Is Your iPhone 6 Defective In Any Way?

Ordered shortly after pre-order started and still sitting on 10/13-10/22 date. So jealous of you guys who got a replacement of your new phone already...

I won't every accept white box replacements within the 14 day return period for that very reason. A phone that is faulty out of the box needs to be replaced with a proper retail new boxed unit in my view.

people with bright pixels/screen spots what are the first couple of letters/numbers of your serial?

i.e. lets see if its factory related

Wow this takes the waiting for a phone Be not so bad. So many screen issues. How do you know what week the phone was made?

Got the silver iPhone 6. I see backlight bleeding towards the top of the display and there are two specs of dust in the rear camera. I will be saving these defects as an excuse to get a replacement next year towards the end of my warranty. lol.

iPhone 6+, 128GB, White.

Wi-Fi issues, dropouts. Sometimes requiring a restart before Wi-Fi hotspots are even detected.

Had a couple restarts at odd times, just using the Twitter App and such.

Orientation issues, sometimes get's stuck in landscape :(

Pretty rubbish experience for what is a $1,249 device.

Got an Apple Store Genius Bar appointment on Friday... See what happens

Return it ASAP.

Thanks for the advice. I will hold out on it though. It hasn't happened since and I dug a bit further into diagnostics. Seems like the temp. warnings were coincidental with an iOS 8 bug and came up because no temp data has ever been read on the device before:

Will keep my eyes open for it though and return it if it happens again..

Well, network problems still persist. Had a callback from my Support agent who simply said the Engineers wanted more details from me and wanted to ascertain if it could be the SIM (even though I had stated that the SIM was fine in a different phone and a working SIM still suffered the same problem) have now been told to wait again until he hears back from the Engineers.

Then today, I have sufferent the WI-FI issue a few people have mentioned. Suddenly noticed there was no Wi-Fi (sat next to the router), couldn't even toggle the wifi button/switcher and had to eventually restart the phone.

Having worked for a Network for 5 years I'm fairly patient and understanding about new products/launches/snags/bugs etc but it's quite frustrating to be used as a Guinea pig. They haven't even told me if I'm getting a replacement yet and my original call to Apple was Friday

This is why I no longer buy early, I always wait until after Christmas(though even then the Air had issues). They are rushing to produce so many of these things it's inevitable there will be some major issues. The only positive is Apple tends to have very good customer support to get things exchanged. As someone who likes tech I tend to try and get one or two Android things just to see what they are upto and the original Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 had major issues and getting exchanges was a nightmare.

Yeah, I'm not saying no one has an issue, but I find it hard to believe that Apple is shipping at a 20 percent defect rate, per this poll.

Mass production can have these issues one bad kink on a run can end up effecting a ton of devices before it's even noticed, you think that factory is just going to bin them? No they send them out in the hope a certain percentage of people don't notice and they can get their money from Apple. Plus the new screen issues came along when Apple started using new tech for a much thinner screen that's not a coincidence.

The Airs were terrible for issues even the display units had massive yellowing. If they can't even find good units for display you know there's a serious issue.

As I said I've learned being an early adopter for any company is too much of a pain better to be patient and wait for things to get sorted first.

Hi! My 6Plus also has a stuck pixel on the upper left side near the volume buttons. I called Apple and they are sending me a replacement, which will be delivered tomorrow. Do I just transfer the SIM card to the replacement phone and it will be activated?

Thank you!

awaiting my replacement this week... Hopefully everything is going to be alright.. Don't want to play a lottery as I've already did with the iPad mini retina (took me 10 iPads to get a prefect one).

I'm guessing my issues are more of a software thing? It seems like apps get hung up. Say I'm refreshing Facebook, it just kind of sits there a while, other apps as well. It's as if it's not picking up the wifi or cell signal properly.

For example I was just using my iPad mini, everything was fine. Switched to iPhone 6 and it just sat there. Ran a speed test on both and the iPhone was super slow while the iPad was normal. Rebooted the iPhone and it's working again. This keeps happening.

Doesn't sound normal.. Didn't have any issues like that with my iPhone 6

The bottom right of my iPhone 6 seems like it's not entirely flush with the aluminum casing, so it gives off a soft click occasionally when I press around that area.

