Is anyone returning their 5S?

Not returning mine, but I have owned every iPhone since the first model, and I must say...

Going from 3G to 3GS was night and day...

Going from 4 to 4S was a HUGE bump in speed.

Maybe it's because the 5 is already really fast, but day to day usage is about the same. In terms of speed, at least at this juncture, it's not revolutionary.

Now that being said, TouchID is really cool. I mean.. SO cool. I put it on 3 of my fingers, and I keep testing it, and it keeps working. Then I keep trying other fingers, and it keeps NOT working - they are on to something HUGE here, and it makes the upgrade worth it.

If you're on a 5 and you don't care about TouchID, skip. Otherwise, great phone!

I may not even get the 5S after all, ain't ready to pony up $900 for 64GB model not worth the upgrade like someone mentioned on here already, for the scanner and a slightly better camera not worth the big bucks.

I personally think it's awesome. More to it than just a scanner and better camera.

I don't have a ghost line, but I do have 4 lines.

I don't understand why anyone would pay full price for an iPhone, at least in the US, when they can get it subsidized.

Look, I am going to pay the same amount for my AT&T phone bill, weather I get a new phone or not, contract or not. So I might as well get a new phone, if I have an upgrade available to me. I mean since I have 4 lines on our family plan, and I get the best price I can for the phone....

Think of it this way. I can sell my 64GB 4S White, for about $300. I buy a 64GB 5S for $399. To me, this seems like $99 a year to have a new phone every year, and my bill is the same one way or another.

I keep two iPhones on my plan, wife and I. I unlock our oldest phone and sell it. The money mostly pays for the newest phone, and $99 is my birthday present. (thanks, honey). Each year everyone gets something better, (except the in-laws).

BTW: I wouldn't get to do this, unless I sell the 4S, and had multiple lines. I got the look, as I explained my logic. But I think it's a solid plan.

No ghost line bud.

Anyways, I want to return it I guess because I expected more. There isn't pretty much more I can do that I cannot do on the 5. Only thing I'm enjoying is the scanner. But why would I pay 600+ for a scanner you know.

well no **** don't pay full price for a phone, especially for a "tick" rather than a "tock"

$900 for:

64bit dual core CPU + 2x faster GPU
Slghtly larger battery
15% larger CCD backlit sensor w/2.2fs(?)
Fingerprint Scanner
New colors
Improved LTE support and throughput

I would tend to agree. However $99,$199, or $399, might be worth it.

$900, I could buy almost a a $999 MacBook Pro (2013).
$900, I could buy a kick ass PC laptop with touch screen.

As it is, I haven't bought a new computer since I started buying the iPhone, when it first came out. (not iPad) My computer budget has gone only to the iPhone.

Me too. Haven't upgraded my computer in a few years since I had my iphone which is my I always buy the iPhone on release day. It's my computer. It's my thing.

The OP has a case of buyers remorse which can happen if you don't think it through beforehand and may be spending funds you know you should be keeping for other things. That's why it's important to think it through before splashing the cash on something you later realise you don't need...that's when you start getting nagging thoughts about all that money you spent when you know deep down that the microwave is on the way out, or your car is due a service lol.

Still it's refreshing to see at least a slightly negative post on here. The launch of the 5S has been really positive and the trolls who usually bang on about Android specs have all but been silenced by it being 64-bit. The forum has been an unusually nice place to be the last few days with lots of happy 5S and 5C owners.

Very happy with my New Iphone 5S I have upgraded every year was going to skip this years release but we ended up at the mall around noon and there was a line but it was moving quickly so I decided to line up. 1.5 hours later and a call to Rogers to get the early upgrade fee reduced I walked out with a Space Gray 5s 16gb and could nit be happier with the phone.

Only reason I can see to take it back as it you feel it isn't worth using the upgrade on and you'd rather have it for the 6.

Me personally....I jumped on board the AT&T Next train. So I'm good for next year too.

Same here... oh, and GO DAWGS!

Camera f2.2 means F-Stop, its a measure of how much light gets to the sensor. Lower the number means more light, more light means better pictures.

I havent' upgraded my computer in a while and don't see ever needing too unless it fails. Not into gaming, it can photo and video edit just fine, so whats the point? Use my iphone now to check email, so don't even use laptop for that.

I might returning the space gray to exchange it to gold/silver.

Are you going to return it then order online or pop into a store every day to see if they have the color? I still have my 5 and I kinda want the gold now. It's not as pronounced as I originally thought it would be. But I'm not sure what the best way to get it is.

How you can say with a straight face that you expected more when Apple had an event laying out EVERYTHING in the new phone? The iPhone 5S was a known quantity at that point, and if you expected to get anything more than that from that point on, then that it you, willfully ignoring reality.

I do have another 5S for Developing testing, this one was just for personal use and that's what I posted about here y'know can't really have the Developer talk in these forums. I am serious about it, I am 20 and make a living of developing in mid-town Manhattan. How do you like The Verge iPhone app? ;)

I am excited by the new ARM 64-bit and played with it a few times. But again this post was more about my personal use.

Are you saying you work for The Verge?

It's easy to see why. Apple hypes it up to be a much bigger step than it is in every day use. Sure the processor is a hefty upgrade, but you won't notice that at all yet. The touch ID is interesting but he said it isn't worth it to him. If you listened to the keynote, you'd believe that 64 bit architecture is going to make the phone experience different when you pick it up. :p

Basically, Apple creates this lure and appeal... but when in hand, the 5S feels exactly the same as the 5. After 24 hours, you could just as easily forget you paid hundreds for what feels like the same thing as the 5. I suspect OP felt this way, but noticed the hundreds of dollars less in his account.

It's like buying a faster car, just to obey the same speed limits. The limits have to be raised to make use of the faster speed.

Understandable. And this IS a "forward thinking phone" so in order to really enjoy this phone – especially coming from an iPhone 5 – you have to be appreciative of the new specs. Essentially, the new specs is an investment for the future and what's to come now that iOS is 64-bit.

So again, totally understandable. I think the magic for this phone hasn't really shown itself yet.

I was using my iPad mini this morning for about two hours. The more I used it the more I got annoyed at putting the pass code each time. Also at random moments I would leave the finger there (like if it was the sensor) I guess because I've been using my 5s for two days straight.

I think I might keep the 5S now seeing how annoyed I got at the iPad for not having touch id. Apple wins like always.

I can see your point. Also, some apps will need to be recoded to take advantage of the speed and the new instruction set. I think smartphones have reached the point where they are "fast enough" for most things people do with them. I think tablets have a way to go, and I'm sure they'll drag phone apps with them, and gamers never have enough power, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of 5 buyers wait for the 6, which might have a larger screen, and will certainly have Touch ID and camera improvements.

And now they'll sell you an iPad 5 or Mini 2. Touch ID is addictive. :D

I can understand why someone might want to go back to their 5, but why not sell it instead of return it? You could make a healthy profit.

Because I use aio, which is AT&T for 1/2 the price.

Quick question guys. How should I price this unlocked 16GB iPhone 5 on Craigslist?

The phone is in perfect condition.

Looks like I'm keeping my 5s.

How do you go about switching colors or GB size? I'm going to exchange my white 16 gb for a 32 gb for a gold or silver. Do I just call or go into the store every morning to see the stock?
