 again will have i guess, not sure for others since they get rid off from physical button)
True tone flash - again others will improve their cameras with this new feature

So again 3 main and big features that will be in future on other devices

Which carrier are you with, and how much does your ghost line cost? I have a family plan on AT&T with three lines. One of the people on my plan might no longer need the phone, so I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. I just renewed that line's contract yesterday.

AT&T. The ghost line is only $9.99.

You may as well just burn your money. Why in the hell would you not buy unlocked phones and go contract free. Lower monthly cost on cell phone plan with unlocked phone, no subsidy. Higher resale value on unlocked iphone. And, oh yeah, not throwing away money on a second line, which is even more expensive because you are on subsidized.

Nope. I only pay $9.99 a month, which is $120 for the year. I then upgrade for $199. That's only $319 to upgrade every year including the price of my phone. Unlocked devices are twice that and there's no reason I'll be disconnecting my phone in the foreseeable future so I couldn't care less about the contract. This is a much better deal for me.

So your saying basically, your an impulse buyer excited by the hype, and now you have buyers remorse.

Did I get that right ? :D

To be fair, we all get seduced by the hype and shininess !

Fair play to the OP - that is the deal with Apple, if you don't like (for whatever reason then you can return it).

Of course. When I first read those reviews I almost pissed myself.

I'm such a sheep

The S models aren't usually that great if you own the previous gen. The 64 bit chip will be awesome once developers actually have apps in 64bit which could be months from now.

I'm not even sure why people with the iPhone 5 rush upgrade anyway? This is the 7th iPhone and history has taught us the step up is only really worth it if you're at least 2 generations behind.

What carrier lowers your bill for using an off contract unlocked phone?

Only reason I can see to take it back as it you feel it isn't worth using the upgrade on and you'd rather have it for the 6.

Me personally....I jumped on board the AT&T Next train. So I'm good for next year too.

you still have to pay to return it. There is a restocking fee + right now there are people going crazy paying insane prices for one. You can make way more money selling the 1-2 day old iphone then you would returning it.

I am surprised how many people are proclaiming that this wouldn't make sense. Aside from the scanner and a nominal performance increase (screw the spec sheets, compare REAL WORLD USAGE people), this is the same phone as the 5 (well, maybe colors REALLY matter to you as they do to my wife LOL).

We had the upgrades, so I got it. Sold my 5 for $600 (64gb) with a little over a year of Apple Care left, so it was a no brainer for me. But I can see how dropping full retail on the thing AND having the 5 as well would feel like a waste. Because it is.

Nope read the guys receipt image on page 1. It says no restocking fee.

Besides, why risk getting scammed by some shady buyer ?

I thought Apple got rid of their restocking fee?

Thats what I thought, though how are you gonna get scammed? Meet at an Apple/AT&T store. Take only cash. Bring your $3 cash checker pen that you got at Staples. Done. :)

at&t fee is $35 bucks... that's what my bill says

I returned my 16GB for a 64GB...had to pay the Verizon store a $35 restocking fee.

I upgraded since I use the camera so much, so I figured I should get the extra memory as well.

I am inclined to agree, maybe just a little attention seeking.

I deleted my Facebook 3 years ago, Twitter a few months ago, I just have Instagram and 64 contacts on my phone and I am 20 years old. I am the last person you can blame that seeks attention.

My reason for this post was to see how others were feeling about the minor update and change their mind about the 5S like I did.

Edit: Can anyone confirm if there is a return fee from Apple or not? Much appreciated.

First Apple product I have ever returned.

It really is such a minor update that it doesn't make sense upgrading from the 5 unless you have extra money or need one of the new features, but that's highly unlikely. It really amounts to a few new cool features but that's about it. You might as well put iOS 7 on your 5 and enjoy that experience for awhile and keep that extra money in your pocket. I'll guarantee you'll feel better about that. As soon as you return the 5s you'll know you made the right decision. Trust me.

Edit to your edit. It would show on the receipt if there is one. It's easy to return. Just hand your phone and receipt to the first apple employee you see when you walk in the store and they'll do it on the spot.
