If you feel the need to purposely misspell it I can't see any reason for anyone to take your rant seriously.
Are you able to read his mind? Maybe he thought the name IS Maverick (instead of Mavericks). In any case, I find it interesting that you decided to nitpick the name rather than address the substance of his comments.

And I find it interesting that you felt the need to scold me. Do that to your own kids. And what was there to address? He already removed Mavericks and maybe you didn't bother taking the time to read because you needed to hurry up he and scold me but he said, "Please do not send me any solutions to these problems". He already made up his mind that the system sucks by his rant and more times than not this forum doesn't seem to want people to find a solution to the problem or say their system is working just fine, so try this fix.... From many threads I've read here SOME people would prefer if we all teamed up against Apple and sabotaged the rep of their products. And by now if someone doesn't know it's called MaverickS, especially when the name pops up in your face upon purchasing, installing and even the forum section here on MR then they are misspelling it on purpose so please put away the pom poms for other members here and allow them to speak for themselves since I was talking to him and not you from jump street. :p

People don't know it's called "Mavericks" because outside of California, most people never freaking HEARD of that beach and thus have no freaking CLUE WTF Apple would name their operating system something so esoteric that most people haven't a freaking clue WTF it means so they just wrongly assume Apple is referring to the word "Maverick" (which most people HAVE heard of) and makes a lot more sense to name the operating system. Thus, simple logic plus ignorance of the beach of the name creates a system where people will constantly get the name wrong and this is 100% Apple's stupid fault for calling it something so esoteric in the first place. Everyone has heard of a Panther or a Leopard, but how many people know of local beaches in California? Surfers perhaps.

Doesn't matter "what makes sense" to people, calling it Maverick is incorrect. They don't have to know the origin of the name. It's not Apple's fault, it's the laziness and rudeness of people on this forum that defy spelling it correctly. As I said, the name MaverickS is right on the OS when you download it from the App Store, in your face on the screen upon installing it and titled on the forum section here on MR so please stop the ridiculousness of backing up people for dissing the name, it's foolish. Do you want people purposely calling you out of your name or misspelling it just because it looks or sounds better to them?

Yeah, and just to be clear, do you know the origin of every name of a company's product that you buy? Of course you don't.
If you can't deal with an American company choosing to name their product from an American landmark then don't buy.

Shoulda called it Alum Rock, at least that doesn't have a confusing 's' on the end of it.

The mere fact you call the "lazy" and "rude" tells me you are the one with the problem. I personally couldn't care less if they leave the 's' off. I've got better things in life to worry about. It's a bit like the spelling and grammar police on web sites. They should have been English teachers. They missed their calling.

OT: Why don't I get the feeling that HenryDJP is a keyboard warrior with an MBTI rating of ISTJ...? :D:D

Oh I so wish I didn't have other things to worry about.
You are a lucky fellow.

I am in the same boat as you. I am very disappointed in mavericks and I did a fresh install on my rMBP. Do you ever have an issue in photoshop or lightroom where you go to open a new image or lightroom catalog and finder does not display anything? You navigate to where you keep your catalogs and nothing is there? But when you go to the destination outside of the app it's fine?

Top 5 Questions:

1) Is making my Mac run harder for certain programs...LightRoom,Photoshop,Final Cut Pro & even Preview.
Is yours?

2) I see & feel no difference in performance...Why did I update?

3) Have you upgrade to OS X Mavericks?

4) Why did you upgrade?

5) Thanks? <<<Not really a question

Or yea one more thing..There's a bug in FINDER! Can't really explain what it is but every time I remove something to trash or to another folder. It still shows it being there until I close the FINDER & reopen it.

My Story:

I use my Mac a lot for Photography & Edits in Photoshop..Heavy in FCP too!
For some reason when opening RAW files..Let me just say,
LAG is not it's best suite for this Mac!

Before it use to open right up..Multi able images too, I use to be able to Open up 20-30 files in one shot and my Mac use to open them and load them up in a split of a second. And don't get me started on Photoshop!

When using Photoshop "Heavy" my processor would never climb to a degree in which I would have to manually adjust my fans. Seems to me, I have to do this now with the "New Maverick"

I say...It feels like Maverick is making my Mac run harder then before & I don't like it.

Is there any solution to fixing the LAG when viewing a RAW image when opening it with Preview? Which I do use it often...sometimes you want to take a look at the image before Importing it to Lightroom. you feel me Cuzzz?

Thanks!

P.S I think I might go back to OS X Mountain Lion. :D

Is it getting close to a record yet on how long it takes for the first update? Maybe it just seems like a long time.

Mavericks is not worth the money you pay for it.

It slows everything down. My guess is that the power saving tricks are backfiring. I've got programs running that I expect to be eating up some significant CPU cycles and instead, they beachball and show CPU usage of less than 5%.

Meanwhile memory just vanishes for no good reason. See the attached screenshot. My system was paralyzed. I have 16GB of memory and I wasn't doing much with it. It was so bad, the mouse was lagging until... I quit iTunes. Who knew that acting as an iPod would bring a MBP Core i7 to it's knees.

Garbage.
I experience the exact same thing. Very annoying, and I really hope 10.9.1 will remedy at least some of it.. :(

1) I don't know that it runs harder. I don't use intensive apps like you suggested.

2) I also no see no difference. The only thing I do know is that from when I first got my rMBP I saw a beach ball once maybe twice. I see it frequently since I've upgraded and it's only in apps like chrome or word for maybe a few seconds. Still bothers me though, since it was so rare before the upgrade.

3) Yes.

4) Supposedly it's the latest and greatest for my Mac. I have noticed the battery life is a little better, which is the main reason I considered upgrading. Other than that though, it's absolutely nothing special for me.

