It's usually UPS. Saturday delivery no. Not unless specifically asked for which was unlikely

Monday i. guess

Think mine is on a runway in shanghai still

At least yours is on a freaking runway. I don't know how in the hell I'm getting screwed via shipping. My iMac was picked up YESTERDAY after the cutoff time, which means you'd think it would move today, or be on a plane today. WELL, the update I just got says At Local FedEx Facility in Shanghai CN, as of 10pm china time, but then I switch it over to Eastern Time, and it says freaking 5PM on February 1st! What the hell?! TODAY IS THE 1ST AND IT'S NOON, HOW IN THE HECK DID IT UPDATE AT 5PM?!?!?! FedEx's stuff is ALL messed up. According to everything I've seen, where someones shipment miseed the FedEx cutoff time that day, it was on a freaking plane the next day to anchorage, and then to memphis that night! This is ridiculous. I am absolutely convinced that Apple and FedEx are trying to screw me because they gave me the freebie SuperDrive. FREAKING KARMA! I should have told the lady to shove the SuperDrive up her rear and make damn sure my order has Express Shipping, because it would be on it's damn way to Memphis this very second.... This is ridiculous.

EDIT: Also, if I check ORIGIN time, on the FedEx tracking page, it says 10pm. Then if I check SCAN LOCATION time, it shows 5 hours later?! How in the heck is that possible? It's still in Shanghai! Does Apple fudge shiptimes and stuff just to piss people off or something?

ANOTHER EDIT: And how in the HECK does a Feb 1st flight on FlightAware, have a depart time of 9:13pm Central Standard Time, and an arrival in Anchorage at 12:13 PM Alaska Standard Time??? I don't know if my iMac's on this flight or not?! I think it may still just be sitting around in a warehouse in China. I REALLY think that unless you bought the Express Shipping, or Apple cared enough about YOU to upgrade YOU to Express Shipping because of the bull, then your iMac is sitting around for days. I highly doubt I will be getting my iMac on the 6th.. Next time I'm just paying for the freaking express shipping..... Maybe if I would have done that they would have gave me express shipping and then credited me the $30 back like this did for another fellow.

Typing this from the 27 iMac...Awesomeness! Haven't seen any scratches, haven't done any image burn or yellowness tests, but the screen looks great! You just hear the fan/air blowing in a completely quiet room - my ears pick up anything though. A lot more quiet than my home-built PC, but not dead silent like my work 13" Air.

Definitely going with the 27 is the way to go though. Had a 21 on order but decided to go with the 27 after seeing them again.

Will have a pic of the setup at some point, but just updating things and taking it out for a spin. :) :D :apple:

For those of you who have not switched from Processing to Preparing for shipment, you need to be watching your bank account first as that will be the first action, once you see it authorized again in your bank account, then that is a sign that your order will be moving from processing to Prepared for shipment perhaps that same day or next day at the latest.

Congrats to you!!! Hopefully you have a non-defect one, as it seems 1/3 of these units are defective in some small way or there are a lot of picky users just looking for things to complain about. Anyway Enjoy your new iMac!!!

I'm assuming mines on a runway. All I know is it is booked in a flight from Abu Dhabi to London tomorrow. And should arrive at 4pm GMT

I think it's going via flying carpet from shanghai to AD though
Agree the time zone thing is arse. I can't work it out at all ! It makes no sense and is contradictory

I'm showing the same info as you. I was hoping to get lucky and get it this Saturday but I guess not. Oh well it's still earlier than estimated by :apple:

CST for flights originating in China means China Standard Time.
Because flights flying east from China to the US cross the International Date Line, they effectively land before they take off if you are looking only at local times. Gotta love the time-twisting of the Date Line.

How do you find flight information? Mine just went to in transit from China, but I don't know the flight info, or where the next stop is. Thanks!!

I didn't know CST stood for China Standard Time on the Flight Aware.. Well that makes a little more sense. But FedEx is still messed up with their times. Because I can select "Local Scan Time", which would be the time in that locations time zone, but then I'll select Origin, which is supposed to be the time in the shipment Origin, it gives me 5:00pm 02/01/2013, then I'll select Other and Eastern Standard Time, and it shows the same time same date. I'll select destination, which is supposed to be my time zone, and it shows 6:00am on 02/02/2013. Maybe they have Origin and Destination mixed up, but that wouldn't explain the "Local Scan Time" being something totally different from both Origin and Destination.

EDIT: When it finally gets here, after the wait, and all this stuff, it dang well better NOT be defective! I'm hoping for flawless, but who knows. All I know is that if I get it, and it's defective in any way I'm going to be absolutely FURIOUS. I'd just request a refund, either by shipping it back, or possibly by bringing it into a local Apple Store and doing an exchange there. Whether I do the refund by sending it back or exchange in the local Apple Store, I'm going to get a 15" Retina MacBook Pro. Which kinda sucks because I really want the 512GB hard drive version, but I can't afford it at the moment.

ALSO! Has anyone found a program or website where you can enter the products Serial Number and get the specs for that specific item. Specifically the build specs like the display brand. Some people have been saying something about the store manager being able to do a "Ripley" search or check and seeing which display is in the MacBook Pro, and they've also been saying you can enter the serial numbers in sites like chipmunk and another site to get that info. I tried it with a model at Best Buy and it didn't give me the display brand code. Which sucks. That means I'll have to open it up, set it up, and then check the terminal app with the command...

