“…could have even deeper integration with the Apple ecosystem of devices…”

yeah, and the EU I’m sure would have a problem with this because, we can’t have anything with superior integration. Think of all the poor competitors that couldn’t figure out their own solutions… 🙄

It’s aspirational nonsense. What is superior integration but a hope and a prayer. Otherwise it’s called AirPlay and it’s largely a solved problem

Who would spend $5k on an Apple telly when you can pick up a 48" LG for 600 bucks during Black Friday deals.

I saw that 48" B4 LG OLED ... Trying so hard to figure out a use case for it
Incredible deal

The B4's (unlike the B3 models last year) have very little compromise vs C series
Screamin' deal

I LOVE my 65" C3

As with others, I’m extremely skeptical about this prospect. There isn’t much that Apple can bring to this market that already hasn’t been done. Throwing their name on yet another panel; integrated Apple TV, or not, is a fleeting market.
You would have to have a dongle for every import port. Only compatible with Apple speakers. No, not for me.

the tv will be 6,000 dollars for a 48"
AppleCare is an additional 1,000$ and doesn’t cover anything that occurs if the new Mac smell isn’t detectable by an olfactometer. Dust and fingerprints WILL, of course, void the warranty as does usage in a humid climate (whereby humidity above 12% is the standard for voiding the warranty). An accelerometer is also present to record holding the TV wrong. This also voids the warranty.

Margins are atrocious in this space

Support costs are insane also

Zero chance Tim Apple wants any part of this

Release a new Apple TV please, and move along Apple
Agreed entirely. TVs are far and away too much of a commodity for Apple to play in this space.

I’d buy it if it was 125” and supported 8K/120FPS and 10k nits HDR.

The best TV on the market right now is Hisense’s 115” TV that does 4K and 10k nits HDR. It’s $20k now but I’d expect that price to come down significantly over the next few years.

120FPS??? That’s not great

The challenge, too many TV sizes, install options, home theater sound, OTA, I/0 devices, screen variables and pricing points to make a profit for Apple. Would have made sense 15 or so years ago. Maybe a one box control could possibly be an option. Others have tried and failed. Will see if anything develop’s.

Wake me when someone decides to make a 'dumb' TV again. Something with a gorgeous display that does absolutely nothing except display whatever content I feed into it via a variety of ports.

Is that too much to ask???
They exist, displays for signage, they’re just ridiculously expensive compared to consumer TVs. I’ve considered one every time I’ve upgraded a TV but the price means I always just end up getting a “smart” tv and just never give it network access

I can only imagine how much an Apple-branded TV would cost. It would have to do something truly unique to replace the current AppleTV+"TV from any other brand" combo.

I can't even come up with a compelling feature set honestly

The things they could add or do I probably don't want.

I don't want face time camera built in, nor do I want "AI" always listening and being ready to interject... I'm fine with the ATV being a discreet box and honestly prefer it so it can be easily upgraded separate from the panel

The whole thing just feels like a nonstarter

The one thing that usually needs a boost for folks is sound
I think they should do an Soundbar with ATV + Facetime + AI built into that -- if they must do something here

A tv is basically a computer these days… you have to wonder what added value an Apple television is going to bring. UI’s on streaming media boxes have gotten pretty good over the last couple of years.

Hey I get it. It’s why I spent my entire Mac budget building a gaming PC and buying a Samsung Odyssey monitor for it. But lots of people have consoles and will notice the difference too with this theoretical Apple TV.
Remind me which console utilizes gsync