It's not a huge deal...Given everything I'm seeing about these dead pixels, I'm really tempted to keep my phone that is otherwise perfect. I've got AppleCare, so I'll roll the dice I think.

Quick update on this. I took my phone in so they could look at it and the people I talked to all immediately saw it and apologized. The display wasn't adhered correctly, so they gave me a new phone and I set it up before I left. Display on the new phone is great, no dust or dead pixels, the casing is great and secure, and they even found some random memory glitches on my first ip6, so they had me set the new one up as a new phone and its running more smoothly and fluidly than my old one was.

All in all a successful trip to the Apple Store.

I have a little ding in the corner of my 6 plus it almost looks like the letter x got stamped in it. I didn't thouroughly inspect the phone when I opened it so no way to prove that it was or wasn't there but I know I haven't dropped it yet...

Oh well it could be worse.

My phone had a little ding in the antenna bands which was fine. Also it had scratches under the screen around the home button and in the lower left quadrant of the screen. The scratches were about .25 mm long and in pairs (6 of them total). Took it to the genius bar and got a white box replacement. So far so good, knock on wood.

Also the phone is being sent back to cupertino for tear down and examination to ascertain how those scratches came under the screen.

Just got my replacement 6 from applecare for the display issue I had. The replacement looks good, only flaw I can see is the slanted text issue on the rear of the phone. Something I can put up with lol.

i think this defect is kind of cool

Lol yeah it does make it unique but I guess quite a few people have this issue. Unfortunately i found a stuck red pixel right in the middle of my screen and some pretty bad light bleeding at the top when viewing black. At this point I'm going to wait at least a month and then go for another replacement. Hopefully after a month or so they'll have these issues sorted out.

iPhone 6 Defects?

I got my iPhone 6 on Friday. Thought it was perfect and was enjoying my ride through the iPhone lottery winner's circle. That is until 3.5 days later when this afternoon I finally noticed the speck of dust under my screen in the lower left corner. Even so, having "been there, done that" with every iPhone since the iPhone 4 I know there are far worse fates that could befall an iPhone so I'll hold onto this one tight and be glad nothing else is wrong with it!

Oh, P.S. Mine has the slanted text too on the back, angled upwards from left to right.

I've got a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow for my iPhone 6. I was changing screen protectors today and noticed that the upper left side has a small gap where the black bezel meets the grey outer band. It's not a huge gap by no means, but a piece of paper would easily slide down in it. However the right side is perfectly flush just as it should be.

I have a dark uneven backlight along the top of my gold 6 (pretty noticeable on white screen). But I have played the screen lottery many many times before and only remember one perfect unit (my first 4). Going to try and live with it this time so I don't go crazy.

Yes... I hear you. Every iPhone I've bought starting with the 4 has had screen defects. I exchanged my iPhone 5 five times and in the end wound up with a good screen but the glass shipped with a hairline scratch and the case was chipped. That was the BEST iPhone 5 I could get. If you have to look for the problem, best to ignore it, but if it stands out even when you don't think about it then replace.

Dang, looks like mine has an issue. It looks like a pixel is stuck on extra bright or something and noticeable when viewing white (it doesn't shine when it's displaying black). Here's a picture I took of it. Image

Tried hard reboots and no luck.

I may go with the call to apple route rather than braving the store again.

actually you might be able to fix that, it seems like a stuck pixel

I don't know about week, but theres different factories. DN/F2/F7/C39 someone was saying I think, I dunno..

I suspect unfortunately that the factory won't influence what you get. All the parts like the screen etc are preassembled by the component manufacturers... The factory just hooks them up like Legos. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a way to determine screen manufacturer by serial number... That information is likely on a manifest to which only Apple and Foxconn have access.

Back in the days of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S one LCD vendor had lots of dust on many of their screens, but the other LCD vendor had washed out colors and an odd vertical line interlacing effect on every single panel they made. The issue was noticeable to me and lots of others but also lots didn't notice it or mind it. That's why I say if you have to look for a problem keep it, because there are so many things that can go wrong there's no guarantee the replacement won't have an even more annoying issue.