My iMac arrived this morning around 9am. That is nearly 5 days earlier than originally projected. I figured my iMac was on FedEx Flight 90, nonstop from Shangai to Memphis and amazingly, I was correct! Technically, it was like overnight shipping since it left China YESTERDAY and arrived in Memphis last night and then delivered this morning (Yeah, I'm having trouble fathoming that too). I only live about an hour from Memphis so you can see why it got here so soon. I am beyond thrilled and can't wait to get off work so I can go home and set that baby up!

You... need to calm it down a bit. lol. There are those of us who have actually had our shipments held at Anchorage and we didn't complain that much.

Flight tracking can be done on FlightAware.com This link will show all of the FedEx flights that are currently in the air: http://flightaware.com/live/fleet/FDX

From what I can tell, and I could be wrong, Apple shipments to the US leave Shanghai on three flights a day.
  • FDX90: which flies direct from Shanghai to Memphis
  • FDX28: which flies from Shanghai to Anchorage, Alaska. Those shipments then go to Memphis.
  • FDX24: Which goes from Shanghai to Narita, Japan, then to Anchorage. Those shipments then go to Memphis.

I don't know of way to determine which flight a specific order might be on. They seem to leave within a few hours of each other. You kinda just have to wait until it hits the next waypoint from Shanghai.

I know. I'm just exaggerating a bit. Plus I'm pretty sure that my order's going to get held up in Anchorage too. Seems like a bit of a pattern there. I just really can't wrap my head around why Apple hand picked some people for the upgrade, and left other peoples the same, even though they told those people specifically that theirs was upgraded. I'm not as upset at the transit time as I am the principle of the matter. I feel like they just told me something to shut me up for a while, ya know? lol, oh well. At least it's on it's way. Once it gets here it'll relieve some stress. On top of all this, my family and I have some very very serious issues. That's what's really fueling my stress really, it just come out on this forum as it's my only area to vent. Sorry...

Not sure what upgrades you're speaking about. Assuming shipping upgrade, maybe? Trust me, once that iMac arrives a ton of stress and worry will fly out the window and you'll want a nice long nap. ;)

Apple apparently upgraded a bunch of peoples iMac orders to express shipping. Even though they said "all 27" iMac orders" were updated to express shipping, and on three separate occasions told me that mine has been upgraded to express shipping, that is sadly not the case. Only a select few people got upgraded, I think Apple was just telling me, and other people that, either to just shut them up or calm them down, or maybe they told me because I mentioned I was a member of MacRumors, and they figured I would post it up on the forum here, which I did, which I guess they figured might shut some more people up about their orders.

When did your's actually ship? Also, when you checked you tracking, which method does it show that they shipped by? Standard shipping or Express shipping? FedEx will either say "International Economy Distribution" for Standard and "Priority Distribution" for Express, at the bottom of the page in that box with all the shipment info and weight and such...

Probably being a numpty but could I get a breakdown of how the tracking numbers work and where to use them?

Put the number starting 82. Into expeditors.com. That's what I posted a screenshot of earlier.

The other number is still not doing anything yet for me. You should be able to click on the links from apples order page. There are 2 when you click on the arrow next to shipped

I dunno. The first I'd ever heard of Apple upgrading every 27" was via a poster here (you?). That wouldn't be very cost effective to give $30 to every customer in their database. They gave it to a lot of people but I wouldn't get too overly worried. Once it moves it'll be at your home pretty quick. :)

Honestly. There is nothing any of us can do to change the timescale of these things arriving into our respective countries now. Once in the hands of a local delivery hub - perhaps we could change stuff. But they will be palettes up waiting for flights sealed with documents.

Why fight something we cannot change?

I've deliberately left myself a few new iMac arrival type jobs to do for these last few days. I'm certain that this time next week ill be lying in bed looking at a beautiful shiny new iMac.

I'm even feeling positive about it arriving without fault

I don't think Appke have got it right. They haven't handled thus well. However. Telling them that will not make it arrive faster. It might get you a £50 cash ack or free drive or whatever. - but it won't give you what you want

I've lost over 10k these last few weeks in turned down work. £50 isn't going to cover it.

They've shipped loads these last 3 days. There's bound to be some hold ups getting them out. Yeah I'm impatient and called Apple to ask if it really would take another week. But they can't change it. At least bit 'til it lands in your country.

Just a little more patience needed :)

For the Macbook Pro 15 retina, there's a terminal command to give the display type. Can't be done on the 13 retina.

On the iMac, just go to Spotlight and type in System Information, and in Storage under Hardware, Physical Volumes shows the code for it. So I have the Samsung SSD (SM128E) a WD blue 1TB drive. WD10EALX

Didn't @large farva get a super drive for free? His signature says freebie.
So waiting one or two days extra shouldn't be a problem

I think he did.

It's difficult. We all want our new toys

But there ARE people still waiting who ordered their iMacs from an Appke premium reseller in DECEMBER and haven't got them. AND they've handed over all their money. Reading that thread makes me feel very lucky

Orders from 15/1 shipped today and will arrive before mine placed 9/1.

It's days now.
Still it's difficult and sometimes I lose my cool as I think we all have

I do think Apple could have avoided some customer frustration by communicating better. Being honest about resellers getting theirs last. Etc.

But we cannot change the flights.

I haven't got anything free. I've phoned Appke twice in the whole time frame and they calked me back once.

The spreadsheet is losing its credibility as people intentionally or by accident have deleted the username column, and now, someone has deleted a lot of order dates, and moved the remaining dates "up".