I guess I should note I did a regular upgrade. I just got this rMBP over the summer and so I honestly don't have much data in it. I understand that a fresh install helps sometimes, but I hate when an upgrade basically demands it to get the full benefit.

It depends on what the definition of "sucks" is...

If by "sucks" you mean many of the applications you had for years will not work, well then yes it sucks. If by "sucks" you mean crash logs and panics will be abundant and you will become good friends with Command + R, holding Shift key, holding option to boot from alternative disk, if this is what you mean by "sucks" then yes it sucks. I am not anti-Mac, far from it, and my machine is not filled with garbage - I've had it for two years with software from places like Adobe, Logitech, HP, Carbonite - well f' Carbonite. Anyway way too many of my softwares were causing problems, big problems. I've heard too many comments along the lines of "It's not Apple's fault they gave manufacturers plenty of warning". OK well that may be and I am willing to understand that. However I've upgrated from other OS X's before and never had this many problems. Literally :apple: owes me a week of sleep, some hair color, and some hair.

On the other hand if you are doing a clean install and not adding any software it appears to be a fine operating system, though I've no idea what the difference is between 10.85.

If asking "Why did I upgrade?" well frankly I'm a guy that uses his Mac for work. I don't keep up on every nuance of what's coming out. When I saw an update notice I assumed it was the usual enhancements I had no idea it was a new OS. Then again I am sure I would have upgraded anyway - but never again.

I appreciate that :apple: would never warn prior to an update. Could you image "Hey we have a cool upgrade but some of your stuff may not work." Clearly if they did that nobody would upgrade and vendors would have no impetus to upgrade their code.

Queue "The Circle of Life".

I have similar issues, RAWs take years to load, LR tries t us e an older version of PS on a different partition and LR has a significantly slower editing time.

It's just SO strange that 100% of my Apps work just fine (and I have hundreds here including pro music software and even a couple dozen games) and that's on both a 2012 Mac Mini and a 2008 Macbook Pro and BOTH work just fine. I've had ZERO kernel panics, not forced reboots and no major crashes. In fact, the ONLY real bug I've seen (rather than an oversight like the side-dock not migrating) is the Gmail bug in 10.9.0 which now works fine in 10.9.1.

I believe people have had other bugs and problems and even crashes like you say, but to pigeon-hole the entire operating system into this mold where it's total crap and just crashes to death is a complete misrepresentation of reality. Mavericks is light years more stable than early Snow Leopard was on my MBP, which experienced horrible keyboard glitches and a lot of kernel panics with early Snow Leopard builds, but has had ZERO crashes with Mavericks.

The best advice I can give people is that they should CCC a bootable backup for upgrading and if they have a problem they can then easily boot back into their former version of OSX any time they want or restore it for now. The only way to know for certain how well Mavericks will work for you is to try it. Everything else is hear-say.

Mav's is by FAR the best release since Snow Leopard. Lion was OK, and Mountain Lion was just plain horrible. Apps may not have evolved yet to be compatible with Mav's - give it some time. We're only approaching the 10.9.2 release.

I agree, Apple's multiple monitor support was idiotic in past versions of OS X, but has made progress to merely being "stupid" with Mavericks...I could have imagined better ways to implement it way back in the day.

Why is it such a big deal that we can't have a window span two displays? And why would that be incompatible with the previous "bump and shift" behavior of Spaces? I have no idea at all....I think they're just banking up features for future releases that we will be "grateful" for, while these features should have been standard common sense all along.

Looking back at OS X is almost like comparing different designs of sewer systems - do you want the one that vents into the front or the back yard? Yeah, there are bugs, but they are relatively minor. I think OS X will finally grow up with 10.10 (or the next iteration). It's barely acceptable with Mav's, but look how far it's come since early versions, when we thought it was great to just have an OutHouse.

Agreed, its a very stable feature rich (but yet not bloated) OS. I've been very happy with it. Nothing is perfect but Mavericks is pretty darn close to it, and its free - tough to beat.

I agree. Sometimes in Finder I get an occasional beachball for a second when trying to select the "Open With" option, but that is a very minor annoyance. Other than that, I can't think of any other hiccups I'm having.

lol....

i was gonna say its just you, but i have the same experience *gets in the same boat*

I really determined o go back to 10.8.5 if Apple doesn't get their act together...

There are still silly issues, and this is AFTER 10.9.1 update, like Mail fix with Gmail IMAP fix...

They already said they fixed this before, and now another fix ? which didn't do anything ?

Sadly, i have so many beach balls i can't count how many i see per day, but on Mountain Lion. 10.8.5 was soo stable.... and many apps actually ran too.

You never had hard drives which lost data, and everything was ok

Despite the .1, Mavericks is still not ready for prime time, and probably won't be for a few more revisions.

Then again, it could be all deliberate... Apple starts on a rocky boat with 10.8, but by 10.8.5, its stable and all things have been fixed...

Here comes 10.9, and the situation is back where 10.8 was....

I believe this is a roller coaster, and i wanna get off... Besides,, Apple's making good press with all of this, if true..

10.9 is the new Visa..

Although, maveicks is close, its not perfect, and never will be, neither will be be stable. gotta wait till 10.9.4 for that.

Worst OS X i ever experience windows style multitasking, youtube playback act weird, mail high cpu usage,no gpu power management and bad performance, right click sometimes do nothing, app crashes, memory run out fast, second internal drive disconnect without reason after reboot and lost all my alias.I installed it in a separate ssd on my working machines and after a week i throw it to the garbage with the ssd not to contaminate my machines.AMATEUR hour at Apple..
