Is Your iPhone 6 Defective In Any Way?

64gb Gold plus looks spotless and I'm very anal about checking my new Apple purchases.
Only slight glitch I've found which I hope it's software related is when selecting slow motion video I get two grey clusters appear both on viewfinder and in the recorded video.

The top part of iPhone 6’s display is a lot darker (best seen at brightness 20%). I've visited today some local shops and found out that there were no phones without this issue :( Some more pronounced, even more than mine did, especially white ones, some a little bit less. Surprisingly iPhone 6 Plus doesn’t have this issue – the display is perfect.

I haven't seen one without it so far. Friend and I both got 6's and the screen has this. Checked a couple in store and the same.

I took mine in and got it replaced yesterday and at first the replacement looked fine but I've since noticed it again. 90% of the time I don't notice it, I think it's only that I'm looking for it now and when I compared to my 5s it seemed to be even worse...

Edit: I'm wondering if it could be something with the new screens though and what they've done to make them more readable in sunlight?? To me it's more noticeable with sunglasses on, not sure if that means anything...

I have a dead pixel on my iPhone 6 Plus 128GB SG. It's driving me insane. Had it since I opened the box. Currently on hold with Apple.

I've bought an iPhone 6 64gb silver at day one launch and I've replaced it one day after for a black smudge on screen.

The new replaced unit has a visible white spot on the bottom right side.... I've replaced it with (unfortunately for no availability) a 128gb silver unit.

Now, my iPhone 6 128gb Silver has more uniform display than previous unit but... there is only ONE dead pixel in left bottom screen.

This pixel (since the high dpi of screen) is very small and I notice it only when I put my eyes near the screen...

If I replace it within 14 days, the Apple Store give me a new iphone 6 but... if the other unit is worse than mine??

Do you advice me to replace it or not??

I decided to keep mine with the dead pixel or dust at lower left. Question is do you ever notice it when you are not looking for it? If so, exchange otherwise keep.

I admire your decision because I would not stop until I get the perfect phone I paid for.

Any debris or anomaly on the screen will bother me because I will always try to look at it while using the phone.

If you can live with it then good for you. You might end up with other issues if you get it replaced but playing replacement lottery is what I've done in the past and ended up with a perfect Mac at the end.

I'm happy to get a perfect 6 plus after a couple of exchanges.

Yah believe me I understand, been there done that. In my case even if I look at the spot I don't see it unless I try hard so it's no biggie this time.

My 6 is perfect in every single way, looked at it every millimeter, every part of it, everything is flawless, BESIDES ONE THING AND it is bothering my OCD part of me hard.

I have a littttttle light leakage in the vibrate/silent switch, you can only see it in a pretty dam dark room, when its on silent mode, not when its on ringer mode the switch. its honestly pretty dam minor and quite miniscule but dam it bothers my OCD side of me lol and my perfectionist side of me.

I am trying to figure out how to close this off on my phone somehow, I tried putting a very small cut piece of paper colored in black to try and like cover the not even a millimeter gap inside .its right between the orange sticker in the volume switch and to the right of it that has a tiny small gap that allows the screen light to slightly leak in the silent switch area, its dam minor it truly is, but it does bother me a bit still lol . And i only stumbled upon this because of someones thread making me realize this lol smh

But literally everything else about my i6 is flawless, perfect screen uniformity, no backlight bleeding at all, very nice tint to the screen (not too bluish or yellow like how some peoples iPhones have been) , Nothing at all, rock hard solid volume rocker buttons and power button, very sturdy home button, no clickage or nothing on the glass display, no dead pixel/dust anywhere, nothing, just this ever so slight litttle light leakage in silent switch area that i can notice a littttle bit if i look at the side of my phone while in a pretty dam dark room. I know its so dam minor, it really is, but still bothers my OCD side lol, I am going to keep thinking how I can fix this my self , i dont want to swap my iPhone 6 out that is flawless in every other way alongside with a expensive $25 dollar Ghost Armor screen protector slapped on it

If I were you, I would just keep it. You will not be looking at that switch most of the time. The same thing cannot be said to something on the screen. You will encounter more screen flaws if you choose to play the exchange lottery, believe me.

Oh and don't stick a piece of paper in there...it will do more harm than good.

Beyond true man your right thats exactly what i was thinking, that there is probably a pretty good chance somethig else on the replacement could be worse and way more serious then this like screen deformity, backlight bleeding, something,

Although my screen was fine and everything else was fine, I noticed a cosmetic defect on the bottom of the device near the headphone jack and mic is located. It somewhat seemed like a paint chipped and I thought I could live with it. Well so today thanks to istocknow.com. The Apple store in my city had the 6 Plus in stock, so I went ahead and exchanged.

I did the return/exchange method instead of using the Genius replacement. So far the new one has no defect. Perfect screen. No cosmetic defects. Gotta test the battery though.

My 6 Plus camera might be bad.

See my thread here.

Just saw your pics...I'm thinking there's nothing wrong with your camera. It's all a matter of how the automatic feature of the camera is working, which is not 100% most of the time, even in the more expensive cameras. A little adjustment on your part should do the trick on the more trickier lighting situations.

I thought my phone just had a slightly loose home button, but it turns out the screen makes some noise if pressed by the sim tray slot and you can feel the screen move into the case slightly if you press by the volume buttons. By the volume buttons it also makes popping sounds on occasion. Was hoping I could live with the home button but I think with the screen noise it's going back. Bummer too...was hoping to avoid playing the lottery.

Maybe I'm too picky, but I have never seen a phone that is 100% perfect and I'm talking about every generation since iPhone 3G.

It's a good thing for those who think it's perfect. Sometimes I wish I have the mindset of you guys.

This.

When I first got into the iPhone return game I was so hyped by the build quality.
I put my expectation up Wayy too high.
Ended up exchanging the iphone 4, 8 times.
Then I realized...most of the things I complained about are negligible compared to the scuffs and the wear and tear the phone will experience throughout its lifetime.

So now, unless he defect affects usability - screen defect, button defect, I accept it.

My 3 day old Iphone 6+ has a small bright spot on the bottom right. Very noticeable when web browsing in landscape mode.
