The problem exists on so many apple devices, and the solution is simple, add more ram. Why can they not understand this.
I don't have a problem with my 5c. I think its more that people who use the device extensively, i.e., lots of tabs open see the ram issue more then others. I'll go out on a limb and postulate that most consumers who buy the phone really don't notice.

So I'll put it this way, why add more ram to a device when many people don't think its an issue.

The tab refresh issue appears to be sporadic, it might not be a hardware issue or a RAM issue, but a programming issue.

Some people are perfectly capable of opening a bunch of tabs, and some people aren't. Sometimes they refresh, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes there are other apps open, sometimes not.

If the hardware is capable of doing it once, it should be able to do it consistently, in terms of what the phone is physically capable of doing with the amount of RAM it has.

This feels more like a RAM allocation issue, than an actual RAM hardware issue.

As others have pointed out, there are plenty of phones out there with 2GB ram that are laggy and junky feeling. I'd take a phone with 1GB of RAM that's programmed well over a phone with 2GB of RAM that's not any day of the week.

I don't think the phones need more RAM, the tab issue is legit, but out of all the things the phone does really really well, the tabs should be cake.

It could just be that there is some misguided soul at Apple who feels like this is a feature not a bug, but it's inconsistent and it needs to be changed. I'm sure the phone is perfectly capable of keeping tabs open, at least a few, consistently, I don't think this is a hardware issue at all.

I can't force it to happen either, it just does it when it feels like it. However, it does do it every single day. I posted the video as an example of the problem, not necessarily to say that doing exactly as in the video would replicate it.

I can have 15 tabs open and it won't do it, yet sometimes I can have a few open and it will. It all depends on the websites visited, and other background apps.

iPhones and all Apple products are renowned for their fluidity, ease of use and lack lagginess.
I don't think there's many people out there other than the spec geeks on here that are concerned with the amount of RAM.
I'll admit the multiple tabs problem is an issue but like others have pointed out this probably isn't to do with RAM and likely more a software/memory management issue. When you think the hardware is more than capable of playing music, running a sat nav app, delivering messages etc all at the same time, there's no way it's the hardware that's stopping my iPad Air from running two safari tabs simultaneously.

Apple only give you the amount of RAM you need, it's a fact that iOS is better optimised than Android etc.

Why do you guys feed into Konvictz OCD? He's just the same as Sunking101, and he will not let this issue go, and has multiple threads going on this issue.

Haven't we beat this dead horse long enough? Stop giving him attention!

...and you guys won't stop with the OCD of "1GB is plenty, I don't need more. Apple say it's fine and I agree with them 100%" ;-)

Sorry, but as you look back and see, that's not what I'm saying at all.

This issue has been debated enough, there's nothing new here. At least not until the reviews or hardware evidence comes in.

And if it comes out that there is still only 1Gb of RAM in either of the iPhone 6 or Plus models, then that's what it is and you'd be free to go buy some other brand of smartphone and quit hijacking MacRumors. Simple as that. Period.

Is The Lack Of Ram Annoying Now?

No. It never was.

Tell that to the hundreds of people annoyed by the reloading tabs.

Its understandable if there was a difficult solution to this problem but the solution is simple, add more ram. And it is embarassing as competitor devices have 3gb of ram now.

And why are so many people here like 'oh I love apple so much, I dare not complain about them', no as I said earlier although apple are very excellent, even they sometimes get it wrong which means apple do not have a 100% success rate, which means if you blindly follow them, you will also certainly get it wrong once or twice.

Yet you preordered a 128GB iPhone 6 plus. LOOOOOOOOOOL

this is the most hilarious thread I think i've ever seen

When buying Apple it's best to remember that you're investing in a closed, locked down, proprietary system. Accept the fact you have no control, nothing is perfect.

Nope, not annoying. If reading about specs gets your motor running, then buy something else.

I have yet to hear ANYONE complain about not being able to complete tasks on an iPhone due to lack of hardware. Yet, these people still complain.

I've seen plenty complain about RAM on this forum. Yes we can complete tasks but often in a frustrating and erratic manner due to page reloading. If this doesn't ever happen to you then fantastic, well done.

What? Everyone has bee complaining about this stupid reloading tabs situation, if that problem did not exist then we would not be asking for more ram. This problem does exist because of hardware limitation.

Lol whats so funny? Yes I preorderd the phone you mentioned, infact I ordered two of these (one of them will have a different purpose).

I use iphone because of iOS, simple. Yes iPhone is a complete rip off price wise, because ipod touch is so cheap, and adding few signal bands and phone functionality simply cannot cost 5 times more than this - but iOS is good for me.

Believe me, if hypothetically speaking, the galaxy note 4 was to support iOS natively, then no way would I purchase the iphone, I would go for the better hardware.

But as it happens only iphone supports iOS, which means I will have to stick to iphone.

And if and when android does match the level of service offered from iOS, which I believe maybe about 3/4 years away, then I will simply move to android. Till then, I have to be an iphone customer.

It'll never happen. Apple puts out a product built from the ground up (hardware and software). There is a reason ALL their products just work....and better than all others.

Do you think they just got lucky? It was luck they have the best tablet, phone, desktop, laptop, MP3 player on the market?

Get used to complaining about products you, yourself, choose to buy.

Hundreds out of millions of users? Proves maflynn's point. So very very insignificant. Non issue.

While I am a fan of iphone because it works. People complain its basic dumb, closed etc. I dont care because its all I need from MOBILE phone. I need facebook, browsing, snapchat, insta etc, the quicker and snappier I can do these things the better. I like my apps to load nicely, android even on the latest phones still stutter and is not a seamless experience. So iphone for me right now, but worrying for apple though because these things can be fixed, especially considering how quick android hardware improves, the iphone 6 has to be said is afterall 2 year old hardware.

So you are right about iphone and iOS However you are very wrong in terms of mac vs pc. Windows has something like 90% of the market share. If like we are all led to believe in this forum that all apple products are better than everyone else, then windows would out outsell mac by 9:1, regardless of whatever the reasons are (and there are many many reasons).

You say iphone can never lose? Mac was the best, I think they invented the mouse right? But Windows developed quickly and overtook them because they were cheaper, more accessible etc.

Don't care. As long as it runs well, it doesn't matter.

I think my Asus Zenfone has only 1GB of RAM. It runs great even though it's Android (which is notorious for being RAM hungry).

The iPad Air reloads tabs all the time.

Doesn't do that all the time on the one my daughter has got.

So many seem to jump to the conclusion that it is memory. But what about the sites you are looking at? Surely that had something to do with it as well.
