I thought Apple employees weren't allowed to have Macrumors accounts.......
and then he asked, "aren't we?" and Steve yelled: "NO!" and we never heard of Roy again...

Roy speaks the truth. Respect the Roy!Holy crap! I didn't even know that my BS detector went up to eleven!
I am an Apple Engineer on the iTunes team, and this behavior is as designed. The overwhelming majority of applications on the App Store are from 3rd-party (not Apple) developers. If the maker of the software changes something between versions, and you like the old way better, you still have the old one to go back to.
I don't believe this will fix the iPhone sluggish performance of late. Probably 2.1 will fix it.
yep mine ran very fast which is a first however i keep getting a WD Crash Report everytime i connect my iphone anyone else with this problem i always have to relaunch it its annoying, didnt fix with 7.7.1I wonder if this update will solve the long iPhone backup problems?
iTunes 8 please... I am able to stand iTunes less and less as more is added. It reminds me of Windows; it doesn't seem to have that great of a foundation, yet features are added faster than bugs are fixed.
Updated to 7.7.1 .. noticed that all the apps icons are rounded now (like everyone else said).. plugged in my iphone.. started the back-up process.. took the same amount of time.. it still does that thing where if u deleted an app on your phone but not on your itune..it reinstalls the app back onto your phone (pretty annoying) .. once it's done synching.. it automatically restarted my phone... .. .. thats pretty much my 7.7.1 experience.
Weird - not in my Software Update at all.

Now, iTunes says I have 7 application updates to do, but when I click on Update Applications, i get 36 UPDATES!!!
Then after those are done, iTunes STILL SAYS i NEED TO DO 1 MORE UPDATE!
I click again, and, guess what, 36 UPDATES WANT TO DOWNLOAD!
And then, it GETS WORSE. Now all my application sync prefs are GONE and it wants to put EVERY SINGLE APP I downloaded just to try out on the iPhone! Obviously, I tried out LOTS of free apps I don't want on my iphone.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I guess Apple's priority on these patches is how to hammer the hackers and seal the cracks, rather than making a good app.1 hour 30 minute backup and counting. What the hell is it doing? .
1. you are assuming users know best about the apps, and why don't you assume developers knows best? does iTMS offer release note of each app? what if there are security fixes in new version and users don't take that into consideration?I am an Apple Engineer on the iTunes team, and this behavior is as designed.
