So I did end up getting it today! I absolutely LOVE this machine. It seems flawless so far and it's definitely noticeably faster than the MacBook Pro I'm coming from. Hang in there, guys and gals! It's definitely worth the wait (even though I wanted to pull my hair out at times). I'll be posting pics of my setup in the other thread soon.

wow, so far I think I seen 3 or maybe more orders that was bought on Jan 15th , 2013 and they went to prepared for shipment or even have shipped already. I bought on the 15th at noon PST in USA. I can not figure out Apples shipping priority. Some people seem to be left behind as there are still some that early Jan and still show processing including mine. But mine could change any day now but what about the ones that we have passed up or Apple has passed up. They should not go to another date until all those in that date have shipped. But it never works like that it seems. We all have to play the waiting game.

Here is a screencap I took of mine last night. Because of the time/date change from crossing the International Date Line the Anchorage times will look out of place, but I had it set to local scan time. You can still use all of the Shanghai entries to gauge how long it took between each step. You also notice that mine was one that went to Japan before Anchorage, but from what I can tell, that only adds an hour or two to the trip to Anchorage.

Oh, and 24 hours later, I still have the same Commercial Invoice delay, and I've missed all three flights heading to Memphis tonight.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. Your information actually solves my question. It looks like tomorrow's update will show that it's in Anchorage. Hopefully. Man it would have been great to avoid Anchorage all together with Express Shipping. The reason I didn't select it was because it only showed a one day decrease with Express Shipping. Instead of February 7th - 14th, it would have been 6th - 13th according to Apple. Now I know that not to be true. A couple posts below yours there I noticed someone said theirs too 18 days from order placed to opening the box. Lucky mf'er, lol. Well, ya live and learn!

We ordered our 27" iMac on Jan. 8th, received it yesterday and finished setting it up today. 3.4 / i7 / Fusion 1Tb / 8gb / 680MX

Um...WOW! It's blazing fast, gorgeous display and noticeably thinner. I'm still using my 08 imac and I'm now jealous of giving my wife the newer computer. Definitely worth the wait!

My new iMac just left Anchorage. My estimated delivery date is Tuesday the 5th, but if it left Alaska today I'm hoping it arrives on Monday. I'm in San Francisco, not sure where the next stop is after Anchorage.

Next stop after Anchorage is usually Memphis, if you are on my side of the country. I think it may very well just fly down to Cali. Who knows. Maybe someone else here on the forum ordered one from your side of the country? Hell, knowing the way things go sometimes, and how plane routes are set up, I wouldn't be surprised if it went to Memphis, then Cali. I believe Memphis is the Main US FedEx hub.

From what I've been able to determine, there are three FedEx flights a day that go from Anchorage to the Mainland, and all three go to Memphis. The first two appear to get into Memphis early enough to have packages rerouted onto flight that leave Memphis in the middle of the night. I'm not sure if the the third one gets there in time.

I'd love to prove my guess, but my computer has been sitting in Anchorage for two days now waiting for correct import paperwork. :D

I had a small hope that my computer would be shipped today. It seems like almost none of the orders from the 15th completed.
They are probably pushing reseller orders again.

I must say, during all of that waiting, I was having fears that my computer would not come in one piece, but to contrary, it arrived pristine condition! No defects, no chipping, scathes, scratches, etc... I'm very pleased overall with my 27" iMac and I'm very sure you all will be with yours too!

While i was bored, I started reading the thred saying:do not buy imac. It has something to do with the LCD getting smudges because of the heat from the gpu/CPU. Apple reportedly only replace your LCD once as a goodwill gesture.
Starting to second guess my order....

EDIT: I just checked my tracking page again, and decided to try and select the option to have it held for pick up at the local operating facility. It opened the pop up window but told me that "this option wasn't available for my shipment". So either it's going to be loaded onto a truck at the Cocoa, FL operating facility for delivery, or with Apple, FedEx must make at least one delivery attempt before it can be help at a facility. Hopefully if it DOES get delayed until Thursday, when it doesn't get delivered because I won't be home, I'll be able to pick it up that evening, hopefully, but I don't know. Because I don't even think I'm going to be around Friday either, lol.

Basically what's happening is that it's still in transit, so you need to actually call FedEx themselves to arrange to pick it up. The button should be grayed out imo until it arrives at your local distribution center since it tends to be misleading. They don't need to make a delivery attempt as long as it's in their distribution center.

I had a really good experience this time around with FedEx (knock on wood). I was following the order and it appeared quite suddenly from Memphis to a place not 10 minutes away from me. Filled out the pre-authorization to have it left but then saw a message how it missed the courier and wouldn't be delivered. Call to customer service to find out what was happening, who called the center themselves. Lady at the Dist. center called me and apologized but told me I wouldn't be able to pick it up until the next day. She then said she'd go try finding it to put aside. 45 minutes later she calls me saying she was sorry but it was already out for delivery and that she could message the driver to return if I wanted. I was pretty surprised and told her hell no and to keep on driving to my home. Then I explained how my doorbell is broken but there was an authorization out there with instructions. She said she knew exactly what it was and would never risk that, so offered to have the driver let her know when he was nearby and she'd call me so I could go down and wait. 15 minutes later, she called. 5 minutes later the delivery guy showed up. 1 minute later he left and I threw my back out not realizing how heavy it actually was when I went carry it upstairs.

I am curious, how many of you opted for the text message on your phone when Apple ships your iMac? How long did they take if you know, to text you after it shipped?

And finally they did not text you regarding the preparing for shipment right? Just when it was shipped out?

When i ordered the 21.5, I got an email when it was shipped, and also one iMessage saying that it had shipped.
The 21 was returned the day after. Too small:)

Cancelled my 15th Jan order (3.4Ghz i7, 680MX, 1t FD) yesterday, went to the local Apple store and bought one with same configuration. The guy told me that they have plenty of the base model but only two of the high end model are dispatch to them. Hope you guys can have your iMac soon!:)

Question on the ones they have top of the line 3.4Ghz i7, 680MX, but do they have 3 TB HD without fusion? or do they even have it with 3TB with fusion. I can not deal with the 1 TB HD fusion or non fusion. . . its just too darn small.

So close but still so far

I've now turned into a plane spotter. Just need an anorak and notepad

Where did you find the UPS tracking number? Mines in a shipped state since 1st Feb and I can't seem to find it.

Mine changed from a random number that UPS didn't recognize to a number that was clearly a UPS tracking number (starting with 1ZW4).

So far this is the only activity that has taken place:

Shanghai, China 02/02/2013 0:35 Arrival Scan
Shanghai, China 01/02/2013 21:15 Departure Scan
01/02/2013 14:57 Origin Scan
China 01/02/2013 23:30 Order Processed: Ready for UPS

How does everyone know which flights their iMacs are on?

FINALLY... preparing for shipment:)

:-D made up for you,

Thanks for the tip. I tried that, but it says that there's no "data available in the table". Am I missing something?

Wow! That would be awesome for you!

I am expecting the dates to change once the plane has landed and been emptied. Let me know if you get a more concrete delivery date after it has landed?
